Barclays Premiership

Previous Thread

Firstly I'd like to say I'm shocked at what a stunning end to the season it was yesterday aswell as a big congratulations to Manchester United.

Secondly I'd like to confirm that an IP scan has shown that gav42 & stefan1888 are not the same people. The only way I can see them being the same users is if they are using 2 PC's. Therefore just leave it from this point please and don't mention it in this forum.

re: Barclays Premiership

What an end to the season.

Most exciting title race I've ever seen.

Hopefully Chelsea can follow up and get a better start next season and get decent results through x-mas then we can win the title.

Can't wait till Champions league then I can't wait till the transfer window opens.

I love hearing about who's gonna buy who and when the promoted teams buy players...It's intresting to see how they will handle the prem.

To put it politely as I can, I'm quite sure you will do a Derby.

After watching players like Salif Diao, Ricardo Fuller and Andy Griffin unable to cope at Portsmouth in the EPL, I don't hold much hope for Stoke. But I'd like to be proven wrong.

re: Barclays Premiership

I personally think West Bromwill stay up. I see them beingaround 12th-15th come Xmas, and then will keeep a steady pace to the end of the season. Mainly due to their style of football and their expereinced heads. Dean Kiely and Zoltan Gera for example.
Whereas Stoke, as their squad currently looks, i see them having it tough. But it could all depend on who they sign. Get a few experienced heads in and a few premiership proven players and i can see them staying up, without that i don't see any of the new boys staying up. It was one of Reading's biggest down falls this season, lack of experience and buying.

A Stoke fan! I didn't realise they knew how to use the internet in Stoke?

Can't see Stoke staying up as well, they and whoever wins the playoffs are certainty's for relegation imo. Fair play if either prove me wrong.

re: Barclays Premiership

I think West Brom could do a Reading and have a truly remarkable first season. There's a lot of quality in their midfield and attack - Bednar, Phillips, Miller, Brunt, Koren, Gera, Morrison, Greening etc. They have a bit of a shoddy defence though, so presumably that's where Mowbray will be directing the majority of his attention during the transfer window.

As for Stoke, haven't seen enough of them to make a judgment on how they will do. However, sides such as Bolton and previously Wimbledon have survived in the Premiership by playing scrappy, long-ball football - it's not easy, but it can be done. I would love to see Stoke survive next year, as it's good to see the underdog doing well - providing they try hard and have a bit of fight in them, of course, which Derby just didn't seem to do at times. Although I have a soft-spot for Fulham, it was still disappointing to see two Championship sides go straight back down again. It's much better to see new teams entering the Premiership, keeping it fresh.

Stoke I think might come 15th or 12th in the table.

I hope they stay up!

Anyway Tottenham will come 5th this season!

re: Barclays Premiership

We'll stay up, and do it without spending over £15m, like many pundits seem to think we need to do.

The arrogant, un-knowledgeable pundits who don't have a clue what happens below the Premier League will obviously back them all to fail. People like Chris Kamara who actually watch the football league will realise we have a good chance of staying up next season.

Stoke will go down, bet of the season will be Stoke to get less than 34 pts, evens money.
