I bought the docks and I'm in a Mission where i got 2 boats to chose from so i chose both and I still lose. I've lost even changing every time so how long is the track a full O (circle) or what because iI'm always halfway through then. Plz tell me how long the track is in Checkpoint Charlie
Well I am sure by now you have passed this mission but since this thread is in the topics listing I will answer it either in case you havent or in case someone else looks this up with the same question.
1. Save your game at Sunshine Auto or better yet the Boatyard once you buy the property.
2. Take the boat on the left (The Squallo) because it is faster than the Cuban Jet-Max. You can pass it with the yellow and brown Jet-Max on the right but the boat is considerably slower so unless you REALLY need the slight handling edge that the brown and Yellow boat (same as Umberto's son uses in that boat race) go with the one on the left.
3. First thing you had BETTER get used to with ALL BOATS in Vice City is a VERY annoying glitch that you may not be aware of because you are just trying to pass the mission. The glitch is that you CANNOT steer the boat AT ALL unless you are on the gas! Rockstar kind of blew the physics on at least that aspect of the boat controlls because last time I checked a boat is steered by the rudder and NOT dependant upon acceleration (movement yes, but that movement can be momentum driven not just engine driven). What this means to anyone having trouble with ANY boat race is that you can mash on the steering ALL YOU WANT and you cannot "drift" into a turn. So remembering this little glitch it is VERY important to stay as close to hitting the checkpoint dead center as you can, even when the waves bounce you around a bit. Because once you let off the accelerator you cannot steer and will just blow right by the checkpoint that you should have just been able to steer/drift into!
4. For the ramp checkpoints MAKE SURE you hit the ramp as straight as possible. So slow down and line up to take the jump. Also, while you need to get some air, too much and you will fly right over the checkpoint, another good reason to slow down.
NOTE: For MOST GTA gamers the advice above should be ALL you need and you can pretty much STOP reading now. However so many people have asked me for a more detailed "Checkpoint by checkpoint" description with full directions that I put it for you if you need it.
5. Checkpoints Walkthrough: First checkpoint is easy, just straight ahead. Then veer left a bit to get the next one. Then keep going in that basic direction for checkpoint 3 and for 4 you will need to go clockwise around the hut and the checkpoint is on the other side. Now veer right a bit towards number 5. Then go counterclockwise around this hut, but be VERY careful and make the turn a bit wide because there is debris on the inside of the last part of the turn. Grab the checkpoint here which is #6. (If you didn't notice by the way, grabbing points 3 through 6 causes you to make a sort of figure 8 around to adjacent huts).
Veer off to get 7 and SLOW DOWN here. You have a series of ramps for 8, 9 and 10 and you will need to get some air for these. But if you take especially the first one too quickly you will actually go over the checkpoint. It is also more important to be LINED UP straight on each of these ramps than it is to go barreling through at full speed so take a little time here!. Okay you did the first jump to get 8, now the next ramp is in a straight line from this one and will net you checkpoint 9 if you hit it straight. NOTE: if you bounced off of the first ramp crooked straighten yourself out FAST before hitting the throttle hard or you will be off line for the next checkpoint.
After hitting the second ramp for checkpoint 9, get over to your left in order to get the third ramp and checkpoint 10. You will see a white sailboat just to the left of where you have to hit the jump.
Veer to your right after this one for number 11. Keep veering right to grab 12 under the sloping down part of the bridge and a little harder to the right for 13. Now you are going to be headed straight to 14 and then under the little bridge that separates the two parts of washington beach.
You are now working your way north through a long, narrow channel spanning Washington Beach and vice Point.
Okay forget the numbers now, because at this point you really need to concentrate on the route. From the last checkpoint bear left and head into the narrow channel. It is a tight squeeze here so be careful to stay straight! Getting turned around here by bumping one of the sides of the little waterway could easily cost you the race.
Work your way north under the next bridge but stay a little to the right because there is a slightly camaflouged piece that juts out and if you dont see it you will slam into it and turn yourself around. Keep going north through the channel which is thankfully a tiny bit wider now. After the next checkpount which you will be veering a little left for, you will need to make a sharper left to basically head south. (notice you went almost completely around the little island that makes up part of Washington Beach annd Vice Point under the series of little bridges).
This leg of your journey will take you around the southern part Leaf Links Island. Make a sharp right and you will be going between the tiny little southern island of Leaf Links and the main part of Leaf Links (under the little wooden bridge where you grabbed a package). Grab the next checkpoint and make a sharp right to head north now around the western part of Leaf links. Next checkpoint is inder the bridge and then a little further north.
Now come east around the northern-most part of Leaf Links and head between the two northern Islands of Leaf Links. Once you go under the bridge for these checkpoints you will come out into a semi-long, narrow channel. Make a left heading north and grab the last two checkpoints and you are all done!
