Racing modifications - which cars?

I think the Mark IV Golf looks amazing with the RM. Also tempted now to get the NSX and Evo IX

Pretty sure only the Evo IX can have the RM. The Evo VI and the T.M Edition don't allow it.

Also, while searching for a decent Supra, I came across this shocker. As this is an absolute mockery of one my most favourite race cars of all time, I nearly cried when I saw this. Yes, that's right, someone has copied the Castrol TOM's Livery of the legendary Super GT Supra. WHY THE *bleep* WOULD YOU RUIN SUCH A DECENT CAR LIKE THAT!? Seriously man, there's no point. People haven't a clue how to do modify cars




Ahh yes Melb Victory, the case of the massive 6" muffler tip that does nothing but actually decreases the car's power and effeciency as too much air is leaving the car faster than it is going in, hence why you don't see Ferrari's or Lambo's with massive muffler tips on their cars.

As regards my previuos comments pal, this has nothing to do with you, it was a game comment about the brake kit. What are you trying to do, make people think your a car genius? Was it aimed to be an insult? I wasn't laughing at you or even really being abusive. I tried to be as 'mature' and nice about it as possible. All I said was that to me it doesn't sound like you are a proffesional, nor was that comment trying to make out as if I was, which I'm not...yet.

I actually don't considering I do love Civics, Golfs, Focuses, Astras, Clios and A3s etc. What I don't like is people who don't know how to modify them properly and put horrible massive body kits on them or huge 5" muffler tips on them making out as if the car looks better or any faster than it when infact what they done with that muffler tip if anything is make it slower hence why GT5 makes you upgrade the whole exhaust system. The exhaust manifold/downpipe, car and backbox/muffler tip.

Right, now to salvage this back on topic...does anyone actually like the Racing Modification's liviers? I think they look pretty half arsed to be honest and find it pretty annoying that Gran Turismo/Polyphony is plastered all over the cars instead, they should of implemented the real live liveries of those cars from real racing teams/championships.

For example, have the Speed 6 look like this after the RM, Team LNT's entry for one of the Le Mans series. I don't know if that would have an effect on licensing costs though for all the sponsers/decals on the cars.

But yeah, although I would love it if they did, I don't want the game to steer towards the tuner/aftermarket scene and turning into a Juiced/Midnight Club LA game but even if you could do more visual modifications to alot more cars that steered towards motorsport and 'real' performance like how Works Converting worked on NFS: Shift

I agree totally, but there are the odd few exceptions...Vielside's wide bodykit for the RX-7 is simply gorgeous. But yeah, you're right it's a 106.

I admit some of the Euro VW's do look nice, IF they don't have silly stretch tyres on or bonnet bras and are done properly.



That ain't too bad I think apart from the stretch tyres, still not too sure on the rims. But atleast the fabrication on the bodywork shows quality workmanship and a professional fit.

Not sure about England but here in Melbourne they just meet at big car lots on the weekends and anyone can go to them to check it out, seen some really beautiful and some really weird cars there haha

If you are on about local meets that are set up by forum members etc who show off their rides and just meet at a car park at night then yeah we have alot of that going on.

I'm on about proffesional car shows organised by big sponsors/companies etc that have the exotic supercars such as Maserati MC12's and Veyrons and rare race cars that no one would ever hope of seeing on the road etc

You do have aceess to them mate, they are all available to buy, Not like previous Gran turismo's where certain cars could only be won, for example getting a gold on a License test.

In GT5 however even if you get all silver hope is not gone as all cars have a Credit value meaning if you miss out on the gold you can still buy the car, you wont get it for free but still!


Now, mate you said you bought the game for the cars, thats what you get, did you really actually think that all the cars are available from the start?? As isaid all the cars are there you just gotta race, win credits, and buy the cars like the rest of us! Come on man hardly any games would give you that, andf if they did the game would get dull very quickly as you have nothing to race for!

Don't know what he was meaning but either way, all the cars aren't available straight away. On older GT games, except for the cars only won by prizes, the only thing limiting you having all the cars you want is your money (easily fixed with a cheat disc) with GT5, now there is the silly level unlocking system. I don't go to a Nissan dealership and ask to buy a GTR only for them to say 'sorry sir, your A-Spec level is only 5, come back when you're level 12 then you can buy it.' And now they changed the Seasonal Events it's not exactly easy to get money to buy the cars compared to older games.
