Belias

Right. I'm seriously ready to pack this game in.

For the second time I'm confronted with a boss battle I'm having difficulty with. I don't mind the increased difficulty, but I seriously hate the fact that there is absolutely no prior warning to battles you can't back out of to gain experience for. Basically, it's a choice between defeating Belias or restarting.

*SPOILER ALERT*

Is there any simple way of defeating Belias that I'm missing? I only have two remedies and no other way of preventing/removing confusion from my team. Plenty of most other things.

Any help would be appreciated.

re: Belias

Yes, they did a big wrong when they give you the choice of winning an impossible battle or restarting...

since you cannot go back. it would be better if you listed your starting five and some of their abilities so when can give you better advice.

Trying Slowing him down and speeding your characters up and just pound him with your strongest abilities. Try to inflict any status ailments you can, Geomancer type thing would be ok...

If you are really desperate, try having five dragoons and have them all jump, it will take a long time, but if all five of your characters are in the air, they cant get hit.

re: Belias

There is warning. Every time there's a boss they give you a save mid battle, don't save over your other file...

But yeah, list who you have and we'll see what we can do. A little common sense thing though, that I'm sure you're doing, is to go after Belias and not any of the minions

re: Belias

Well, its not a matter so much of not being able to kill him as being able to kill him and have all five characters surviving. The five I'm using can pretty much do a little bit of everything without being particularly brilliant at anything. This is my first time through, after all.

Any ballpark estimates of how much HP/MP he has?

Do arts of war inflicted on Wiegraf carry over to Belias? (I do believe I already know the answer to that one, but just in case)

Thanks guys

re: Belias

No they dont.

make as many people as possible dragoons and just jump every round. This will minimizes damage to your party. Shiradori and Auto-Potion will help keep everyone alive too.

re: Belias

So hold the phone. What did you actually do to defeat Belias? Did you lose anyone in the process?

Maybe I'm just not reckless enough...

re: Belias

no no, I think everyone on this forum saves before every battle and restarts it if they lose a guy. I know I do. Usually strategies given by members of this forum are one that will make it so you dont lose anybody

Personally, I overtrained a little and beat him with a couple of Monks using shockwave then getting up close and personal with their great attacking stats.

The Dragoon strategy will work, but it may take awhile.

re: Belias

Physical attacks really supercede magical ones at the beginning. magic isn't good until you get secondary arithmatics on a black mage.

Personally, I had a Ninja, Summoner, Geomancer (double-handing), Black Mage, and Dragoon.

Hang back a round or two so as not to get pummeled with his Cyclops on the first turn and let him come to you. I moved in wih my physical attackers and dispatched him in 2 rounds. I was casting Faerie with my summoner to keep everyone healthy after round 1.

re: Belias

yea, BK is right, the best way to beat really any of the espers are to just wait back one turn and beef/protect your characters then once he comes to you, bash him with all your characters ASAP... One character might die on his next attack but you will still have 4 characters unleashing attacks next turn which should beat most by the second onslaught, so the character that dies wont run away... Whenever I did this, the person I had to defeat never survived the second onslaught.

Dual Wield can really help your physical charge a lot, try to get as many people dual wielding two strong weapons as you can.
