Like the other game vs. game discussion threads we've had, how about we compare various aspects of the game in detail, such as graphics, gameplay, sound/music, PvP, items, longevity, things like that. One word and one liner answers don't promote discussion I've never played GW myself.

I think Gw is not as good as WOW because you can't explore the world in GW with everyone else online, they have to be in your party for you to be able to quest with them. Its like GW is one big instance.

I've played Guild Wars for a long time, and from my experience, I have to say that World of Warcraft is much, much better.
After installing Guild Wars, I immediatly started playing. Excited as I was, I started the game... only to find out there's no choice between races? "WTF HUMANS!?" I created a character anyway, an elementalist, if I remember right, and started playing. Overwhelmed by the spectacular scenery and the game's wonderful music, I leveled a bit and soon... I didn't know what to do. I did every single quest, so I was wondering: Now what? I was stuck for a few days, until I started asking around. What do I do? How do I continue from this part? After 5 days, I found out I was playing in "Pre-Searing" ? "WTF!?" I went to "Post-Searing" and the world turned 10 times bigger, more annoying, and the scenery went from happy, beautiful and peaceful, to dead, deserted and creepy. This changed kinda ruined the game for me already. After having some experience with Guild Wars, I started to hate it. You can only meet and talk to people when you're in a town or outpost. Also, when you're in a team with new players, you'll have a 80 % chance of failing a mission! After finishing the game with 2 characters, I've got sick of doing the same thing over and over, and collecting money which took long as hell.
In the end, I'd say Guild Wars is too repetive.
When I started playing World of Warcraft, the first thing I saw was another player! Players everywhere, no loading time between cities and the wild, and a choice between 8 races! World of Warcraft has so many more features then Guild Wars, but in the Guild Wars forum, they'd probably think up some features and say the opposite. Also, people say that World of Warcraft is better because it has more players than Guild Wars. The Guild Wars fans of course, say it's because Guild Wars hasn't been on the market as long as World of Warcraft. They have a point, but in my opinion, World of Warcraft is much more of a RPG than Guild Wars, and will probably keep on attracting players, more than Guild Wars ever will.
So, go WoW! ^^

Everybody makes mistakes, such as yourself claiming Guild Wars came out before World of Warcraft. GW came out a good 5 months after WoW did (WoW was November 2004, GW was April 2005).

All right, I personally own both games and there are my opinions on them.
Guild Wars:
Graphics: The graphics of Guild Wars are simply amazing. Of course the only choice of characters are humans which makes the graphics a bit less complicated to render. However the scenery is mind blowing! Probably the only RPG with such amazing graphics.
Storyline: There is a definite storyline in GW which seems to lack in most other MMOs so it is a big plus for this game. There are also cutscenes in GW which I think is pretty original.
Multiplayer gaming: There is a lot to do in GW that requires more than one player. However the game fact that as soon as you leave a major city everyone but the people in your party dissapears. This is good because there is no racing to get the spawn of a monster but it also takes away the whole feel I think of an MMORPG because there is no real interaction expect for tactics on how to kill a monster. The wars however are different. They are extremely fun and clearly are well thought out.
World of Warcraft:
Graphics: The graphics of WoW are decent, however there are not as detailed and crisp as GW and could use some work.
Storyline: From what I see there is no set storyline but a series of connected quests that you can choose to do or to ignore. However the number of posibilities in this game are endless. There is so much detail I think that it is impossible to know everything in WoW.
Multiplayer gaming: Right now all I have done is some dueling but mostly grouping for instances and quests and I think that the groups are very well thought out in WoW. I cannot really expand on this since I am only level 21 right now but I will give more input on this game as I progress.
My verdict: GW if you just want to pick up a game for like a few hours a week or WoW if you really want to meet new people and are dedicated enough to always play.
Just my two cents
