Question...

Would this game work on a 1.6 GHz AMD Athlon XP 2000+ with a NVidia GeForce FX 5200 PCI with 128 MB with 1024 MB RAM or do I have to stick to the box requirements?

re: How Requirements work

The minimum is only for suckers, and less than that just is not going to work.

"What are the minimum and recommended system requirements for playing JE-SE?"

MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

* Windows XP
* 512 MB RAM
* Processor Pentium 4 1.8 GHz or AMD Athlon 1800XP
* 4x DVD-ROM Drive
* 8 GB free hard disk space
* DirectX 9.0 (included)
* Geforce 6200 or ATI 9500 or better (Shader Model 2.0 required)
* DirectX 9.0 compatible sound card
* Keyboard, Mouse

RECOMMENDED:

* 3 GHz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor
* 1 GB RAM
* ATI X600 series, NVIDIA GeForce 6800 series, or higher, recommended.

The XP 2000 is certainly adequate for Jade Empire, but the atrocious video card? Yecchh, what a horrible POS you have there! That's a sorry junker for certain. Already slow and unable to handle Pixel Shader 2, the it's stubby little dwarf's legs were chopped right off when it was stuffed into a nasty plain PCI slot.

There is no decent gaming card for plain PCI. Even if you had a real video bus connected to an FX 5200, it's broken when we're talking about Dx9's shaders. Very few s462 MBs didn't have some sort of AGP slot on them. That's the right connector for a proper gaming card.
