Well everyone knows that there is no legit way to get mew. So does that mean that the programmers intended that you weren't supposed to be able to complete the game? Or did they perhaps put the glitch into the game on purpose? Because it seems highly unlikely that they would create the sprite for Mew but never let you see in intentionally. So does anyone know the real story behind this?

I think that, for some reason, they wanted to make it so that people could only obtain Mew from one of Nintendo's pokemon promotional events. Fortunately the cheating devices and the Mew Glitch provide some alternate solutions.

actually, mew was kept secret from most of the programmers too, the guy who made pokemon stuck it in there before release. at least that's what pokepedia says anyway.

I really wouldn't call it a glitch, i think of it more as a secret, and little fun for the programmers, or creator or whatever.

I called it Mew Glitch because that is how it is referred to in this website.

There is a glitch tht makes Mew appear in a legit file. Has something to do with traveling to certain locations, leaving certain people unbattled and then fighting them later. Then flying just as they notice you.

Yeah, it's something most people know about by now. The point they're trying to get at is why was the Mew Glitch thrown in the game like that?

Well, as I already said, I believe it was unintentional.

the mew should be caught without any glitch one day!

My guess is that it would be put in there intentionally, since programmers needed to test if catching Mew on your cartridge wouldnt mess up your game. Its the same reason programmers put cheats in other games: to test if everything works properly.

well it is a dirty thing cause after...you wont be able to battle the trainer you used!

Yeah, but I have to say that it may use mew glitch because that's what it's called by most people. I just happen to think that that is the way you should catch mew, so it isn't a glitch...

it still is...but you are right...that is the ONLY way though...

although i did catch a tangela randomly using the gambler, but I am not sure, I don't know.
