TWEWNeo Mafia II - Town Wins

Hello, and welcome the TWEWY Mafia game thread! “What is Mafia?” you may ask. To put it simply, a mafia game pits an uninformed majority – in this case, the Players – against an informed minority – the Reapers – with each side trying to eliminate the others, and the last team standing wins
1. Reapers know who their teammates are and may communicate with them outside of the thread
2. Players only know their own identity and cannot communicate with other members about the game outside of this thread

This Mafia is, of course, themed after The World Ends With You – each participant will be assigned a character from the game; combined with your alignment, this makes up your “Role.” Most characters will also be assigned an ability that allows them to take a special action under certain circumstances.

1 – There may also be Individuals, who are on neither team and have their own special win conditions, which can vary from ones that require them to fulfill a certain condition before they can be killed, kill everyone else, .or others. There may also be Non-Aligned Players, whose ability allows them to choose a side later on, but are not initially allied with anyone and have no win condition – if they die or the game ends before they have chosen a side, then they are automatically among the losers.

2 – Some Players have communicating with a specific other Player outside of the thread as a character ability.



Game Progression

The game is divided into two alternating phases:

In the Day Phases, members vote in-thread on who they would like to lynch; if a majority of the participants can agree on one person, then that person is Erased. If no agreement can be reached, then whichever member has to most votes against them at the end of the 48-hour time limit is Erased. If there are multiple members with the same number of votes, then the lynchee will be determined randomly.

During the Night Phases, members with active abilities PM the GM with who and/or how they want to use their ability. Night actions may be changed or canceled at any time during the 24-hour time limit.

The game will end after the seventh Night Phase.



Voting

When voting, please do so in bold, and separate from the body of your post, like so:

Vote: Pheonyx

When changing a vote, you use the same format, but with “Change Vote” instead of just “Vote.” If you have cast a vote and wish take it back entirely instead of just changing it to someone else, use:

Change Vote: No Vote

If you wish for nobody to be lynched during a Day Phase, then you also have the option of casting a vote for “No Lynch.”

If there is a majority vote during a day phase, then that day phase will end early and the person with the majority of votes will be lynched.



Night Actions

When sending in your night action PM, please use a format similar to voting – for those of you with active abilities, this means using the bolded word from your role description. Some examples:

Investigate: Pheonyx

Kill: Pheonyx

Protect: Pheonyx

This is to help the GM keep straight who is doing what without having to memorize everyone’s ability or consult a list (more than is necessary, anyway).

If you have no intent to act during a night phase, please send a PM saying "No action". This will speed up the night phase so the GM doesn't have to wait for everyone's PM. You do not have to worry about this if you do not have a night phase ability.


Roleclaims

At any time you see fit, you may make a claim to which character you are and what your alignment is; this generally done as a manner of defending oneself, though the effectiveness will vary. An example:

Losing The Game

There are three ways in which the Players can be declared defeated:

1. At the start of a phase, the amount of Reapers is equal to or greater than the amount of non-Reapers

2. If at least one Reaper is alive at the end of the seventh Night Phase

3. If the remaining number of Reapers exceeds the total remaining non-Reaper kill opportunities; i.e., it becomes impossible to kill all the Reapers within the remaining time. Only the GM will know for sure if this has occurred.



Modkills

A Modkill is when the GM has to step in and Erase a member due to them violating one this game’s four rules:

1. Do not talk about the game outside of the thread with people you aren’t allowed to talk to it about.

2. Do not edit or delete your posts. Just like in real life, once you’ve said something, you’ve said it – no take-backsies. If you need to say something else or clarify a certain point, you are allowed to double post.

3. Do not quote anything from another member or the GM’s Private Messages to you in-thread without their permission, with the exception of your character name and alignment.

4. Do not disclose ANY information about the game (your power, the results of your night actions, the identity of your teammate(s), etc.) after your death has been confirmed in a write-up.

Beyond these restrictions, anything goes (all forum rules still apply).

Additionally, you will be Modkilled if you are absent from the proceedings (either in-thread or from night actions) for four consecutive phases – that’s six days IRL. Being active in the proceedings does not include one post every five days simply saying you are busy. If you’re going to be away for a while, say so ahead of time in-thread to avoid receiving a Modkill. Alternatively, you may simply send PM to the GM to notify them that you are still paying attention, but aren't acting/speaking for strategic reasons.

If you intentionally get yourself Modkilled to prove to the other Players the alignment of your teammate(s), then your teammate(s) will be Modkilled as well (only you will receive a Warning). You are still allowed to prove your teammates alignment be getting yourself killed legally, such as by intentionally getting yourself Lynched, or requesting that someone Kill you during a Night Phase.

If you are Modkilled, then whatever action or vote you would've taken that phase will be invalidated. After your first Modkill you will be issued a Warning; receiving a second warning will result in you being suspended from participating in the game again for one round.

Replacements
If you want to sign up after a game has started, you may sign up to be a replacement. Replacements will be called upon if a player is absent from proceedings. If you know you will be gone or too busy, please ask to GM to replace you.

If you’ve any questions about game progression in general, ask in-thread so that someone may assist you as soon as possible. Questions specifically about your role or ability works should be PM’d directly to the GM. Suggestions concerning things to be done in future rounds may be PM’d to the GM or posted in-thread, whichever you prefer.

Been a bit busy, still working on roles and stuff. My goal is to have it done Saturday night (my Saturday night, probably some of your Sunday mornings.)

There's no time limit this time. I decided to be nice.

And because SOMEONE had to be a wise ass, some of your abilities will probably mention "Player" and "Reaper" aligned. That's just copy-paste problems. We're being Town-Mafia aligned this game. Unless you guys really want to be Players and Reapers.
What I'm saying is that don't any of you dare try and use a loop hole on me.

The crowd all discussed possibilities for a first day lynching. One person seemed to be the most popular candidate when the Fedora man spoke up.

"Oh yeah, there's no time limit. We're in no rush."

A couple of the people in the crowd crossed out whatever they had written on their slip of paper, and then one by one turned them in. Fedora man read them to himself, then stood at his little podium and announced his findings.

"There will be no lynch today sadly. Also there were some of you who seemed to not want any food today. I would gladly starve whoever wants it but I'd rather get some sleep tonight, so whether or not you want to eat is completely up to you. See you tomorrow... if you're still alive that is."

It is now Night Phase 1. Send in your Night Actions sometime before 24 hours from now.

Sunset slipped away as the night... came in a way that sounds more poetic.

A girl passed a man and started up a friendly conversation. As the man was busy, he answered a few questions absentmindedly and continued following another. When the follower got close enough to his target, he started to mumble something incomprehensible to himself. However, the target overheard, and before the mumbler was done, the target slammed his fist into the mumbler's jaw, knocking him cold for the rest of the night.

Two people followed a man, but for different purposes. However, the man only went into his apartment and fell asleep, and nothing happened for the rest of the night.

One man crept up to his target. Once he could see is target's massive silhouette well enough, he raised his gun and shot it. The beast didn't even flinch, much less dropped dead, and realizing his failed assassination, the man fled.

AntipathicZora has been silenced and cannot speak this Day Phase.

It is now Day Phase 2. Cast your votes by 48 hours. With 15 people left, it takes 8 for a majority.

I'm not sure whether to be irritated by the fact you just called me his "wifey," or the fact that you insinuated that he can't protect me. Or the fact that I need protecting.

The sun went down, and a lingering smell was in the air. The smell... OF MURDER.

A woman met up with a man and tried to strike up a conversation. However, the man did as little talking as possible and quickly turned away. The woman didn't bother for more information as she got enough from that. She in turn went back home, unaware that another had saw the whole conversation. The eavesdropper continued to follow his target, but looked back curiously. He thought he heard someone mumbling behind him.

A man walked aimlessly around town. Eventually, a girl ran up to him. She took his hand and ushered him to come along. At first the man was a bit uneasy, but decided to follow anyway since he had nothing better to do. The girl tugged on his hand and they ran down the street together...

The man cocked his gun and took aim at another. This time his target was human, so there wouldn't be any surprises this time. Not this time. He took aim, and fired. The gun went off with a bang. However, his target did not fall dead, and instead turned around startled. Between the gunman and the target was a girl, still holding the hand of the man she was leading behind her, a bullet through his head. The girl chuckled, and then ran off. The gunman, though annoyed at his luck, decided to call it a night and get out before anyone saw him.

"Alright! Headcount!" Fedora man's voice acted as the alarm clock as all the players returned to Town Square. "1, 2, 3... Ah, 13. I'd say nice work, but I believe the GM is supposed to be rooting for the players... or no one at all... Oh, speaking of which..."

He grabbed his hat from off his head. "The rules of the game state that anyone who slacks off for four phases in a row must be dealt with, and by dealt with, I mean..." A razor blade popped out the rim of his hat, and he threw it Frisbee style at a woman, cleanly cutting off her head as the hat went by. Fedora man walked over and put his hat back on, not perturbed by the bloodstains.

"Such a shame, I had such high hopes for her. Ah well, back to voting."

Liiiiiiitle bit of a mess up on the write up. But it doesn't really affect anyone or the outcome.

Oh, and I'd like to make a suggestion for future games. In the future, you don't need to give everyone handicaps on their abilities. Just make normal abilities and some vanillas to even it out, if necessary. Giving everyone all these restrictions is troublesome.

No, that's boring. But if you really want no handicapped abilities I could comply next game.

No. I can threaten to ban them from next game, but as Kanon showed, it won't stop them. Nor will I actually ban them.

And imo, mafia strategy works like this.
1. Kill the smart ones.
2. Take leadership
3. ???
4. Profit!
5. Bandwagon the players off one at a time.

Still not done with *bleep*ing math homework. Here, have a quick writeup.

A woman walked out, looking for her target when she heard someone mumbling behind her. She shrugged it off and continued her search. She found the man she was looking for and started to approach him when two people from out of nowhere, one being led by the hand by a smaller girl, crashed into her. The leading girl quickly recovered and saw the man the woman was going after and grabbed him along instead. The boy and woman got up, but the other two were long gone. The boy introduced himself, apologized, and left.

After freeing himself from the grip of the girl who had ran him down the street, the man found another and kept an eye on him in case of any mischief, but nothing happened for the rest of the night.

It is now Day Phase 4. Cast your votes within 48 hours.

Apparently Cucurbita is just too hard for people to remember, so he got a lot of nicknames. For some reason, Capachino stuck (and no one's bothered to point out that it's spelled wrong,) so it got shortened to Capa.

And if people were to stay longer they'd find out what we're talking about.

With two mafia under their belts, the players discussed who was likely the last one. At first they started to bandwagon a girl, like their usual strategy. It seemed bleak for the girl, until she gained a spark of sudden courage and pointed the direction to another girl. A few followed her example, but the end of the day came all too soon.

"Time up!" The GM called out. "Time to tally the votes!" Each player sent in their votes, and the GM kept track on his finger. As the last one came in, he couldn't help but chuckle. "Oh ho, it seems we have a tie. Guess it's time to take out the old tie breaker!"

Fedora man took out two packs of dynamite. "Here's the deal, one of these is fake, the other is not. When I hit this switch, one of them will go boom, and take out anyone around. You there!" He pointed to the first girl. "You seem so sure of yourself. You get to pick!" Nervous, she pointed to the one in his right hand. He threw her the pack, and then threw the other to a girl with mouse ears.

"Count of three! One, two, Sayonara Sucka!"

And an explosion. The girl with orange hair was still alive. On the other hand, the girl with mouse ears was gone, save some burnt charcoals of feet.

The last of the Mafia has been killed. The Town wins!
Oh, and Cirno gets an applause too, since she was the Indy Vanilla Wolvie role.

I won't bother posting everyone's roles or explaining writeups or anything. But if there's something that happened in a writeup that's been eating at you, then feel free to ask.

Also, because I'm lazy like that, my next mafia round will be my last as GM, so I'll be continuing my tradition of making it a gimmick round. So be sure to totally sign up.
