It's not like it matters much. You play in First-Person View and do not get to see your character model except for cutscenes. I own the game, and the Instruction Booklet states that these are the playable characters:

That is true, but the game was made to compile the story, right? Well you can't very well do that while leaving out 3 main characters.

Sure they can, because they completely exclude RE2 and RE4 from this game.
No idea why, but rumors are that RE2 is getting some sort of rerelease on the Wii. ------------------- | |

yeh tru, if res evil 2 IS on the Wii it'll be sick, and i hope they make it so you can change the config so the controls arent screwed like on the previous one

it would be good if they can make it look and play like resident evil 4 but make it the story of 2 with some new stuff like you would play ada's story and also hunk and maybe something with wesker

Wesker has his own missions as does Ada.... the characters listed in the book are the ones used in the main story missions tho I'm pretty sure anyone by now knows this. they skipped 2 for some reason which kida sucks cuz that would be pretty cool to play through 2 on Chronicles.

I looked this game up earlier (dunno why) and was a bit confused that the two main characters of RE2 were left out... but this "rumoured" updated RE 2 for the Wii sounds like a good idea, even if it is just a rumour...
