Capturing Monsters - Neko Trick from D2?

Just wondering if the Neko Trick from D2 works in this one?

i.e. to capture a monster, you need to have someone with at least half of the monster's level in your base panel? I tried capturing a level 56 Neko with a level 40+ Ninja in my base panel early in the game and my base panel got destroyed lol.

re: Capturing Monsters - Neko Trick from D2?

Was the enemy weakened a lot before that?

The neko trick had em all level up, but gain no HP in the process, so they were all around what? 200HP?

I do think D2 is more forgiving for capturing monsters though...I missed out on capturing some good ones in D1 (afternoon), because of this >_>

So yeah, I think you need to have several stronger characters in your base panel, to stand a chance >_>

Also D2 had a convenient place for you to level up enemies as much as you wanted, Disgaea Afternoon doesn't have that, unfortunately -_-

Newb question: So you have a chance of capturing a monster by letting it attack your base panel while you have characters at least half it's level inside?

You pick them up, and throw them into your base panel >_>

And the 'half level' thing really only applied to D2...In D1 (and afternoon), it is less forgiving...so have a weakened enemy (low HP), and some strong allies in your base panel, sure....

Make SURE you've beaten that monster type at least once before (or rather, that you have that monster on your 'create a character' list) >_>

re: Capturing Monsters - Neko Trick from D2?

Holy shite, broom's here .

tallteen >> Well I guess it was somewhat similar. The HP of the monster didn't increase, IIRC. It kept whatever HP it had when it was still in the lowest level before combining. Oh and get this. I tried capturing a level 300 monster, weakened to about 10% health with a level 450 character (transmigrated twice at level 200s) in my base panel. The base got destroyed lol.

re: Capturing Monsters - Neko Trick from D2?

Ah, so did you, or did you not, defeat that monster type before? Was it on your list of creatable monsters?

Also, did you steal any items it may have had?

Also, I dunno if it is true at all, but I think it was said somewhere, that battles are also based on mana or some other qualification? I have no idea if that is true or not, so don't take it as fact >_>

re: Capturing Monsters - Neko Trick from D2?

Yeah, I basically met ALL of the requirements to capture the monster. I've checked if I could create it in the dark assembly. It was WAY lower compared to my stronger guy in levels. It was weakened. Maybe it was just luck lol. Its mana was still high and when you throw someone into your base panel, there's this thing that's called a mana burst or something. That something's mana points are converted into damage to a random character, something that's not in D2 -_-'

On another note, I just found out AFTER catching 5 level 500-600 monsters that they can't transmigrate into human classes. Bummer...

There IS a way to do it, indirectly anyhow >_>

Transmigrate them into Prinnys ^_^ And get enough mana and stuff, to transmigrate them into whatever humanoid class you want >_>

Double good in a way, since you get the Stat bonuses from the stored levels right off the bat after going from Prinny to Humanoid form...Still annoying >_>

And yeah, I wonder...is your high level character the first on the list? If so, perhaps move em down? Maybe the Mana burst only affects the first person on the list?

Lol, no, unfortunately not >_>

You get some 'bosses' in your party though...After you beat them >_>

Spoiler: About A bonus boss
Highlight this box with your cursor to read the spoiler text.
Some bosses would be awesome to have on your party (I can personaly attest to the fact that Prinny Ball = epic awesomeness power to have on your side)....

Capturing boss monsters would have been a good feature in a remake don't you think?

If you think about it, all of the bosses either join you, or have no reason (or possible way, story-wise) to be in your party. In other words, it wouldn't make sense to include the feature.

but still it would be cool, but if some of them are all powered that would make the game unfair, and i dont want to get an all powered boss in party if they put him too weak either

What I'd like, is the ability to have Baal in your party....La Pucelle Tactics did it, but the subsequent games didn't -_-

It would be really cool to have him in your party....He is hard to beat and all, and I wouldn't be upset if he started at level 1 >_>
