Ashley firmly told Katelynn. "But, the professor was so nice... he gave you Squirt, and gave me Ringo! Don't you think we owe him?" Katelynn asked Ashley, trying to appeal to her conscience. "No. We don't." Ashley responded, crossing her arms in disapproval. And just then, her Pokeball began to wiggle. Slowly at first, and then faster, until it finally burst open in a ray of light. And standing in that light was Squirt, arms crossed in a similar fashion to Ashley's. "What's your problem?" Ashley asked Squirt harshly, as Squirt rolled his eyes. "Squirtle. Squirt Squir, Squirtle!" he exclaimed to Ashley, as he walked toward Katelynn, showing whose side he was on. Ashley slapped her face in disgust. "Not you too? Well, I can't quite protect these people without a Pokemon, can I? Lets go ahead and protect the professor, Katelynn." Ashley said, defeated for the second time in a row. Squirtle then flashed his increasingly common smile, to which Ashley grunted to. "You're going back in the Pokeball, and need obedience lessons." she said bluntly, as she returned the Pokemon to its spherical home, and informed her employers of their decision. OOC: Ashley and Katelynn choose to protect the professor. ------------------- Is this Pokemon? Because you look like a Beauty to me, baby.

	As the battle between the two Pokémon raged on, Wade tried to keep up with what Torchic was doing all on her own. Her first move threw him off a little; all she seemed to do was waggle her tail feathers (short as they were) in the direction of the foe Ratatta. However, he spotted that the Rat Pokémon seemed to drop its guard a little as a result, for whatever reason. '...Huh. Maybe it's a Pokémon thing...?' The next thing he noticed was that, after the Ratatta's next tackle, Torchic seemed to falter somewhat... 'Uh, oh. This isn't looking good. Uh, is there some kind of etiquette for this sort of thing? Hell to it; if I'm wrong, the kid'll call me out on it.' "Hold it!" Wade yelled, effectively stopping the match for the moment, both Pokémon stepping back from one another, happy with the prospect of a quick breather. Joey shot a dirty look at Wade, but held his tongue as Wade knelt down to provide some medical attention to his partner ('Looks like it's standard fare. I wonder if wild Pokémon are as considerate?'). "Uh, let's see... It's a spray bottle, so I just spray the stuff onto the wounds, right...?" he muttered to himself as he took out one of the small bottles. He applied a few sprays to all of the bruises he could detect on Torchic's body (which was rather difficult, given the obstruction of her feathers), which, as it turned out, used up the entire bottle ('How inefficient.'). It served its purpose, however; Torchic was able to right herself up properly again, and looked more or less prepared to continue the fight. "Alright, go," Wade confirmed, backing away from the ensuing scuffle. As it raged on, Wade took note of how his Pokémon actually attacked. 'So Torchic... Torchics? Is that the plural? Whatever; the point is, they attack by tackling, as well? And it seems to be working about as well as the Ratatta's... Odd. I would have thought that she'd scratch with the claws on her feet, or something. I'd never have guessed that she'd be able to tackle effectively, given how light she is...' By the time he had remerged from this internal monologue, the battle had already ended, with his panting Torchic as the winner. 'Oh. Cool! First victory... Well, TORCHIC's first victory, anyway...' "Fantastic work, Torchic! Now that I've seen what you can do, I'll make a better effort to direct you next time," he sheepishly added after his congratulations. "Tor... Torchic!" the tiny Pokémon breathed, its still somewhat cheery tone implying that it wasn't holding anything against her trainer, who picked her up and placed her on his shoulder again. "Well, good match, Joey... Huh?" When Wade looked up, he bore witness to the kid as he ran away in tears over the loss, leaving his beaten Ratty behind. Whether this was a sign of cruelty, or simply a case of losing one's self in emotion, it wasn't totally clear. One thing was for definite, though: Wade couldn't just leave the poor thing just lying there. So, he approached it, to see if he could pick it up without fear of being attacked. "Raaaaa..." It seemed that it was too hurt and tired to care all that much. Nodding once in resolve, Wade picked up the Pokémon, and pursued Joey as fast as he could (which, given his poor fitness, was not that fast at all)... OOC: Joey ran into Red Town, right? 	*The Hero Hartmut* With that, Wade unlocked himself the game's first side quest! Returning Ratty After defeating Youngster Joey, the bawling child left his Pokemon behind. Care for Ratty until you can find his owner. OOC: Yeah, Joey ran back to Red City, or at least into that direction. I'll get to everyone else tomorrow. For now, it's bed time.

	When Wade eventually reached the town gates, he stumbled towards the nearest solid support he could find, and collapsed onto it with his free shoulder. Torchic wobbled on impact, desperately trying to keep its balance. Wade panted and wheezed, clutching at the painful stitch that had developed in his side. "Gaaaaah... Ugh... This... is why... I'm... doing this... Need to... catch... breath..." Though Wade knew that Joey could have gotten anywhere in the time it took him to recover, he just felt as though, physically, he couldn't go on for the moment. He slid to the ground, back rested against the gate's wall, Ratty still in arms, and Torchic still somehow managing to retain its equilibrium. "Haaah... Okay... Getting better... Let me think... I should probably get... Ratty healed, first... Torchic could do with... some treatment, too... Aren't there Pokémon Centres for that...?" Upon catching his breath, Wade got back to his feet and searched for this 'Pokémon Centre'. Turned out he couldn't miss it; the large building with a giant 'P' emblazoned on the front was seen to be relatively busy, with trainers and their Pokémon entering and exiting periodically. He entered, nothing an official document posted on the front door that advertised the Centre's services as being completely free of charge. '...That's too convenient. How on earth are the staff here paid? Not to mention the electricity bills from the lights pointing to the big 'P' alone. If it weren't for the presence of shops here, I'd almost say that this must have been a socialist society of some sort..' Nevertheless, he took a number from the machine, and, when his number was shown to be next, he approached the counter, which was being manned by a lone woman in nurse attire, with oddly-styled pink hair. 'Don't mention the hair, don't mention the hair, don't mention the hair...' 	Legatus OOC: Yes, but I decided to start calculating the attack shown with the STAB bonus, so when I go to do the formula I'm only subtracting defense, as well as calculating critical hits and resistances/weaknesses. RATTATA!" they cried, causing Kolorado to jump back and reach for a Pokeball. "Ester my dear! These are not the most welcome of guests! Let us battle together to oust our common foe!" Kolorado meant business & called out his Pokemon. "Nosepass! Give them a sound thrashing!" His Pokemon appeared & noted the Rattata, but seemed rather nonchalant. "Oh my, this poor fella is looking pretty grim, I'll make sure he gets the best treatment." She turned back to take him to the treatment centre. "I'll notify you when we're all done." Wade took a seat and waited for the Pokemon to be treated. After racking his mind about how bizarre the land he lived in was, the Nurse emerged with two pokeballs in a tray that looked kind of like a tray you'd put sodas in. "Wade?" she called, holding up the tray. He got up & took the two balls. "Your Pokemon have been healed! We hope you visit the Pokemon Centre again! Have a great day!" My... Pokemon? he thought, questioning whether he actually owned Ratty or not. For the time being at least, Ratty would be a member of Wade's crew, at least until he could find Joey. OOC: Ratty joined the party! Also, I just want to let you guys know that this may be my last post for a few days. I'm flying up to Buffalo on Friday and should be coming back late Saturday, so I probably won't be around until Sunday or Monday to get back on track with this. If my co-hosts want to keep this moving while I'm away, they're more than welcome to, if not, just hang tight.

	Ezra-Jane stared at the overgrown rats they were facing, wide-eyed. Rats were one of those things she just couldn't stand. She opened her pokeball and her Bulbasaur popped out in a flash of light. It didn't take long for it to understand what was going on; it seemed rather excited at the prospect of beating up on those Rattattas. "Alright, little guy, let's see what you can do. Attack one of them!" Ezra-Jane shouted. OOC: Okay, I'll go with growl initially, then tackles the rest of the way. It did not really bother Katelynn, though, she had had countless simulations at her Pokemon Prep School, so she was well versed in the art of battling. Spam Tackle; that always seemed to do well. Seeing how they had the upper hand, Katelynn commanded, "Ringo, use Tackle on his Ekans!" And the battle had begun. OOC: Well, Tackle till it's dead. Stevens shouted, as he & his comrade fled before the two girls instructed their Pokemon to start tackling them. Seeing them flee, Wayne & Trevor approached them. "Wow, you girls are quite good at battling... I'm glad you both came with us." Trevor said, smiling. But the smile quickly faded. "But they may strike again. We best be careful." "Oy!" Wayne called, agreeing with Trevor. "This don't look good. But we gotta get what we came for before we leave." Trevor turned to Wayne. "No, my research about the Shinx population in Emerald Forest will have to wait," he said sternly. "We should head back for now." Wayne shrugged. He was just a subordinate, so he had to agree.
