But in fact it was over two years ago since I played it...

In my humble opinion I think that cataclysm is much better I mean the original is good but the missions can get really really hard. like the junkyard! >.<

The problem with the Homeworld series is that there are only two teams that are playable and those two are way too identical.
In Homeworld they are exactly the same, in Cataclysm they're a little change but many units are identcial.
In Homeworld 2 they have really tried not to make the identical, but ended up with having the same ammount of units in each class, so it was all counterparts. Also the Hiigarans have their frigrates while Vaygr has fighters, and the fighters have no chance against some frigrates.

I think that a few of the ships look better in homeworld2 than they do in cataclysm but some of them look kinda ugly.
