Log in to remove this sponsored message Chronicles of Xenos Book II: Shattered Destiny Prologue: A white haired man in an old ragged brown cloak sat leisurely in his seat aboard a bullet train bound for Freete, the capital of the Republic of Xenotia. He sat in his cabin alone near the window, though there was room for three more. He looked out at the scenery as it streaked by, though his eyes sparkled as if he was actually taking it all in. He rested his bearded chin on one fist and began to hum a song to himself. He hummed it with both sorrow and happiness in his face and voice; it was obviously a tune that carried a lot of memories for him. The man's eyes started to water, just when a young man burst in the room. The dark skinned manned was dressed in a sleeveless green and white fighting ghi, just as worn as the man's cloak. His curly black hair swayed over his shoulders freely, as he spun around and plopped down the opposite bench seat. He immediately buried his face in his hands and groaned loudly, a strange blue tattoo was printed on his right forearm. The older man turned away from the window with a big grin on his face. "What's the matter, junior, motion sickness?" The young man shook his head. "Ah! Nerves then, that has to be it!" The man proclaimed with his finger pointed prominently in the air. "No", the man said in a horse growl. The man leaned forward and looked the boy up and down with a frown. Slowly a smile began to creep across his face and he whispered, "Did you do something with your hair?" The young man's head snapped up and he gave the man an angry glare. "You made me cut my ponytail!" The man scratched the top of his head and chuckled, "Oh yeah I did, didn't I?" The young man buried his face again and sighed, "I do hate you, Eldridge." Eldridge smiled and put his hand on the boy's shoulder, "Oh come on, Reign! You really going to let the loss of a bad hairdo keep you down. Besides If you walked around Freete like that, you'd be identified as a Naemian in a second." Reign sat back in the bench seat and shook his head, "No one even remembers Naem anymore." He turned to the wizard and continued, "And it wasn't just a ponytail! It was a symbol of my age and experience. And another thing you don't think a giant floating sword is a little conspicuous?" Eldridge shrugged his shoulders, "What sword?" Just then a golden hilt slowly nudged its way out of his cloak. The wizard quickly grabbed the pummel and tried to shove it back. As he struggled with the sword he grunted, "I thought we had this talk, junior *Get in, dammit!* You have to let those silly traditions of yours go *Stupid floating piece of-* You know, sacrifice for the greater good, and all that." Reign crossed his arms and huffed, "How did you talk me into doing that anyway?" Eldridge just smiled knowingly. The hunter turned to his mentor with an accusing eye, "You put a spell on me didn't you?" Eldridge feigned a gasp and placed his hand over his chest. "What!? Me? Use a hypnosis spell on you? Never!" Reign looked at him coldly and said flatly, "You're an ass." Eldridge flashed his goofy grin and reached into his cloak and removed a duffle bag from seemingly nowhere. He threw it over by the and said, "I talked you into cutting your hair the same way I'm going to talk you into wearing those." Reign raise his eyebrow at the strange wizard. He opened the bag cautiously, as if he were defusing a bomb. His eyes widened when he saw the clothes inside. "Guardian Corps surplus rags!? You have to be kidding me." Eldridge turned back to the window and chirped, "Eh-eh" "There is no way I'll wear this stuff! I don't care if we get thrown in a Xenotian jail the instant we step off this train!" Eldridge looked at the boy from the corner of his eye and smiled that annoyingly insightful smile of his. "Don't be so self-righteous. The military look is all the rage these days with kids your age." Reign pushed the bag off the seat and huffed, "Whatever " "Right", Eldridge sighed. "Well I know there's no use trying to talk any sense into that dense skull of your so " He turned to the boy and smiled, "Aren't you curious about my plan?" "You have a plan?" Reign said with a smirk. "Don't sound so surprised!" Eldridge said as he shook his fist. "I'll have you know I have a perfect plan." Reign rolled his eyes and sighed, "Do tell, oh-half baked one." "It is not half baked!" The wizard protested, still shaking his fist. "We're going to do what I should have done ten years ago when I had the chance. We're going straight to the top, junior! We're going to assassinate King Ryvox." Reign jumped up and exclaimed, "Are you insane!?" He then calmed himself and continued, "Wait, don't answer that. How the hell are we going to get to Ryvox? He never comes down from that floating city of his, and even when he does a small army surrounds him!" Eldridge smiled and nodded, "Nervous?" "Yes! Like a sane person should be!" "Sanity is so overrated. Now mad genius that's where it's at!" The wizard retorted and stood up as well. "Have you forgotten, birthday boy? Nocturnus begins tomorrow. King Ryvox is gunna have to come down to give that pompous speech of his." Reign stroked his chin, "So we attack him then? What about the Corps?" "Not an issue. You should know that I'm never that obvious. Are target will be his transport ship." "What good would that do?" "Velona will automatically shoot down anything that gets near it. The Celestials' private transport ships are the only things allowed within its defense parameter. The citadel's are manned by machines, so they'll welcome us in no questions asked." Reign tried to hold back his smile. He hated to admit it, but the old nut actually had a decent plan. "How do we get to the ship?" Eldridge smiled proudly, having gotten Reign's interest. "First we find out where its secret hangar is in Freete. Then we create a diversion on the other side of town. As the Guardian's scramble, a second group secures the transport ship, hijacks it, and we'll have until the end of Ryvox's speech to hightail it to Velona!" The wizard clapped his hands together and let out a hard laugh. "Wait Couldn't someone inform the king in the middle of his speech?" "No, that's the genius! He broadcastes from some secret room in Freete, completely locked down, so nothing can interrupt him. The only time and I mean the only time, Ryvox is ever purely focused is when he's doing his speeches. Don't know why myself, but not even his fellow Celestials could get through to him." The hunter sighed and sat down next to Eldridge. "How do you know all this inside information, anyway?" "Project M, junior! Believe it or not, it all started in Freete. That's when we gathered all the intelligence. I know what I'm talking about here." Reign stared at the wizard for several moments then smiled. Eldridge nodded and whispered, "Genius right?" "Maybe? But I'm not smiling at that." Eldridge looked at him with a dumbfounded expression. "What!?" He immediately covered his face and said in a muffled voice, "I got a booger in my nose, don't I? Dammit! I felt it, but I just didn't want to reach up and get it in the middle of my stirring speech, ya know?" Reign shook his head and turned away, "No, you just look really excited." Eldridge looked down and his face began to turn red. The hilt of his sword was moving around in his cloak near his waist. "Goddammit!!" As the man struggled with the sword, he fell on to the cabin's floor and began to roll around. Much to Reign's amusement, though he did not laugh. Just then the conductor's voice rang of the intercom, "We'll be reaching Freete in five minutes. Please have you license ready for inspection upon departure. Thank you." For those interested in this RP, and haven't check it out already, you can learn more about the world of Xenos here. Also Book I is completed here.
That being said, you don't have to read all it to be able to function in this RP. That's why I created the Glossary, just for quick references. ----------------------------------------- Story On the verge of one of Xenos' most momentous and dreaded occasions, the beginning of Nocturnus, two strangers venture to the world's largest and most advanced city, Freete. The two men have come with ominous intent. They intend to assassinate the revered King Ryvox Siltha. However they beleive they have good reason for wishing to bring an end to the alien ruler's 500-year reign. A few will join them in this pursuit, while others will do everything in their power to stop them. May they be inspired by honor, duty, or money; these individuals will travel down the weaving path of destiny together, and ultimately be dragged into something much deeper than they had bargained for. In the end... no one involved will ever be the same. RP Rules 1. All RP Forum rules apply here, so please check them out. 2. If you want to speak out of character use "OOC" 3. Please right your post in past tense and in third person. 4. Please DO NOT SCRIPT your dialouge (ie Synn: Shut up, Beck: Okay, okay) 5. A 7-Line posting minimum is strictly enforced!! It may seem like a lot, but if you use good descriptive writing it won't be a problem at all. 6. Feel free to be creative in the story, add things to give your characters depth. 7. Be aware that the course of story is not a straight one and drastic changes may occure. You get to choose if your character is with or against Reign. You can even switch if ya want. 8. The entire RP takes place in a few days, so don't stray too far from the main story. 9. Most importantly HAVE FUN!!! Important Characters This section will grow as the RP goes on. Basically the character's I will use will appear here as they are introduced into the story. However all of them will be entered in the Glossary soon. =Reign Haddon= Age: 20 Sex: Male Race: Human Job: Freelance Hunter/ Rebel License: Hunter, E-1t Magic: Reign was born with the innate ability to use all levels of divine and pure chaos magic. However to keep up appearances he learned some low-level water/ice magic. Weapon: Carries none. Appearance: He stands 6'2 and weighs about 190 lbs. He has a lean and muscular body. He has wavy shoulder-length black hair. His eyes and skin are both almond brown. He wears a green tank top, baggy black pants, and steel-toed boots. He wears a pair of finger-less leather motorcycle gloves on his hands, and a tamer gauntlet on his right forearm. Under the gauntlet is a rune tattooed in blue ink. He also dawns a short black hooded coat to help conceal his face when needed. Personality: A harsh and brooding young man. He is cold to most and doesn't trust others easily. He hardly smiles, usually only when he is making a snide remark of some sort. Reign has a strong sense of right and wrong, but has absolutely no sympathy for the Celestials and those that follow him. History: Reign is a survivor of the attack on Naem Village. The reports say the town was destroyed in an effort to stop a rampaging fiend. However the truth is that the Guardian Corps wiped out the small town. Reign still isn't sure why, but Eldridge, the strange man who saved him, claimed that the Celestials ordered there destruction because they saw his people as a threat. Once a happy, slightly timid child, his whole world was turned upside down when his village was destroyed. As the only survivor of the attack he has sworn to destroy the Celestials and their government. Since he was ten, Eldridge has training him in the ways of magic and the world. Now the two set off to Xentia to set in motion Project M and topple King Ryvox's rule once and for all. Other: Travels with a fiend named Kaiser. Kaiser is a rare ligrun fiend, which means it looks like a large tiger, with a lion's head and tail, but no mane. Its fur is a silvery gray with dark blue stripes. It is crowned with two horns at the back of its head that arced over the top at an angle. Kaiser has the ability to absorb true and ether magic; once he has absorbed enough magical energy he can unleash powerful light magic attacks. =Eldridge= Age: Unkown. Looks to be in his forties. Sex: Male Race: Human Job: Practitioner of Wizardry/ Rebel Leader/ Anarchist License: Wizard, S-4 Magic: All elemental magic Weapon: Says he carries none, but a large floating sword follows him wherever he goes. The sword has a golden cross guard, and the blade is about 5' long and 1' wide. Though the weapon appears to be made of stone it sounds like metal when hit. When light reflects off the sword it shines with a rainbow of color, like the inside of a clam's shell. All in all it is a very impressive and ominous weapon but the wizard claims he neither knows how nor wants to use it. Appearance: Eldridge stands about 5'8 and has tan skin. Knight's armor covers his entire body, but it is still apparent that he has a muscular physique. He wears an old worn brown cloak with a wide turtleneck collar over his armor. The robe is so long it drapes behind him, and it is slit to half way up his chest, so even when it is thrown over his shoulders, it still covers his upper chest. His white hair and beard are cut short. His eyes are a vibrant blue, despite his slightly wrinkled face. Personality: Eldridge is a bit of an enigma. He often acts carefree and ignorantly optimistic, but beyond his bright smile and twinkling blue eyes lurks a deep calculating mind. When he messes up, conveniently forgets things, or acts cowardly, things still always seem to work out in his favor anyway. It's hard to say if he does this on purpose or not. History: Eldridge's past is as puzzling as his personality. He never lets anyone know anything about his past or his motives. What is known is that Eldridge has a great dislike for the Celestials, and has dedicated his life to what he calls the Movement to Free Xenos from the Tyrannical Rule of Celestials that Most are Yet Unaware of or "Project M" for short. Eldridge claims to be a second order wizard, but his ability to manipulate the chaos are beyond the skill of even a master wizard. Whenever he is question about such things as his past or his abilities, he often shrugs the query off, changes the subject, and/or makes a corny joke. Other: Unlike other humans, Eldridge can inexplicable control all types of magic, including divine and pure chaos, at varying levels. He usually conceals his higher magic, and usually sticks with elemental magic. Though he never seems to be able to use any of his spells very effectively. =Krez Siltha= Age: 968 Sex: Male Race: Celestial Weapon: Carries two wristbands that allow him to use elemental ether. Title: Commander in the Guardian Corps License: Guardian S, A-4 Magic: All elemental magic Appearance: Krez is the youngest of the Celestials, but has the biggest chip on his shoulder. He is 4'5 and weighs about 75 lbs. He wears a body suit identical to his brother Ryvox. His hair is dark blue as well, but his eyes are rusty orange color. His shoulder length hair is pulled back in a short ponytail. Personality: Krez is the definition of a childish snob. Unlike the other Celestials he openly remarks about how much better he is than any human on Xenos. Despite that, he is a loyal servant to his brother, and always try a bit too hard to impress him. He sees anyone with comparable combat or magical skills as a rival, and will constantly try to out do them. History: Krez is the younger sibling of the leader of the original Celestials and captain of the Velona. Before their parents died, the Celestials telepathically passed on their knowledge to their children. Krez was just a baby and was unable to absorb any of the information. Leaving Ryvox and Kunn to teach the young Celestial the ways of his people. Many argue if it was his royal lifestyle or the fact that he was raised by teenagers that made him such a spoiled brat. However he is still consumed with a thirst to prove his worth to Ryvox. For the past fifty years, Krez has worked his way up from the bottom of the Corps to be the head of security at Freete's largest R&D facility, Plant A-001. There he impatiently waits for a chance to play hero and advance in the ranks. Other: All Celestials have guardian machines they are permanently linked to and can even meld with. Krez calls his custom archangel-seraph, Sandelphon. His seraph is the only one that is 100% Xenosian-made, and uses all four elemental types of ether. However Sandelphon has no other weapons. Krez must also meld with the machine in order for it to have the power to attack. It is similar to Neisha Zinpa's Shekinah, but is larger, has a masculine build, and heavier armor plating. =Ryvox Siltha= Age: 1886 Sex: Male Race: Celestial Job: King of Xenotia License: Slayer S, V-1 Magic: Pure ether Weapon: He uses an elegant silver rapier that is actually a caster. It allows him to use advanced pure ether magic. Appearance: The young Celestial is the most handsome of the males. His dark blue hair is cut short, but with bangs in the front. He stands just under 6' with a slim toned frame. His eyes are a deep and alluring crimson. His normal garb is a sliver body suit with blue trim and a mock-turtle neck collar. It is made of an elastic like fabric that feels more like silk, but is tougher than leather. He is never without his golden royal pendant; a large medallion depicting a bejeweled Xenotian crest hangs from it. For ceremonies he dawns a crown with three prongs in the front, the middle being twice the length as the outside two. A large black diamond is the only jewel in the gold ornament. A long flowing royal blue cloak with silver trim, comments the crown. Personality: Ryvox seems very cold and quiet at first, but upon further inspection one discovers he is actually constantly calculating. Probabilities, statistics, and scenarios are constantly running through his head, for this reason he is a very wise ruler. Even his quick decision are well though out. Ryvox is quite warm to most humans, though he rarely smiles, he will always stop to acknowledge passers by. Though there are still those who insist this is just a front, and Ryvox thinks of humans as nothing more than cattle. History: He is the eldest son of the original Celestial leader. He has since inherited his father's role and adopted another, as King of Xenotia for the past 500 years. Before their parents died, the Celestials telepathically passed on their knowledge to their children. Ryvox absorbed the most information, and was an obvious choice for the leader of the group. Crowned at the age of 1358, he was barely a teenager, but still a more than competent leader. He was once known for his openness and bright personality. After the Liberation War he began to become more secluded and spent more and more time in Velona. Now he rarely even visits the world below, outside of ceremonies and festivals, passing down his decisions from on high. Other: All Celestials have guardian machines they are permanently linked to and can even meld with. Ryvox is particularly powerful telepath and can call upon both the citadel Velona and/or the two seraphs that guard it, Michael and Gabriel. This message was edited by Zetram on Jan 18 2006.

Character Sheets
Couple things you should be aware of, character's must follow the license restrictions, and follow the achitypes I created. Also be aware that you will be place for or against Reign, but you will be given opportunities to switch up if you want. Magic & Weapon Regulation Committee Link Side Note: There are 7 types of magic. Elemental Class (Water/ice, Fire, Lightning, and Earth), Divine Class (Light and Dark), and pure magic. True magic users can only use Elemental magic, but ether magic users can use all 7. Licenses Civilian: A license for the everyday Xenosian. All humans are issued one by the MSRA Committee upon their sixteenth birthday. After their eighteenth birthday they are allowed to apply for a more advanced licenses. Grade G-1 Slayers: A license for people who use weapons and/or magic to make a private living. Slayers are usually people who are contracted by small towns to slay fiends. They can also be private security personnel, bounty hunters, or gladiators. Up to Grade D Hunters: A license for people who track and/or hunt fiends for a living. They are the only group allowed to tame and use magic. All hunters wear taming gauntlets for capturing wild fiends, even if they don't have a partner. Grade E Healers: A license for people who use higher-level divine magic, but cannot use any assault magic. They are given the most magic liberties of any private citizens, except for wizards. Grade B-1 or B-2 Guardians: A license for people who have enlisted in the Republic of Xenotia's army. Guardians are allowed the most attack magic liberties. However they are at the beck and call of the Republic and their superiors. They are the policing force of Xenotia and hunt fiends on a global scale. Depends on rank, ranges from Grade E to B Wizards: A license for people who have reached the second order of wizardry, or practitioner. They are the only beings on Xenos allowed to use any strength of type of true magic. Mostly they wonder the world perfecting their skills, molding their craft, and even teaching basic magic. Grade S Shattered Destiny's Caste Yes the character's a pre-made, but I think I left a lot for you to work with. I had to do this, because the story is flexible, but I need people to fall into pivital places in order to make it work. All characters, except the cowboy, have male and female counterparts. Just because your a guy doesn't mean you have RP as one I'll be accepting sheets for about a week, then I'll choose the best ones to be in the RP. So please be creative. The Rebel: Irish_Gamer Name: Miarna Leks Age: 26 Sex: Male Race: Human Job: Club owner/ Rebel leader License: Slayer, Grade D-2e Magic: lightning and water/ice. Weapon: His father handed him a yew bow while on his deathbed. Told Miarna that the bow magically enhances accuracy of the bow, but Miarna hasn't seen any evidence of this thus far. Generally only carries this 5ft yew bow and arrows, but sometimes carries a dagger for extra protection. Appearance: Standing at six foot exactly, Miarna has short thick brown hair, with hazel eyes. His skin his moderately tanned. He has the appearance of being quite scrawny, but in actuality is deceptively strong. The perfect build for a scout, he usually wears dark clothes and walks the streets at night, always looking for more recruits. Personality: Focussed and determined, he has few friends and they rarely see him laugh. His father's death turned him into a cold person, and his only goal is the assassination of King Ryvox in a tribute to his father. History: The son of a rebel group leader based in Capital City. His father was killed in a failed assassination attempt on King Ryvox over 10 years ago. Nearly the entire group was slain, leaving just a few survivors. He picked up where her father left off, but never forgave the man who left the group stranded when they need him most, Eldridge. Other: Works extremely hard in keeping the rebel group active and training new recruits. Doesn't want to let his father's efforts be for nothing. The Cowboy: TheGreatKayel Name: Azreaux Age: 24 Sex: Male Race: Human Job: Bounty Hunter License: Slayer, Grade F-3e Magic: Low level Fire, Dark, and Lightning Weapon: Azreaux's weapon is what most would call a hand cannon. The bulky hunk of metal is, in most hands, unwieldy to say the least. Most people would have trouble even lifting it to fire its oversized .70 calibur rounds. Experience and persistence has taught Azreaux to use what was originally a tool for intimidation with an impressive level of proficiency. Even for him, however, it is difficult to fire successive rounds. As a result, the weapon is used less for actual firing, and more as a caster. Well aware of the limitation of his primary weapon, Azreaux also carries two smaller, more modern handguns, which he can conceal more easily and draw much faster. Appearance: Cowboy by profession, cowboy by dress. Azreaux has naturally pale skin, which is accentuated by his dark brown trenchcoat and hat of matching color, giving his face a deep, mysterious darkness. His face is poorly shaven and his hair greasy and tangled. He did manage, through the use of his hat, to keep his shoulder length, sun streaked brown hair pulled back out of his face. This did nothing to make his face seem more human, as the brim of his hat cast a constant shadow over his bloodshot blue eyes. Both the hat and trenchcoat were fashioned of leather by Azreaux himself. Their imperfections and crude construction and stitching gave them an almost horrific appearance. It truely looked as though it was a living creature's flesh hung about his broad shoulders, not just a processed material. Personality: The aloof type. Never lets anyone know what he's feeling or thinking. What emotion he does let slip would lead most to believe that he does not enjoy the kill, but rather lives for the hunt. History: Born and raised in the Wild Lands. Well-known bounty hunter in Frenzia. Sent to bring in Eldridge dead or a live by anonymous benefactor. From an early age, Azreaux learned to appreciate and love the hunt, the sacred communion between man and beast. He was frequently scolded by his father, however, for setting his prey free once he had completed his quest. He quickly learned that the hunt bore no fruit without the kill, which he no interest in. Never the less, the kill was a part which he could not avoid. This was the primary motivation for the fields of magic which he studied. He found that dark, fire, and lightning magics were the quickest and most effective for ending the hunt. Eventually, Azreaux grew eager to find new, different hunts than those he could find in the Wild Lands. Seeking new challenges and dangers, he began working as a bounty hunter, letting his clients choose his hunts for him. The Scientist: legendhunter Name: Dr. Ivy Lilienfield Sex: Female Age: 31 years old Race: Human Occupation: Fiendish behaviorist and researche License: Healer, B-2 Magic: Both light and dark Weapon: None Appearance: In keeping with the discipline of her rigorous profession, Dr. Lilienfield's appearance is unfussy and unimposing, giving her a severe, almost ascetic quality. Her speech is clipped and precise, her gestures few but emphatic; even her stride has the cool, businesslike efficiency that marks almost everything she does. Slight and pale to the point of translucence from long years of academia, she wears her coppery hair in a single thick braid down her back. Only a few errant strands escape to flutter about her small heart-shaped face, with its perpetually pursed mouth and wide, thoughtful grey-green eyes. Often, her hair and eyes seem to be the only points of color to be found, for she habitually wears white even outside the laboratory, preferring its clean simplicity and elegance. Personality: Though a small, slender woman, Dr. Lilienfield exudes a surprisingly commanding presence through her intense dedication to her work and the intelligence and resourcefulness she brings to it. Perfected through a lifetime spent mastering the mysteries of science, hers is a mind widely respected for its cold, calculating analytical and deductive ability. She possesses a remarkable, almost single-minded devotion to her work. There is something about her at once poised, brilliant, uncompromising, and faintly disagreeable. Only those closest to her can look past her stern self-possession and see the deep warmth and compassion within. Though undemonstrative, she is capable of powerful loyalty and love and can be grimly unforgiving if she feels they have been betrayed. History: Well-respected today for her many erudite publications discussing the behavior and genetics of fiends, Ivy Lilienfield had originally been reared to follow in her parents' and elder brother's footsteps as a wizard, practicing elemental magic. For years, she obeyed, excelling in her studies but forever aware of her brother's natural talent as a wizard. No matter how hard she competed against him, Ivy could never match his superiority and both hated and admired him for it. However, when Ivy was nineteen and away at college, her brother died suddenly in a tragic accident at only twenty-one years of age. Her parents were devastated and to this day have never quite recovered from the loss of their son. Ivy too was beset with grief, regretting all the years she had detested her brother's gifts. With his death, she lost all interest in pursuing a life as a wizard and immediately transferred to a different university, with a wildly different future in mind. Rather than half-heartedly living her brother's life for him, she decided to follow her inner calling instead as a scientist. Though a middling wizard, Ivy had always scored high in biology and psychology, as well as showing especial brilliance in analyzing and deducing scientific challenges. She was quickly disowned by her parents for her change of heart, a move that upset her profoundly and eventually embittered her towards forming intimate relationships with anyone. Very few people have since managed to befriend her, though she has proved loyal and warmly generous to those who have remained close to her. Nonetheless, Ivy quickly proved herself an exceptional scientist and chose to specialize in the little-researched study of fiendish biology and interactions. Driven by the memory of her dead brother, she has devoted herself entirely to her work, as though still competing with his ghost for the praise of her estranged family. She now works in a research division of the Xenotian government. Though deeply attached to and genuinely serious about her work---as proved by how she sacrificed her parents' support to pursue her current occupation---Ivy occasionally can't help feeling disgusted by the way the government treats the fiends who become her test subjects. Having known what it was like to be forced by others to be something contrary to her nature, she sympathizes with the struggles of the fiends against their captors. Other: Though technically a healer and therefore a user of divine magic, Ivy has an unusually advanced knowledge of elemental magic due to her background of studying to be a wizard. In addition, due to her scientific training, her understanding of the nature of chaos and ether in general is deeper than most would suspect. While neither an avid or especially proficient user of magic in general, her expertise in these areas has helped her tremendously in the past when she has needed to call on her magic to aid her. The Scientist II: Wyvern Knight Zero Name: Robert Azrael Age: 27 Sex: Male Race: Human Job: Engineer License: Healer, B-# Magic: Light and Dark. Weapon: Robert Azrael uses a weapon that was actually intended to be an all-utility machine for excavating and mining in small amounts, long since shot down by Xenotian government ("You don't have much history on these kind of things At least, not as much as others. Our staff recommends that someone else is selected. Good day") . This machine is actually a light-weight, but not at all small backpack that has eight appendages that can be extended and wielded flexibly like a whip or stiff like a spear. These eight appendages have interchangeable drill-bits that Robert further customized when his plans for it were shot down. These customized drill bits can be at times not even drills, customizable between small hatchets, spears, whips, swords and many other items. Appearance: At times Robert Azreal seems to be nothing in terms of sexuality; it is very hard to determine whether or not Robert is a male or female by looking at him. His face seems powdery and pale, with blue eyes that are soft and make him appear a female, but then one sees his slightly crooked nose and their opinion is changed. He has braided dreadlocks of radiant blond hair that travel all the way down to his sunken and skinny midsection. He is of average height and has no muscle, due to his lack of workout (or need of it). Personality: Eccentric is the best way to describe him going against the norm of everyone around him, and above him like his superiors. Apart from that, he is at many time a sadist critic, criticizing the things his colleagues invent, suggest or even merely speak out as a passing notion. Goes off on tangents often, especially right after he is shot down or when he is rabbling on about something in his anger. Very "Outside the box" thinker, but he often scolds himself for it as his inventions and products of his 'superior' mind are constantly looked down upon. However, his kind of lateral thinking can get himself out of tight spots, ranging from unemployment or downsizing all the way to actual pain and danger. History: Eccentric genius, who works for the Xenotian government developing weapons and robotic, having been thoroughly fascinated and taken with them during his youth. Utterly bored with slaving away at the development plant, and having most of his ideas shot down or changed(there are only 4 things that have made it into actual patented inventions that were not changed, and even then they have lawsuits pertaining to them by people stating they were the inventors of the weapons . Chapter 1 of 4: The City of Freete
Reign rolled the sleeves of his jacket back to the elbow, and then rolled his shoulders. It was quite strange for the Vurdel native to wear the modern garb worn by the more civilized people of the world. The tight fitting synthetic fabrics felt itchy on his skin. However his discomfort was overshadowed by the shame he felt for wearing a taming gauntlet over his rune tattoo. He looked down at Kaiser and could see the same humiliated look in the ligrun's eyes. The beast stopped and pawed at the large metal ring around his neck. The hunter knelt down and ran his finger along the glowing red lines of the collar. He then turned a hateful glare to Eldridge. "How in Xenos do you keep talking me into this stuff?" The wizard shook his head and walked on down the immaculate streets of Freete, "We're not going to do that old song and dance again are we?" Reign sighed and stood up. Kaiser growled and followed along side him. They made sure to stay close to the wizard on the crowded and noisy sidewalk. The young man looked up at the towering buildings of concrete, steel, and glass. Never before had he seen such magnificent structures. They seemed to stretch on forever, that is until the small hovering Guardian Corps cruisers floated just above them, and then swooped down to a lower altitude. The Naemian hadn't realized that beings of such destruction would be able to create such amazing things. He was so entranced by the world of the Celestials he hadn't noticed the electronic voice speaking to him, "Third license identification request ignored. You now have ten seconds to produce your license, or submit a suitable excuse for possessing regulated technology. If you do not, the Guardian Corps will be notified." "Yo! Junior!" Eldridge exclaimed. Reign snapped out of his daze and looked at the old man. Then noticed the strange floating orb next to him. The hunter jumped back, and Kaiser lowered his body and growled threateningly. "What the hell!?" Eldridge walked over to him and put a comforting hand on his shoulder, "Easy, killer. It's a scout droid. The things float all over the city randomly checking people for their licenses." Reign raised his eyebrow as he reached into his pocket. He raised his picture ID up to the metal orb's glass eye. "The Republic really is as tight as everyone says it is." The droid eye flashed twice and chimed, "License verified: Hunter Grade E-1t Elemental Class: water/ice Thank you, and have a nice day." As the orb flew off Eldridge laughed, "Yep-per and they really hate tamers too. The Celestials have an innate distaste for the beasts it seems." Reign watched the orb disappear off in the distance and shook his head. "So where's this rebel group of yours anyway?" Eldridge spun around and shushed him. He then whispered, "Keep that on the QT, Reign. Just up here is a popular club, that's where we'll find them." A few minutes later, the two arrived at a two-story structure. It looked like a run down brick warehouse, with a descending staircase leading to a set of double doors. Standing guard at the top of the stairs were two large men dressed in matching jeans and t-shirts. One stopped the old man and the hunter and said, "It'll cost ya 10 credits each, and you'll have to check the fiend." Reign crossed his arms and muttered angrily, "Excuse me?" The bouncers frowned and began to step toward him, and then Eldridge jumped in between the two. He flashed two plastic cards and said with a smile. "No problem gentlemen! Here you are. He's just a little excited, because it's his birthday." The bouncer took the money and looked a Reign angrily from behind his dark glasses. "Alright but the fiend has to stay over there." The large man gestured over to a small pin where two other fiends were laying lazily. Reign and Kaiser looked at the kennel and they both growled. The hunter pet the ligrun its blue tattoo, identical to his own. "Okay, Kaiser. You're going to have to be cooped up for a little while longer, buddy." The fiend walked toward the cage, but stopped just before entering, turned to the wizard and roared angrily. As the bouncer closed the pin behind the ligurn, Eldridge shrugged his shoulder and muttered, "What did I do?" Reign and Eldridge walked down the stairs and pushed their way through the doors. As soon as they did, a wave of pulsating sound hit their bodies. The loud whale of guitars, thrashing of drums, and alien whine of keyboards assaulted their ears. Elridge grabbed his ears and shouted, "Is this what the kids are into these days!?! What sort of deranged beings would call this crap music?!" Reign wasn't paying attention. He was too busy watching the crowd bouncing irratically like an angry sea. He then turned to the wizard, nodding his head to the beat, and shouted, "Wow! I don't know what this is, but I like it!" "Figures", Eldridge sighed as he moved toward the back of the club. The two reached a door, which the wizard casually opened with a key. Reign closed the door behind them, and the two walked down a spiral staircase and then down a long well lit hallway. At the end there was a small room, guarded by three bouncers. The music above could be heard faintly, but the force of the bass was a strong as ever. Beyond the thin veil of a screen, the hunter could see three people sitting at a round table. Monitors flashed all around them, no doubt showing what was going on upstairs in the club. The three guards were much more aggressive than the first two. They immediately advanced on the two strangers, brandishing guns. The one in the middle said in an ominous tone, "I don't know who you are or how you got in here. But you're leaving right now!" Reign looked over at Eldridge and whispered, "I thought you knew these guys." The wizard turned and winked at him. "No prob, just been awhile is all." He then turned to the bouncer and recieted, "When the second sun sets, we shall pay all debts." The bouncers looked at one another with confused expressions. Elbridge cleared his throat and said "Uh How about the 'Open sesame' no that's not it How about 'Viva la resistance'?" The leader pointed to Eldridge, and the other two grabbed one of his arms and picked him up. Reign stepped away and a purple glow began to radiate from his clenched fists. Just then the wizard's strange floating sword slipped out from under his cloak and flipped up and over his shoulder. The two bouncers dropped the wizard in their surprise. All three then pointed their weapons at him. "What the hell is that!?" A voice called from behind the screen, "Stand down boys Let the wizard and his friend pass." One of the bouncer's then noticed the strange energy Reign was producing and holstered his gun. Reign dropped his hands and said coldly, "Good choice." The two strangers then entered the room This message was edited by Zetram on Aug 05 2005. ------------------- "I have given you the hint. Miarna was sitting behind his desk, dressed in a dark suit, with black shirt and black tie. Behind his desk the wall was covered in screens, cameras not only monitoring the club but various nearby streets. The desk was littered with various pages with building plans and writing on them. He ignored his two visitors for a moment, before standing up and shaking the young mans hand. He ignored the wizard.
"Miarna Leks I don't believe we've met," he said politely. The young man nodded to him. "Reign Haddon." "Now that we're all acquainted " he said, but Reign cut him off suddenly. "But we're not all acquainted, you've just ignored - " "Eldridge. I know perfectly well who the wizard is, thank you very much. What do you want old man?" "You're help," Eldridge whispered. He had been standing back until this point had stepped forward with his hands beneath his coat, no doubt holding down his floating sword. Miarna nearly chocked on a gulp of water he had taken. "Help? Help?! After what you've done to this place? You nearly destroyed us Eldridge. We could have gotten stronger after he died with more sympathy recruits, but you left. You abandoned us without a word. It'll take a lot of explaining on your part to gain my help," he said standing up suddenly and pacing the room. Eldridge moved forwards and had a pleading look in his eye. "Your father and I were friends, Miarna. You know that. You know I wouldn't leave unless I had good reason. And believe me, I had good reason," he said, gesturing towards Reign. Both of the younger men looked confused for a moment. Then, Miarna sat down, leaning back in his chair. "I'm listening." ------------------- Don't ever let anyone tell you you deserve that...

Eldridge grinned, knowing he had gotten Miarna's attention. "That's what I always liked about you kid, just like your dad, smart enough to know a good opportunity when-"
"Eldridge, stop rambling", Miarna said as he sat back down, adjusting his tie. The wizard nodded and rubbed the back of his head, "Heh, heh Sorry bout that. That's what I always liked about you kid, just like your dad, patient, to the point, and-" "Eldridge!" This time both Reign and Miarna shouted in chorus. The two young men exchanged a glance, before turning their attention back to the strange wizard. Eldridge took a deep breath and sighed, "Right moving on." He looked over at the screens and walked about the room as he told his tale. "When the original members of Project M, began gathering info, your father and I came across some interesting memos. They told of a village that had been under covert surveillance for nearly forty years. Naem was a simple village of hunters. Despite the fact they refused to use technology, there was nothing of interest there. Your father dismissed it, but I wasn't so sure. I kept digging and discovered the Celestials suspected some sort of danger would emerge there. Something so powerful they were ready to annihilate the entire town the moment any evidence of it appeared. A week prior to the assassination attempt, I found out that this danger was a kid. A human child with the innate ability to manipulate the chaos, just like the Ruukaji of old. Even more startling the communiqués from the recon team seemed be confirming the child had been identified. Ol' Leks wasn't about to abandon the job we'd been planned for the past two years on some crazy story of mine. But I I just knew that if we could save him, we'd have a sure thing. A weapon strong enough to stop the Celestials once and for all." Miarna looked at Reign with amazement, while the hunter looked at his feet sorrowfully. He then turned to Eldridge and exploded. "So you think that makes it okay! You think the deaths of my father and the others was worth him!" Reign stepped toward the rebel leader and slammed his fist on the table. His bouncers immediately drew their weapons on him. "While your father and his men died My entire village was burned to the ground! Everyone I ever knew or loved was taken from me! And you know what the worst part of it is? No one even knows... or cares." Eldridge put a hand on Reign's shoulder, and the bouncers lowered their weapons. "They covered it up. The Republic claimed a possessed fiend destroyed them, and Corps incidentally leveled the town in the process of slaying the beast." Miarna shook his head. "So why come back now? If he's worth sacrificing so much for, why do you need us?" Eldridge smiled knowing. "Drop the act, kid. I know what you intend to do." Miarna turned away, "I have no idea what you're talking about." "I know you going to try the same assassination plan we attempted 10 years ago", Eldridge said with a wink. The club owner looked at the wizard from the corner of his eye. "Further more, I know you'll need us to make it happen." Miarna jumped up and slammed his hand down on the table, "How in the hell!?" Eldridge nodded, "Yep! I also know your so-called rebel force is just a rag-tag gang of street hoods. Barely a decent spell caster or marksmen among them. If I recall, overcoming the power of the Guardians, even in small numbers, was the key to this plan." Leks shook his head in disbelief. "There is no way How could Who " However he could not finish his questions as he looked into Eldridge's seemingly blissfully ignorant expression. "Don't bother", Reign interjected. "Eventually you have to just except the fact that this bumbling old fart knows too way much about way too many things." Leks then walked over to Reign, and circled him, as he looked the hunter over. Reign raised his eyebrow and crossed his arms. "You got a problem?" "He's got an attitude on him", Miarna groaned. "You have no idea", Eldridge chuckled. Miarna then stood in front of Reign and asked, "So what can you do?" Reign glanced over at Eldridge, and the wizard nodded. He then raised his right hand, his palm turned upward. A sphere of purple energy appeared from nowhere and hovered over his hand. Miarna stared at the orb as it swelled and shrunk before him, and then exclaimed, "Is is that pure chaos magic!?" Reign nodded, "That's not all." He began to close his hand and the purple ball darkened, until it became a dense black. The Naemian narrowed his eyes and the orb flew upward, as it descended he snatched it out of the air with his other hand. When he opened his left hand, the dark energy had become a brilliant white sphere. Miarna marveled as the orb designated into floating golden embers. "I can use divine magic as well." The rebel leader turned to Eldridge and smiled, "So he can use higher level magic like you can?" The wizard nodded, "Better." Miarna wiped the smile off his face and cleared his throat. "Perhaps we could use you then." Eldridge threw his hands in the air and cheered, "Excellent! Just like old ti-" "But this is my operation!" Miarna interrupted as he grabbed the wizard's tattered cloak. "You will listen to me." Eldridge flashed a goofy grin and laughed, "Sure, Leks. You're the boss." The rebel leader nodded and let him go. The wizard then bowed his head and began to back away. "Well I gotta get out of here. I'll be back in a few, alright?" "Wait. You need to be briefed on the mission." Miarna ordered. "Naw", Eldridge said with a grin as he turned around. "I already know my part, anyway. I sneak into the hanger while your group distracts the Guardians across town. Remember, kid it was my plan first." With a wave the wizard excused himself and walked down the hallway. "I do believe he has gotten stranger in the past 10 years", Miarna said with a bewildered expression. Reign shrugged his shoulders, "You get used to it." "You do?" "Well More like you learned to ignore it." Miarna nodded, "Ah, I see." Reign sat down at the table. "You know the old man never does anything without some obscure reasoning." The rebel leader joined him at the table. "And this sudden disappearance?" Reign rubbed his chin for a moment then looked over at the rebel. "I suppose he wants us to get to know one another. We do seem to have a lot in common." "I suppose", Miarna said coldly as he gazed up at the monitors. Several awkwardly silent minutes passed and he muttered, "We're not going to that whole mushy 'friends united by a common goal' thing are we?" "God, I hope not", Reign replied with a smirk. ----------------------- OOC: Alright guys, you know your starting points. Wanderer and Cowboy can jump in now. Deaqon and Gigon were strolling through the streets of Freete. He was in dire need of money. No one wanted an old hunter anymore. Let alone a vagrant. Though time and time again he proved them wrong. Every place he looked, he got shunned. He entered a bar to grab a little drink with what he had left. He walked up to the bar, "Keep, gimme what you got." Deaqon threw the money on the counter.
"Heh, that won't get you much." He reached below the counter and brought a shot glass. He poured whiskey into it. Though only went half full. "There ya go." Deaqon looked at the glass, and took it down in one try. "Bah, not enough." With that he left the bar, and continued his trek. Hoping to find another drink. He soon came upon a club, and ventured within. The place was filled with patrons. For some odd reason, both he and his fiend Gigon were drawn to this place. He had left Gigon outside, for the club allowed no fiends within. He found a table near the back. He had found a bit money on the ground. Hopefully it was enough to buy him a real drink. He waved on a waiter, and she took his order. Deaqon began to scan the crowd, when something golden caught his eye. It was coming down the stairs to which presumably lead to the owner's office. He instantly recognized is as belonging to a wizard who helped him sometime ago. He was with someone. A boy. "Interesting. Very interesting." He muttered to himself. The waiter came back with a good sized glass of whiskey. "Just what I needed." He took a swig, as he continued to watch the wizard. ------------------- If You're Like Us. Calling All Riders. The air within the train station hung thick, stagnant, only relieved periodically by the coming and going of the trains. Even then, the gusts of fresh air only served to swirl the smoke and humidity momentarily before surrendering to the heat. The atmosphere hung close, but not as close as the swarms of people pushing and running to make it onto their respective cars.
"This place..." he thought. Among the crowd, but somehow seperate, somehow not there at all, Azreaux stood still, eying each person that passed as well as the monitors above announcing the arrivals of each shipment of citizens. "This place stinks of foreigners..." Azreaux appeared as a statue amidst a busy sidewalk. He was among the ranks of the living, yet he was something totally seperate from all the others. "All of these people staring at me as they pass. They take heed as if they were rodents sneaking by a lion." Indeed it seemed as if the entire station was cautious of him. Even the air seemed to become more still and lifeless around him. "You should all rest easy...I'm an invisible predator. If you've seen me, then I have no intention of harming you. Fearing me is futile, if you have reason to, you will never get the chance to begin with." Azreaux took a sudden step forward as one of the trains came to a stop and opened its doors. "All of you, take a good look at me now, because when I walk out of this station, you'll forget I ever existed." Azreaux quickly made his way to the side of the train and scanned the passengers as they exited. He stood patiently, resting his shoulder on the side of the train and pulling his hat down slightly. It was only a moment before he picked out the old man in the dingy cloak. "Eldridge...You've lost already old man. Don't make it so easy." Azreaux tipped his hat up for a moment, momentarily letting the pale sunlight fall on his cold eyes. Azreaux stood still and watched as Eldridge and his two companions made their way out of the station before laughing deeply. "Can this really be the infamous Eldridge? Is that all the great second order wizard amounts to? I'll show you no charity, old man." Without another thought, Azreaux followed the path taken by his targets outside. Confidently striding out of the station, Azreaux suddenly found himself standing right behind Eldridge, who was prodding Reign, trying to get him to produce a license. Azreaux mused for a moment at ending this chase then and there, but decided against it. "I could easily take them both right now. A round or two in the gut would silence that kitten they've got with them, and reckless as he is, I doubt Eldridge has the courage to risk all these innocent bystanders fighting back. On the other hand, theres always the chance that he'll do something unexpected. He's been wanted for quite a while, theres no way he made it this long without haveing a few tricks up his sleeve. I don't know anything about this kid either. He isn't much younger than me, he looks hot headed. Judging by the way he handled that license check, I can deduce two possibilities. Either he thinks he's invincible when it comes to the guardians, or he's an idiot. Either way, if he tries to resist, it'll no doubt cause a stampede with all these civies around, especially if the fiend gets agitated. I assume Eldridge is more tricky than he lets on, if the crowd gets out of control, theres a good chance he'll be able to use it for cover to escape, and I'm not interested in getting into a shootout with the local guardians for firing into a crowd. This won't work to my advantage, the best thing I can do now is just wait." Azreaux thought to himself, playing the situation out in his head in moments. "My best bet is to get the old man alone. I'm willing to bet that even an infamous S ranked wizard will stay down if I put enough bullets into him." Azreaux waited for a few minutes outside the train station as Eldridge made his way down the street before resuming the hunt and shadowing his prey to the club. "So they old man dances, hah. He's walking into a blind corner. The only exits from that building are facing this street. If I follow him inside, he'll be hard to track, I'll just wait out here." ------------------- ![]() I would wish it all away if I thought tomorrow might take you away

Angel strolled lazily along the crowded streets of downtown.
"Its so boring doing these all day, I don't see why we need to patrol 24-7..." she muttered to herself. It was getting late and she needed something to drink. Fortunately there was a bar coming up. Tied up outside was a fiend. She entered the bar and ordered a whiskey. She payed up and gulped it in one swig. "Another." she said as she handed the barkeep the money. She glanced to her right and there sitting looked like a hunter. He smelled horribly. After a few more drinks she left the bar. On the way she caught glimpse of an old man, apparently a wizard. He looked oddly familiar. A flash of gold flashed from behind his cloak and he hastily shove it back in his cloak. "Crazy wizards. That whiskey must've been stronger than I thoght... Nice place they got here though. Nice place to get wasted at." She left the bar and continued her patrol. Eldridge exited the club and breathed a sigh of relief. He dug his finger into his ear as he ascended the stairs. "I don't think my ears will ever stop ringing." He walked past the bouncers and gave them a nod. He then glanced over at Kaiser, locked away in the kennel. The ligrun growled at him, and the wizard promptly stuck out his tongue.
The wizard then began walking away a bit more urgent than he had been earlier. His eyes shifted back and forth, as if he expected someone to be following him. He stop suddenly just outside an alley. He looked up to the sky and saw it would be twilight soon. The wizard grinned, and sprinted into the alleyway. Eldridge stopped halfway down the passage, and gazed up at the high wall that blocked off the area. An uncharacteristically sinister grin appeared on his face, as the sound of footsteps echoed in his ear. He flipped his cloak over his shoulders, and his sword shot out and floated around to his back. Without turning to greet the man tracking him he chuckled, "I figured I would be followed but to be honest, you're not who I was expecting." "Sorry to disappoint you", retorted a cold voice accompanied by the sound of cocked gun. Suddenly Eldridge burst into laughter. "Fair enough I suppose it was overly optimistic of me to assume I wouldn't run into one or two of you here." The wizard's body began glow and a small tremor began to shake beneath their feet. He balled his hands into a fist and lifted them in the air, and then two large jagged rocks ripped from the concrete and hovered beside him. He then spun around and announced with a large grin on his face, "But I do hope you knew what you were getting into when you challenged THE GREATEST WIZARD IN XENOS!!!" "Second-order wizard", the hunter muttered coolly looking very unimpressed. "Oh Whatever!" -------------------------------- "Lt. Commander Naru!" Cried a child's voice over Angelina's com-unit. He was soooo much more dedicated, and you You suck!" The young Celestial rambled. Naru bit her lip and muttered, "Sorry, sir." "Well if you can sober up enough to do your job. Then perhaps you can keep a look out for some strange activity." "Strange activity, sir?" The guardian replied with excitement, eager for a chance to prove herself. Krez cleared his throat and continued, "I'm not at liberty to disclose what it is exactly Not that your primitive mind would be able to comprehend chaos anomalies, anyways." "Chaos anomalies, sir?" Deaqon spotted the old wizard leaving the club, and decided why to investigate why he was in Freete. He waited until the wizard was out the door, and then he stood up from his seat to follow. As he reached the street, he scanned left to right, looking for the wizard. He finally spotted the wizard turning into what seemed to be an alley.
Soon, another person stepped into the alley after him. This new guy seemed to be wearing cowboy attire. "Bounty Hunter... Why would Eldridge have a bounty on his head?" He made his way through the crowded street trying to get to the alley. Gigon keeping stride easily. Though one would expect nothing less. The townspeople moved out of his way. Though Deaqon could see a gleam in some of their eyes. He knew they wanted Gigon. He finally reached the alleyway, though he hugged the wall, so as not to be seen. He dared to sneak a peek around the corner. There beside the wizard were two great chunks of rock. Behind them were two gaping holes in the wall. The cowboy was holding a gun to Eldridge. Deaqon waited to see how this played out. He didn't know whether to help the wizard, or help the cowboy. The results of each action playing through his head, as he decided which would benefit him more. ------------------- If You're Like Us. Calling All Riders. Roll Up Beside Us. "Sorry to disappoint, but there won't be one or two like me. I'm a one of a kind. Also, I don't really care whether you think you're the greatest or whatever you said; I've killed my share of wizards, you'll bleed just like anyone else. Go ahead and throw your rocks, it'll take more than a little concrete to stop my piece. So stop your bluffing and lets get serious," Azreaux said, lifting his weapon, "To be honest, I don't think you're as tough as you think, old man. You look sick..."
The silver sheen of Azreaux's gun suddenly warped and began to emanate a dim purple light. After a moment, the glow faded and the air between the gun and Eldridge distorted for an instant. Eldridge looked shocked at first, his fists dropping from the air. He bent over slightly, holding one hand over his mouth and clutching his stomach with the other. "I know a trick or two myself old man. Your arrogance makes you weak," Azreaux said, laughing slightly. Azreaux pointed his gun again, but this time pulled the trigger, firing the first of six rounds. Eldridge's eyes widened, as he watched the muzzleflash light up the dark alley. Desperately, he threw one of the shards of rock in front of him, attempting to intercept the bullet. The heavy round, however, tore through the concrete easily, only slightly deflected. It hit near its mark on Eldridge's right side. A grim smile crept across Azreaux's face as the bullet struck, but the expression quickly faded as the round deflected off of the wizard's armor. "Hm...looks like I'll have to be a little more picky about my target... Make no mistake old man, your head is mine, I've never lost a target, and I'm not about to let you get away." ------------------- ![]() I would wish it all away if I thought tomorrow might take you away

Deep within the sterile white depths of the Research and Development laboratories in Plant A-002, the entire world seemed to hold its breath as Dr. Ivy Lilienfield gently drew a syringe full of blood from her most recent fiendish test subject. Her handful of lab assistants watched nervously, eyeing the fiend's gleaming, pointed teeth so close to Dr. Lilienfield's face. When the terrifying beast gave a sudden twitch throughout his massive body, one of the assistants cried out in apprehension.
Yet Dr. Lilienfield herself seemed hardly ruffled. As gently as before, she withdrew the needle and held the syringe up to the light, filled to the brim with viscous bluish-violet blood. She whispered a few soft words to the fiend and stepped away, causing a collective sigh of relief from her assistants. The fiend itself seemed mostly unperturbed, its tiny eyes blinking slowly as Dr. Lilienfield headed back to the analysis chamber. "Make sure you don't misclassify the samples this time," she called over her shoulder to her assistants. Briskly, she pipetted a little of the blood into an old-fashioned petri dish and slid it under the high-powered microscope, tucking a strand of coppery hair behind her ear. Her movements were as smooth and sure as ever, the unwavering intensity in her expression as tangible a sign of her scientific acumen as the long white lab coat she wore. It had always been this way, the lab assistants thought. Nothing seemed to penetrate the cool efficiency that was rapidly becoming a legend around the labs. The woman seemed less afraid of the fierce, carnivorous fiends than some mothers were of their own children. Some of the more experienced assistants had seen fingers lost and limbs mutilated for the sake of a routine blood sample, but Dr. Lilienfield seemed to possess an uncanny empathy for the inhuman beasts that left no room for fear. Murmuring amongst themselves, they returned to their work stations, waiting as the data from the blood sample showed up on their monitors. Hearing their murmurs, Ivy smiled to herself as she continued entering the figures. No one had ever been able to understand, let alone duplicate, how naturally her job came to her or how much of her energy and time she poured into it. Uncomprehending, they had learned to respect her, even to defer to her, to look on her with a kind of awe. Her smile changed a little. She had felt that way toward someone once, a long time ago. For a moment, a vision of her brother's laughing eyes crossed her mind, and she bowed her head, as though in meditation, or in regret. She had never known anyone else to match him, over a decade after his death. Perhaps it was because of him that it was so easy for her to identify with the fiends. How many years had she spent in his shadow, trying to mold herself into an image that wasn't her own? How long had she too felt like a caged beast? She understood too well that the fiends didn't belong her, that the government had captured them against their wills and brought them here to be probed, quantified, studied. She understood. She shook her head. "Back to work," she muttered, seeing how many lines of analysis still remained blank. She bent over the microscope again, utterly unmindful of everything else that might be happening in the world around her. ------------------- "All the memories I have are beautiful in my mind But they don't feed the hunger deep within my soul." --Freckles

Deaqon continued to watch as the cowboy's bullet tore through one of Eldridge's rocks. It was then that he made his decision. He charged the unweary cowboy, his spear coming out in a flash. Gigon was also there, though he reached the cowboy first. The cowboy turned just in time to see the duo charging no. "What...the."
"Get the gun." Gigon leapt at the cowboy's gun and took it out of his hands. Deaqon quickly turned his spear to the opposite end and hit the cowoboy with the blunt end. "Eldridge. Are you alright?" The wizard stood there with a look of astonishment upon his face. He came out of it at the sound of Deaqon's voice. He patted where the bullet hit. Deaqon was relieved to see that it didn't go through, though it indeed was a powerful shot. "I...I believe I'm fine. Thank you." Deaqon glanced at the downed cowboy, his gun laid nearby in bits. Gigon was still growling at him. "What do you say we get out of here?" "A mighty fine idea," as he replaced the broken piece into the wall. ------------------- If You're Like Us. Calling All Riders. Miarna laughed awkwardly as he and Reign sat opposite one another, both at a loss as to what to say. He felt a strange liking towards the kid, but at the same time there was a burning resentment in the pit of his stomach. This kid was the reason his father died. But at the same time, Eldridge's abandonement ended up giving him an opportunity to finally rid Xenos of Ryvox. Once and for all.
He caught Reign giving him a studying look. He flashed a smile before leaning forward slightly. "Sorry about earlier. I didn't mean to be so rash when I said I lost my father because of you. After all, I think your loss might be slightly greater." Reign stared at him for a moment longer before shrugging nervously. "There's always a chance at revenge, though, eh?" he gave Miarna a weak smile. Miarna nodded before returning to his screens. He noticed Eldridge in a back-alley. He was facing a bounty hunter in fact, it was Azreaux, one of the most deadly bounty hunters known in Xenos. "Uh did you know Eldridge had a bounty on his head?" Miarna said over his shoulder. Reign stood up suddenly, moving beside Miarna and studying the screen. "The old man didn't say anything. Then again, he's a much better wizard then most people think he should be able to handle himself " Reign shrugged again before returning to his seat. Miarna glanced nervously at the screen again before sitting down. "I'm not so sure. That's Azreaux he's facing. The deadliest bounty hunter in Xenos, or so rumour tells it. I've heard he's never missed out on a target." "Eldridge should be fine, but maybe we should keep an eye and swoop in there and break it up if necessary. How come you didn't know about the bounty on his head anyway?" Reign asked, suddenly suspicious. Miarna merely shrugged. "Our network isn't what it used to be. The club is the main source of our wealth, and most of the profits are spent on wages and drinks. Anything that's left over isn't enough to buy the services of anyone half-decent at bounty hunting or scouting or spying. Nobody has the feel for rebellion anymore. I think it died with my father," he finished suddenly in a whisper. Reign shuffled nervously in his chair. "Maybe they'll get the feel of it again once we rid them of Ryvox." "Maybe." ------------------- Don't ever let anyone tell you you deserve that...
