"Really?" I asked excitedly. "Thats wonderful. Well in that case..." I digged into my pocket, pulled out my wallet, and hands Criss six $100 bills. "Consider that your advance pay as well as payment for your first two jobs. Don't say no or refuse, we insist." I put my wallet back as Mericole snuggles up to me. "Our job pays real good, so it's no dent in our bank accounts.

"If you think it costs more, then we can kick it up to 300 if you want." I said with a purr. "We would do anything to get time away from the kids every now and then. Well, we're going to straighten up the house now. See you two tomarrow." I said as I pushed Merric inside. "Bye now." I said as I close the door.

That night, two loud roars could be heard from the home of the leo family......

The next day.......

I'd been following the magpie for awhile. It finally led me to a cliff. I peered down over the edge. A sheer drop...was that a cave?"
"Did someone fall over the edge?"
"They'll kill me." The magpie flew down into the cave. I thought I heard a muffled 'help.'
I climbed down slowly. Climbing wasn't a ferret's forte, but I managed it well enough, slipping into the cave.
"Hello? Is anybody in here?" I called, venturing in.
"You!"
My eyes adjusted. I could see him now. His leg was torn up, his wing injured...
"What happened to you?" I checked his injury. "It's still mostly in place...look, this is going to hurt."
I realigned the bone. He winced, but said nothing. It seemed to be a clean break, but I was no doctor. I had broken my own leg before, though...
"Why are you helping me?"
"Because you need help." I shrugged. There were bite marks around the wound. "Someone had it out for you, didn't they?" I looked at his wing. Not broken, but too damaged for flight. "Who did this?"
"The wife of the man who started killing my family."
"Your family?" I looked deeper into the cave. He gestured to the magpie who had led me here. "Oh..."
"I'm going to die here, aren't I?" He muttered. "I will starve...yet close to the sky."

Corvin
Why was she helping me? Her kind usually raided nests for eggs and young. Why help me?
"Not if I can help it. I assume you're hungry?"
I nodded. I wouldn't require as much food grounded, but she didn't look like a predator.
"Look, I'm going to try and get you fixed." She put a hand on my head. I flinched away. Everyone who tried to get me to trust them tried to kill me.
"You will try to kill me, too. They all do."
"I don't like killing. Messy business." She said. "Trust me?"
I didn't have a choice. I was dead either way.
"I suppose."
"Good! Now, first things first, I'll need a way to get back to you easily..."
She went back over to the cliff, looking thoughtfully at it. "Could get some rope..."
Perhaps I had hope after all.
"Take care of the nestlings?" I asked the magpie who'd come with her.
He flew off. My flock would continue for another generation.
And perhaps, so would I.

(OOC: With this, my posts here will become infrequent until six months have passed in the RP.)

"Hmmmm? Wha?" I grumbled half asleep as I walked down the stairs. My mane is a huge mess, I'm in nothing but my underwear, and they're the kind with moth holes all over, the elastic is worn out and with the faded stripe design. I rub my eyes and let out a big yawn. "To early.....go way..." I slam the door in Criss's face, then head back up stairs, passing mericole who was coming down. She was almost as horrid looking as me, but she had a robe on. "Person...door. Me....bed....Sleep....." I muttered to her as I headed to the bed room.

I sigh, then smile as I watch merric head back to bed. "Lazier then a snake basking a hot rock, under the warm sun, on a cold day, that husband of mine." I tease my hair as I walk to the door, trying to look at least a little decent. "Good enough...." I open the door to see Criss outside, holding his nose. Apparently, Merric had slammed the door not in his face, but on it. "Oh hi Criss. Sorry bout Merric. He's reeeeeaaaally NOT a morning person. Anyway, what can I do ya for?" Criss told me bout the school nearby with the teacher who teachers our kind. "Is that right? Well, that's wonderful. When can we sign them up?"

"Then I'm kinda hoping that they misbehave a little." I said with a laugh. "That way I won't have to give them their baths. You think keeping kids in a tub is hard. Try having them hold still while you give them a tounge bath! And it tastes absolutlely horrid! We end up coughing up at least 5 hairballs before we bathe OURSELVES!" Criss and me laugh at that. "I'm kidding of course....to a extent.....But yeah, if you could do that for us, that would be great. We'll sign them up later, when Merric finally gets his butt up and has his caffine. Now is that it? Or would you like to come in for a bite or drink?"
