The virus re-writes the person's genes, giving them special powers. Everyone infected with the virus had a different talent, and they had different ways to initiate these talents. For example, one might have to yell out a key word, jump three times, then they would start flying. Each person had a completely different power, but everyone infected had two things in common. Their powers were all incredibly powerful. Instead of in books and movies, where they had telekinesis and could only lift things smaller than a king size bed, they had the ability to lift houses and planes. The second thing the had in common, was that they only live to the age of 21.
The virus got passed down from generation to generation, and now it is 2012. approximately 23% of people on Earth are infected by the virus, but 1% of people are aware that they have the virus and know how to use their power. The government are aware of the infection, but they aren't doing anything about it. As far as we know.
This role play is going to be set in the fictional city of Haleyton, very closely resembling New York City. You are going to be a victim of the virus, thus giving you extreme power. Are you going to use it for malicious purposes, or fight crime, maybe? Your choice.
Yes, I know this is very unrealistic, but apart from the fact you have super powers, I'm trying to make this realistic as possible. So you can't go around killing people willy nilly. Your character is going to have a conscious, and if the kill someone it will haunt them. And if you do kill someone, the police will try to catch you. They won't stop trying to find you after five minutes.
Now for the fun part, RULES
1.At least five lines each post.
2.I know having the weakest character in this whole roleplay is like god-modding, but no going and destroying the whole city. That is a no-no. You can blow up a small building, but nothing too drastic. I will decide what is god modding. If you do, I'll ask you to delete your post, and I'll tell everyone participating that everything in your post never happened.
3.Don't interact with anyone elses character in any way without their approval.
4.Only one talent, and you MUST specify how to initiate the talent, eg. one might have to yell out a key word, jump three times, then they would start flying.

Name: Andrew Farley
Appearence: Andrew is quite an attractive guy, with short dark brown hair, normally spiked up a bit with gel. He wears glasses with rectangle lenses. He is a little bit shorter than the typical 17 year old. Andrew isn't a big built person, but he certainly isn't skinny. He normally wears a plain white t-shirt with red skinny jeans.
Talent/power: He can blow up anything he wants. All he has to do is point at the thing he wants to blow up, and say 'boom'.
History: Andrew was born in the town the virus was first found, but he later moved with his family to Haleyton. He found his talent when he was 12, looking out the window and he put his hand in the gun position, pointing at a plane and saying 'boom'. The plane blew up, and ended up crashing down the street from his house. The plane slid down the street, and plowed straight into his three storied house, completely destroying it. As far as he knew, he was the only survivor. He then ran away and was living on the streets for the rest of his life.
Name: Elsavor Drai
Talent/power: Once human flesh and blood has past his lips, he's overcome with extreme agility, effortlessly fast reflexes and heightened senses, much like the mythological Wendigos of Native America. For these "powers" to stay, however, he must dine on human at least once every second week.
History: Born on February 23rd 1993 as an unplanned child, Elsavor always felt lesser than his siblings. His parents are extremely religious and follow their Church with vehement faith, so it was more than predictable when his mother revealed she chose to go through with her final pregnancy because she felt the Lord meant for it to happen. This took great affect on Elsavor throughout his early years, although he was never teased or taunted by anyone but himself.
At age six, his father began to smuggle 24 packs of (rather shitty) beer home from his job at the local Supermarket. Elsavor, knowing that alcohol is something forbade by both his mother and pastor, threatened to tell his mother how his father had sinned. In apathetic response, his father tossed a beer to him and patted the cushion on the couch next to him - a clear invitation to join. Surprised and feeling genuinely giddy as his father hardly ever acknowledged the broken-condom baby, Elsavor dropped his previous threat, pulled himself up on the couch and cracked the beer. This is a (if not the) major cause behind his current alcoholism.
At age eight, his father was caught stealing from the Supermarket's stock and was, consequently, fired. His mother was enraged, often sitting her four children down to lecture her children on "divorce" and how ungodly their father is, reminding them not to end up like the "vile he is". However, she refused to go out and get a job herself, and because they lived in a relatively small town where word spread quick, his father was having a difficult time finding another job. Elsavor and his already-thin brothers and sister quickly became emaciated. Embarrassed, his mother bundled them in thick clothing to give them the appearance of normal-sized children. Their neighbors, classmates and teachers never suspected a thing. By the end of the year, their savings had run dry and his older brother was forced to get two jobs to support the starving family.
At age thirteen, his father surprised his family with the announcement of a camping trip - something Elsavor had pleaded and longed for since he was a toddler. Because it was late fall, they took a week to prepare; picking the perfect three-days, gathering the tools necessary to "live off the land" ("If we're going to camp, we're going to do it like my brother once taught me. We eat only what we catch and find, we sleep only in the shelters we make, we cook only with the tools we design. Three days isn't that bad, it'll be fun!").
However, five days into their three-day trip, Elsavor began to suspect that they were lost. He was proven correct a week later, when his mother finally admitted to the family that their father couldn't find the way out and that they would have to stay put until rescue came.
In the first week of spring, now fourteen-year-old Elsavor returned to the small town of Trnava. Alone, well-fed. Surprisingly aware of his surroundings, oriented, jumpy, well past any state of shock he may have experienced. After careful examination by doctors, he was moved across town to live with his aunt, Ambroz Drai. Whom he still lives with today.
Other: He kills and ingests only those he thinks deserve the treatment - sinners. Lived in Slovakia with his aunt, but recently moved to Haleyton.
Name: Kerri Rocha (care-ee rock-uh)
Personality: Quiet, Thoughtful, Smart, Slow to Trust, Semi-Shy
Talent/Power: Kerri can possess any animal. She does this by clapping once, looking at the animal, and saying its name. Her body then dissolves and she enters that animal. i.e., she claps, looks at a mouse, and says "Mouse". She then turns into the mouse that she was looking at. To turn back, she simply imagines herself as a human again.
History: Kerri never thought she was anything special. She was constantly the background character, an extra. Other kids took her spotlight, and she let them. She has an older sister and an older brother, and both of them overshadow her completely. Her parents are aware of her presence and try to talk to her, but she prefers to be alone. However, she does have friends.. They're just all animals. And they can't talk to her.
When Kerri was seven, she was outside in the forest, and a deer was in front of her. Excited to have an animal this close to her, she clapped her hands and said, "Deer!" She instantly turned into the deer, which startled her quite a bit. For a week, she stayed as the deer, because she didn't know how to turn back into a human. Finally, she decided to imagine her old life and how it used to be. While doing that, she imagined herself as a human, and she turned back. She was overjoyed, and she quickly ran home. When she returned, she expected her parents to hug her and be happy. She paused outside of the door, thinking of how to explain her wonderful new power. But, unfortunately, Kerri overheard her father say, "Yes, she's gone, no worries." She instantly assumed that "she" meant Kerri, and her heart almost stopped. Fighting back tears, Kerri ran away from home and lived in an abandoned shack for five years, until she was twelve. Then, a policeman found her and took pity on her. Kerri currently lives with Officer Sam (35 years), who allows her to stay in his house. When Kerri turned thirteen, she asked Sam where her siblings and parents were. He told her that her parents died on a cruise to Alaska (wherever that is), and her siblings were staying with her Auntie Rebecca. Although Sam offered to take Kerri to see her siblings, she politely refused. He has never questioned how she lived for five years in the woods, nor has he questioned why she enjoys the forest so much. Sam isn't exactly like a father to Kerri... More like a very close friend. She hasn't told him about her power, which she has now mastered. Now, Kerri can even turn into humans. However, she only did this once. Kerri had turned into a guy named Fred, who left the town shortly thereafter. Kerri hasn't attempted to transform into a human since then.
Other: Kerri's favorite colors are red and blue. She prefers not to transform into a human if she can help it. She does not attend any school, but prefers to spend her time outdoors. Her favorite animal to turn into is a bird, specifically a bluejay. She spends her days in the forest and her nights at Sam's house. She rarely sees Sam during the day, but neither of them mind. It's just easier that way.
