Log in to remove this sponsored message Based off of "Avatar: the Last Airbender", and the sequel to Avatar: The Sands Betrayal Take anything OOC related to the Avatar: Memories of Bloodthirst OOC experience thread We all started the same, us members of the avatar group...We all started as kids wishing, wishing for adventure, for purpose, for lives worth living and remembering. Thinking back at those days, it was quite foolish wishing, but our wishes were granted in the end. Its been ten years since we've started, and only eight years since the end of the war with the Sand. Even thought it was a very short time period for a war, only two years, the days that passed during the war, and being with the heart of the problem and solution, made those two years become an eternity. The world lives in peace, and has for the last eight years, and everyone, including the Sand, wishes for this peace to continue forth, from now until the end of time. However, anyone with the right sense of direction can feel an ominous wind approaching Today is a special day, if you didn't know. Today, a dark art, once used in practice for the most skilled benders, is now becoming practiced again. As you might assume, this dark art, also known as "Human Bending" was banned, and people thought it was gone forever. Your assumptions would be correct, this dark art was banned, and never practiced again, or so many thought. In secret, this dark art was kept alive through the generations, and today, the dark and black memories of a bloodthirsty king are awakened, or perhaps revived is a better term for this situation, to conquer and rule the world. This is where you begin, whether you be one of the many hidden, in the most secret of shadows in our world today, conjuring up the dark arts, giving your loyalty to the Bloodthirsty king, or a good hearted citizen or bender, living your average life until the dark threat emerges, and doing what you can to help the cause. The choice is yours. Rules:

He has medium length brown hair that he often pushes up so that he can see better without hair in his vision, covering over his dark brown eyes that seem so full of hopes and dreams, but also an eternal sadness that rests within, either due to the many losses he has suffered in his time, including the very loss of himself, or just because he is very mysterious like that. Ian wears a long white robe, which sleeves are much too long for his arms and cover over his hands if his arms are at his sides and all the way down. Under these robes are a small white undershirt and good length white pants, which is only usually seen when he is in battle, as fighting with the long robes is quite annoying for him. He holds his airbending staff on his back most of the time, but when he feels like switching it up from time to time, he will wear it like a sword in its scabbard. He doesn't wear footwear very often, as he is mostly flying or using the air to levitate him slightly off the ground, but when he does, he wears sandals. Bio/Background: Ian fought alongside the avatar in the two year war against the Sand. He started out in the northern air temple as a normal air bender, but had always desired to travel with and teach the avatar the skills of airbending. On the first day the name and face of the avatar was revealed, Ian was already along side the young water born avatar, and off on thei quest to help stop the war. During the war, at a crucial battle at the Fire Nation capital, Ian was stabbed in the heart by his brother Ethan, and died shortly after. Many days after his death, using the powers of the monks at the Aang temple, deep within the forbidden realm, filled with rouge benders, exiled because of their destructive and exceptionally evil minds, Nami and the group travelling with her, and Ethan, revived Ian, and the group stayed at the temple for a few days while Ian got used to being back in his body, and went back into the war, except this time they went to the Sand Nation directly, to confront the Sand at the source of the threat. After a failiure at that, the group travels around the world for a few months finishing Nami's training in the different elements, and then struck the sand one last time. Ian and Ethan succesfully double-teamed the evil dictaor of the sand, and eventually killed him at the cost of Ethan's life in the process. For the eight years following the end of the war, Ian returned to the Northern Air Temple and finished his own air bending training, and becomming a very well respected, and high ranked air nomad. With the new freedom he received by this new rank, and his respect, he made it a neverending task to go and visit each of the nations once a month, usually to see old friends, and even some of the new friends he made on his travels, such as a small farmer boy outside the earth capital named Rez. But most importantly, he always made it so that he visited Nami, one of the few extremley important people in his life that are still alive. Personality: Ian is still fairly laid back, however through the years he has grown a certain maturity about him, which makes him more serious from time to time. He is still that little 18 yearold boy yearning for adventure on the inside though. Anything Else: Ian owns a sky bison named Jaster, a very trusted companion of Ian's, and the travelling arrangments for the avatar group during the sand war. She stayed with the group til the end of the war. She made friends, as well as found love, but after the war, she returned to her island. Her cousin Aeleta and Aeleta's younger brother came as well, bringing some friends and family. She has faintly curled, dark brown hair that tumbles down to mid-back and curls in pretty ringlets around her face. Her hair is normally left down, but a bit of it is tied up in order to hold a few various ornaments in her hair. When she is travelling or keeping her firebending skills in check, Shanti wears a tunic in the traditional fire nation color of dark red. During this time she prefers to wear small, flat sandals and a belt around her waist to keep certain items such as weapons with her. When Shanti is representing her country, because of her newfound status, she has a different sort of appearance. She wears a pale green, sleeveless shirt that fits her form perfectly. It is held up through the use of a number of bead chains, that attach to the top of the shirt with a small jewel. She became determined to use her fire bending skills, being a natural, to become a great master and use that to get money for her family as a payment. Never in her wildest dreams did she think that somehow or another she would be recruited to the Avatar’s group during the war, and travel throughout the world. She made new friends, cured her fear of using lightning, and did her part to protect the Avatar, help her a bit with learning fire bending, and gave assistance in ending the war. After it was all over, she returned to the fire nation and went to the capital, in hopes of continuing to improve her fire bending. News spread rapidly however, that she was talented in her bending abilities, and it wasn’t before long that the king of her nation brought her before him and offered her a position as the new ambassador for the nation, as the old one was planning on retiring. He thought that she was talented and therefore recruited her. Shanti accepted the position with joy and with help from the old ambassador, she learned everything from politics and negotiating, to bending, manners, and customs. She has become fairly well known among other politicians. Personality: Over the years Shanti matured considerably. She is no longer confused about her emotions, she understands each and every once. However, after learning that when in meetings or talking with other people, emotions can give one away, she chose to hide them. Because of her constant straight-faced attitude, she often forgets to shed her poker face when around friends or people she trusts, and ends up sometimes giving people the “cold shoulder.” When she does remember, she has a fairly kind and caring personality. Overall, she is also very observant and has learned to be aware of her surroundings and calculate the situation before diving in. Bio/Background: Felix grew up in the care of a Fire-bending family during the Sand-wars from the age of 5. However, he knew of how his parents had died and rejected the culture and ways of the Fire-nation, and rebelled by focusing all his energies on learning everything about air-bending. He also showed fascination to hand-to-hand combat and the martial arts, learning swordsmanship on the side. At the age of 19, he goes by the title of Wind-rider, a moniker from his school friends and resides in the southern region of the Fire Nation, working as a combat trainer. Personality: Felix is hard-pressed to hide his emotions. He can be very arrogant and brash at times, happy-go-lucky at other times and they sometimes even mesh, especially in battle situations. However, he's never careless and can become serious in a flash, dispatching enemies with flair, arrogance and a little bit of style. He learned Earth Bending from another slave. His tutor was a rather old man, rare for slaves, who seemed to know a few people in the system. The two escaped one day, several trusted friends guiding them. However, an ambush was prepared. They all sacrificed their lives so he could escape, though with a price. Current Non main characters/Non Playing Characters(NPC's) Name: Rez Age: 17 Gender: Male Bending skill: none Appearance: Rez is fairly short for a seventeen year old, standing at an even 5 feet tall. Rez has short cut dirty blonde hair, but lets his bangs grow out to spill over his forehead in a messy fashion, almost reaching his green eyes. His nose is narrow and kind of pointy, while his lips are small, so he talks in a quiet manner because of this. Rex's wardrobe consists of green tops, varying from a regular shirt to long sleeved shirts, and brown shorts, no matter the weather, he will still wear shorts, cause he likes them. He also wears boots wherever he goes. Appearance(Image): none. Bio/Background: Rez grew up in a small town in the earth nation, around the earth capital. He was raised on a farm, working on it since he was 5, although as he began to get older he saw how the fun life of being a farmer was overwhelmed by the fun life of being an adventurer. He tried running away once, to just get out into the world and become his own person, when he was only 13, but soon realised the hardships of being alone in such a vast wrold, and returned home after only a day, and suffering the concequences of shrugging off work for a whole day by doing double the work every day since that day. Although Rez saw this as cruel and unusual punishment, it made him very strong willed, and strong physically, even though he has height problems. One day, when he was 15, he accidentally threw a pile of manure at someone when he was shoveling and trying to make the work fun by trying to see how far he could throw it over his shoulder, and got into a fight with the angry person who didn't like manure on him, and was about to get beaten up and severly wounded, when the fight was halted immidiatley when the man saw a powerful air bender approaching, and didn't want to get into too much trouble. Rex thanked the air bender and asked for his name, to which the air bender only chuckled and kept walking. But for a few days each month, Rex would see this air bender, and eventually when he was sixteen he got a name out of him. "My name is Ian." he would tell Rez, and then continue on his way. Now 17, and his farm failing, his father tells him that they have to sell the farm and go live in the capital, and that Rez will be able to be the adventurer he has wanted to be for a long time, and go out into the world on his own. His first goal is to find Ian, and perhaps find his way along in the world with Ian as a guide. Personality: Rez is fairly childish, and a follower. He has been raised up listening to his fathers orders, and one day he is just shoved out into the real world with no sense of direction. He is also very afraid of many things, even though he has the ability to defend himself against normal humans, and normal threats. He also is a quiet talker, and because of this, he is often taken advantaged over. Anything Else: He isn't skilled at much anything, and combat especially. However, he knows his way around animals and wild vegitation, so his strengths lie in his knowledge of the vast world around him. Name: The Blood Thirsty King, Aiden Grouse Age: Early 40's when he died, even though its been an unrecorded ammount of time since his death. Gender: Male Bending skill: Human Bending Appearance: This 'King', back in the days of his life, was at an average height, and wore pure black robes with a hood that covered his face in shadows, so no one could really tell what he looked like, facially atleast. Some believe that when he did his human bending, his eyes would glow red, and others believe that his eyes were truly red. In order to use his bending, he would use his hands and arms in various motions, showing off his very pale hands and arms. Bio/Background: When Human bending was finally considered a real form of bending, among the four basic elements, This man was one of the first to start spreading it, and its message across the land, and because of this fast work, he quickly raised up in the ranks of the human bending cult. Once he was high enough in the ranks, he assassinated the first king of the cult, and took his place by showing the power he had infront of a large ammount of cult followers. He showed his power by showing them the first kings soul, and eating it, something no other human bender could succesfully do while keeping their sanity, although its not entirely fair since this king wasn't entirely sane in the first place. A full year passed since this event, and the cult became more dangerous through this year, taking innocent peoples lives like never before, and using more gruesome ways to send their message across the land. A council of top leaders from the four nations decided that this art be banned, and every cultist be removed from this world, instead of just placing them in the forbidden realm. They were too strong to be contained by such a place. Fire benders raided the main encampment of the king and his most loyal followers. Only three human benders escaped the land now known as 'The Land of Black Flames', for when the king and everyone else burned, the fire burning their bodies was a dark black, and the king raised a curse into the air. 'Human Bending shall never die, for it is the art of reviving and controlling. We shall revive ourselves.' Personality: Evil, insane, and paranoid. Anything Else: This king is an Albino. Also, because of the skill level in human bending that is used to revive him from the dead, parts of his body hadn't fully recovered, and so some of the places on his body are still all bones, or rotting flesh, giving him an air of death around him. Name: Nami Shokkou Age: 26 Gender: Female Bending skill: She started with water, and now is a master in all four elements. Appearance: Nami stands at 5 feet and 7 inches tall. She has wavy, red hair that flows down to the middle ofher back, although she sometimes has it put into a pony tail. The most common sight of this is when she is in battle, it has to be tied up or she wont be focused on the battle as much as she should. Many people ask her why she has red hair if she is a water bender, and she always responds saying that he red hair is like the sea of blood, not a real sea, but areference to the war she participated in ten years ago. Dark pools of blue flood her eyes. She also wears traditional northern water tribe clothing, and for special events, she has elegant dresses made from all over the world. Bio/Background: Nami, when born, took the test to become the next avatar, and passed. During the peace and Aang stil being alive, the monks of the northern water tribe felt that it was unnessesary to teach her water bending when the other children did. Due to a sudden surprise of Aang and Zuko diing, Nami was forced into her water bending training a few years late, and her identidy of being the avatar still unknown to her. With the crisis of the Sand Benders still going on, the monks decided to tell her on her 16th birthday that she was the avatar, shoving her into a paniced state, leaving her with no option but to run away from the water tribe, eventually getting lost, and took refuge in a nearby air temple. There she met Ian, an annoying air bender at first, but then a loyal friend. If it wasn't for Ian, Nami would have died many times on their travels, especially the time before their travels even started when the air temple was raided. Along the way of learning the different elements, Nami met all sorts of people, water benders from various parts, fire benders, earth benders, an air bender from another air temple, and even her child hood friend form the northern water tribe. Each of these people helped her acheive her goal, and help end the war. Since the end of the war, she made her way to the avatar temples in each of the four nations, finishing the training she hastely completed with her friends, and becomming a full fledged avatar. She usually spends her time these days in her homeland, but often travels for no other reason than to see the world, muchlike her ambition when she was only 16. Personality: Nami is still quite the tom-boy as she was when she was younger, although not as much. as she grew older she matured and became a very well mannered woman. Ian and some others will still describe her as annoying, though. Anything Else: N/A Name: Aeleta Longmeadow Age: 30 Gender: Female Bending skill: Firebending Appearance: Aeleta has light chesnut hair, hanging above her shoulders. It used to be longer, but recently she went back to this short length. It's layered and the top layers flip around her face in a flattering manner. Her eyes are of a ruby chesnut color, browning with a sharp red tinge. Her skin is lightly tanned, partially from being descended of tanned skinned family and partially from her long hours outside training. Her body is thick and well muscled, though she has the appearance of bing quite thin. She's around 5'7" and wears a long skirt, of traditional fire nation red, with a matching top. Her shirt's sleeves are rolld up most of the time, but can extend to below her elbow. She will wear dark brown hiking boots around her village, but when travelling off her home island, she'll trade them for some brown flats. Appearance(Image): Clickedty Bio/Background: Aeleta lived on a water bending island most of her life. But eventually life got to hard to live there, so her parents moved. The only one who stayed behind was her dead uncle's daughter. The only water bender there. They moved to the fire nation, her father's homeland. It was eventually found out that Aeleta and her little cousin were the only benders in her entire family; A water bender and a fire bender. A link tied them together, a single whistle from their grandfather. That being, her little cousin had the whistle. Karalyn, her cousin, at the time had no idea how to use/control it's powers, so Aeleta set off to find her. Once she did, the two figured out how to control the whistle together. Aeleta was not familiar with the avatar's group, which her cousin was a part of, but did befriend them out of courtesy. She prefered to stick close with her cousin and younger brother. The three of them eventually went back to their home island along with other people, to rebuild it. It's where she now resides with Karalyn, Joelin, and her own surviving family; her only daughter. Personality: Very outgoing and active. She loves to show off her power. She's also a big smart mouth. Anything Else: Aeleta helps Karalyn with manging the Benders Whistle, an heirloom from their grandfather. It bears no great signifgance, but it's part of a natural ballance. When the time comes, Aeleta will help Karalyn teach the new generation to weild it's power. Aeleta married an old friend at the end of the war. He recently died a few years back from present date, leaving Aeleta with their 4 year old daughter. Edit: Aug 01, 10 -------------------

For all OOC purposes, use the link at the top of the first post.
Dark clouds fill the sky as another pule ripples through the world, or is it the first pulse? A feeling of Deja vu nonetheless. Ian looks around for something to grasp hold of with his vision, but there is nothing, only darkness. The dark sky begins to break, revealling red light shining down upon him, revealling himself to be in a field of graves, stacks of bones, and the air breaking at its non-existant seems with unclaimed souls roaming as if they are free, but we all know they are trapped and doomed to an eternity. Two figures approach Ian, and even though he wouldn't move anyways, he knows he cannot. This scenario is no different than the moments of his death when he was seventeen: the feeling of being unable to move, even though he didn't want to move in the first place. The two figures, still hidden in shadow, stopped ten feet away from Ian, and began to speak. He knew they were speaking, the light from above could reveal the movements of their faces, even though their faces were still shrouded in darkness. No sound escaped their lips, but one sound did escape his own. "Heh," Ian began with a cold, sarcastic laugh, "Even in death, you still inspire me to-- Ian quickly sat up in his bed as a loud noise had woken him up. It was the sound of somethign crashing against his wall. Ian looked to the window to the right of his bed and saw the head of a small boy peek through, apologizing for not being able to catch the ball that he and some other air bending children were playing with. Ian, without saying a word, accepted the apology with a nod and waiting until the kid has left the window to start getting dressed. First he put on his sleeveless white shirt, next came his white pants, and then he slipped the white robes on gracefully, for these were very expensive, and he wanted them in good condition for as long as possible. And even so, today was a special day, today was the day he would go visit Nami at the northern water tribe. It was always a polite gesture to dress your best when greeting the avatar. At this thought, Ian chuckled at the fact that not too long ago had they been fighting side by side, the hoopeful and cheery air bender and the annoying avatar, all in mangled clothing and dirty from all the sand in the air. suddenly, a knock on the door woke Ian from his daydreams, and called out to the person that it was ok to come in, just as he slipped on his sandals. "Ian, Jaster is all prepped up for the travels. Are you sure you dont need any of us to come with you?" "Heh, you ask me this every month, and my answer does not change. I can handle myself, and just voyaging with me to meet the avatar is silly. If you want to meet her, go there on your own and say 'Hi'. She's a nice lady, she wont bite...well, unless you piss her off, but that may just be me!" Ian and the air nomad shared a laugh at this joke, and then the air nomad made his way back to his duties, while Ian followed him out, shut the door behind him, and then headed down to the landing area, where Jaster, Ian's flying bison, was waiting for him. As Ian was walking down the steps to the landing area, he sensed a strange feeling of danger, turned ariound immidiatley, and held his palm out infront of him, sending out a short burst of air to blow back the ball that was flying toward him. The kid running after the ball got hit in the stomach and flew to the ground. Ian noticed that it was the same kid from before, and instead of apologising, shouted out to him, "Sorry, I couldn't catch the ball!" Ian laughed to himself as he made his way down to Jaster, gave him a piece of fruit and patted him on the head, and whispered something in his ear. "Ian, when do you think you'll be returning?" The same gaurd from before asked as Ian hopped up onto Jasters neck and grabbed the reigns. "I don't know. I might stop by Ba Sing Se and see how things are going over there after seeing Nami. Ba Sing Se just seems like to be the place to be right now, you know? Well, even if you dont, it doesn't matter. A few days is the best estimate I can give you, would that be alright?" "A few days...Hmm, yes, that should be fine. but once you are done with Ba Sing Se, please return here with the utmost of haste." "Hehe, we'll see! Take care of the place while I'm gone, no getting into trouble!" and with those last few words, Jaster jumped into the air and zoomed toward the northern water tribe. It wouldn't take long to get there from the northern air temple, which pleased Ian, because he was eager to talk to Nami about this strange feeling he was having, and about the dreams he has been having for the past few days. -------------------

Dawn, a beautiful thing in the Water tribes, as the sun gleamed off the ice and created an aura borealis under the frozen water. Everyone was still asleep, though not for much longer.
The largest igloo, the one where their leader sleep, a woman sat up with a gasp. Tears streamed down her cheeks and they didn't stop for a while. After what felt like an hour, though only five minutes, her tears ceased. She lifted her head from her knees and her blue eyes seemed to shine. Pieces of her long brown hair were stuck to her face, while the rest ran freely down her back. The woman sat up and changed into her clothes for the day. She decided on a long blue dress, which drug on the floor behind her. Because it was so cold though, she put on a simple shirt and a pair of baggy blue pants for an under layer, though you couldn't tell. The woman then ran a brush though her long hair and tied it back into a braid. When she was satisfied with her appearance she dawned her blue cloak, with seal-lion fur around the neck, and walked outside. She took a deep breath and began to walk with a purpose towards an igloo. "Ah! Dalara, back again? What's wrong now?" An elderly lady said. She was bending over a pot of something that smelled wonderful, though by now Dalara knew it wasn't soup. It was a oil that the talented woman could read if you dipped your hands in it. Dalara smiled and spoke softly, "I need your advice." The woman nodded and Dalara perched herself on a handmade wooden chair. "What advice do you seek?" The older woman said in a very mystifying voice, the one she used to scare children who knocked over her pot. People called her a witch but Dalara called her a Goddess in human form. Kyrilla had a tendency to know what you needed to do. She was also Dalara secret teacher. She had taught her how to Bloodbend. "I need you to tell my why I keep having that dream." Kyrilla smiled and, unlike ever morning Dalara came to see her, she said something that made the Water Bender want to scream from joy. "Now it is time. Hold out your hands." Dalara reluctantly pulled her hand from the warmth of her cloak and held them out. Kyrilla ducked her and into the pot and dotted a pit of oil one each of Dalara's fingers and one small dot on her forehead. She then said, "Allowed this woman to relive her dream, but be able to understand it." She jerked her wrist and oil rose from the pot. "Now breathe in the smoke," Kyrilla ordered. As Dalara trusted the old woman she did as she was told. Soon Dalara was asleep in the chair and Kyrilla went to make herself some breakfast, leaving her leader alone. Dalara opened her eyes at the end of a long passage. She blinked a few times and light shined on her. The moon was full and she was stronger then normal on nights like this. Dalara smiled as she felt power course though her veins. Bells chimed in the distance and a voice called out to her. She turned seeing her mother. She gasped. The once beautiful woman was far from it now. Her neck was bleeding and there were chains around her wrists and ankles. Her hair had been baldy messed up and cut badly. It was also very matted. Matted with dried blood. Her clothes were tattered and her face looked slightly smashed. She saw hands come for her mothers bleeding throat. Dalara was lifted off her feet by her neck. No matter how hard she tried she couldn't suck in air. Her lungs soon burned for the wonder air. That's when Dalara realized something important. That's not my mother.... She mused as she died. It's.... Me. Dalara sat up in her chair and stood up. She ran out Kyrilla's door without a glance back. She ran nearly all the way back to her house and pulled a silver whistle hanging near her bed. She blew hard, though no sound came out. Soon a Fire Nation Halk came into view. Dalara's pet landed on her outstretched arm, shaking his feathers in a prideful way. Dalara handed him a cracker while she wrote a letter. Dear Ian (and Nami if you're there) I hope you are well and I do wish to talk with you. I will not say much here, as this could be intercepted, though my hawk would die before letting me down. I want to let you know that something is wrong. I have been having the same nightmare for weeks. Since the last full moon. I wanted to talk to you about it. If you want me to come to you I can do that. Hope to see you soon. Your Friend, Dalara Ps. Nami please tell me you've been practicing? If not I'll know! Dalara smiled at her private joke then stuck the letter in the carrying case on her animal's back. As she walked outside she let her bird fly. She stood in the snow and watched her hawk until it turned into a red speck in the light of the rising sun. ------------------- ![]()

“You continuously doubt my ability to protect myself. Along with that, the Fire Nation has been at peace with the Earth Nation for many-a-year, I doubt that today, of all days, that peace will be broken.” “But miss, you never know!” “The Fire Lord himself summoned me and requested that I go to Ba Sing Se. I am not in position, nor would I want, to question his orders. Along with that, the two of us are currently more than half way to the shores of the Earth Kingdom.” The ambassador of the Fire Nation turned her cool and controlled gaze towards the woman who was fretting over the ribbons on her skirt and sleeves. The woman was biting her lip, looking very fearful as she stitched together a bit of her higher authority’s skirt that had been torn, most likely during training. Shanti, the ambassador, shook her head with a small sigh and turned her gaze to the mirror in front of her. She pursed her lips together, looking at her face with a slight distaste. Somehow or another the seamstress who was helping her now, had become an expert in the field of applying make-up, and applied all sorts of things on her face, claiming that it made her look prettier. Shanti’s opinion to all this was that it made her look like she was a fake, or that she was trying too hard. But she knew better than to argue; she was the representative of her entire nation, she couldn’t afford to argue with anyone. “Alright, all finished miss. I’ll be on the upper deck if you need me.” “Am I ever not careful?” Was Shanti’s dry reply as she watched the woman leave her room through the mirror. “Thank you though…” Her dark blue orbs flecked with amber and olive took one last look at her dainty face, covered in make-up, before dropping down to the small table. She opened the drawer and pulled out a small cloth, dipping it into the warm water that had been prepared to wash her face with earlier. She quickly removed all of the substance on her face at the same time as making sure that her seamstress wouldn’t randomly bounce back in saying she forgot something. To put it simply: Shanti had never liked make-up, and probably never will. She didn’t mind wearing the dresses and the fancy outfits, or the high heeled shoes that made her thing she was going to break her ankles, but she did mind the make-up. A knock sounded on her door. The female firebender dropped the cloth back where it came from, shutting the drawer, and then turning towards the entrance of her ship cabin. The door opened to reveal none other than the captain, who bowed lowly at the sight of her. Shanti rose to her feet, dipping her head in greeting. “Captain,” She said formally, motioning for him to take a seat in one of the neatly spread out chairs. “To what do I owe this pleasure?” The captain, a jolly sort of man, sat himself comfortably in the chair with the most cushions. His gray beard was neatly trimmed and his dark brown eyes glittered with the sort of warmth a grandfather would have when doting upon his grandchild. Shanti couldn’t help but smile, very faintly. She and the captain had a particularly fond, family like relationship. Mainly because he was the only captain that Shanti trusted, since the last one she had was imprisoned for stealing some of her items. “I’ve come to tell ya that we’re rapidly approachin’ a storm, an’ unless ya wan’ to slow down an’ take a long detour, we’ll have to go straight through it.” He informed her, his thick accent making what would normally be very polite from him, seem informal. Shanti mused the thought over. A storm wouldn’t be that bad, she thought, considering that she did have a deadline to meet. The meeting was scheduled for the next morning, and she really didn’t want to disappoint the Fire Lord. Not that she ever had, but it would be nice to keep her record spotless. She looked at the captain and nodded her head briefly. “Whichever will get me to the Earth Kingdom’s shores the quickest, captain. I will leave the decision making to you; do keep in mind that the meeting I have is tomorrow, though.” The captain informed her that they would go through the storm. It wasn’t a terribly horrible one from what he saw, and the boat they were on was a very sturdy lady who had gotten them through thick and thin. He dismissed himself and returned to his quarters above. She could hear the tromping of feet above her and the shouts from different crew members as they rushed to make preparations for their course, which, no surprise, was straight through the storm. For some reason, Shanti got an off feeling. He said the storm wasn’t that bad, so why go through so much preparation for it all? But then again, Shanti knew very little about boats in general. She knew very few terms, despite having traveled on ships for the past ten years of her life very, very often. It was, from what she was told, the best means of travel. But, Shanti disagreed. The best way to travel, she had found, was by air bison. She let a small, wistful smile slip past her defenses. Ten years since the war, and so much had changed. Not only had she grown up, but she had lost contact with most of her old comrades from back when she was part of the avatar’s little group. It was a shame, it truly was, she thought to herself. It was mainly her fault; it wasn’t that she had forgotten. No, it was more that she had very little time to herself. Even in the evenings, a lot of the time as soon as she went back to her hotel room, or her chambers if she was lucky, she would read over a few papers and then go to bed. That was the problem with being involved with politics – there was so much to do in so little time, it made it hard for her to do anything else. But luckily for her, in the past few years the Fire Lord had been generous enough to grant her more free time. For this, she was extremely grateful. It actually gave her a chance to have a social life again, with people other than political figures such as kings, tribe leaders, bending masters, and others of that sort of rank. The young ambassador snapped out of her nostalgic thoughts when she heard a loud thump on the door. “Come in!” She called. The door slammed open and a the ship’s chef smiled widely at her, presenting her with breakfast. Shanti looked at it quizzically, having forgotten that she hadn’t eaten at all yet, and then cracked a small smile. With a quick thank you, and a bow from the cook, he was dismissed leaving the dark haired girl alone with her food. She blinked a few times in succession, before picking up her fork and proceeding to take a bite, when she realized that the chef had chosen to make the variety of organic treats form into that of a smile. She chuckled to herself; that was so typical. -------------------

"Ah, if it isn't sir Ian, 'tis always a pleasure!" A somewhat elderly woman called out as Jaster landed a few feet away from her. She never mentioned her name to Ian, but they had known eachother for a few years. She and her family built their home near where Ian always landed Jaster each month, and even now Ian can remember the arguments that insued for the first year of them knowing eachother. Ian always refusing to move as this was Jaster's favorite spot, and obviously the woman always refused to move her home and family for obvious reasons. However, they soon got over their differences, and the womans children found it fun to help take care of and play with Jaster while Ian was in the tribe. Ian also thought Jaster liked this too, and so he felt better knowing that Jaster was in good hands. He nodded to the woman in acknowledgment, and then began the trek from the womans house to the building where Nami always was found, although Ian wasn't really sure if she lived there, or thats where she did most of her work.
"Well, well! You must be in some hurry if you can't even say hello! alright then, We'll be here when you get back!" the lady called out, and Ian smirked, but didn't turn around to say hello in a joking manner. As Ian began to get close to the building, he was stopped by a gaurd who Ian didn't seem to know. either the man was a new gaurd, or something had happened and security had to be heightened. "Halt! what is your name, sir?" "Ian gale, of the northern air temple, and yours would be?" "Oh, so you are Ian? Please come with me, Nami has been expecting your arrival for some time now." Ian gave a small laugh, but the gaurd kept his serious composure and lead the way to the room Nami was, finding her to be playing with some water, doing all sorts of things with it, although she had immidiatley stopped playing when Ian entered. "Thank you, Arron, you can leave now, if anyone can be trusted, it is this man." "Yes, ofcourse." The gaurd said, quietly exiting the room, leaving the two powerful benders standing in silence, just staring at eachother, almost having a convorsation with their eyes. "So you have been troubled too, Nami?" "Not nearly as troubled as you, but yes...I can feel it. However, these bad feelings are quite faint, so i would think whatever bad things that are to happen, wont be happening for some time. So I say, for now, we don't worry about it, agreed? So, is today just as the other days in the months, catching up and having nice chats, or perhaps something new?" "Oh, right, with the spur of the moment, forgot to mention, we're going to Ba Sing Se today." "Hmm...? Why?" "Don't know, you should know, though, shouldn't you? The feeling of just wanting to go somewhere, for no reason at all except to just get out there? C'mon, it'll be just like old times, us two travelling on Jaster, feeling free and--" "All of the 'old times' you are talking about are us as kids in a war, why are you acting so happy?" Nami said in a cold voice, obviously saddened by the memries of the war. "What makes me happy is being able to think that doing stuff like we used to in the old times, without a war holding us back! Think of all the cool places we could have gone to if there wasn't a war. And the war wasn't all bad, was it? We met because of that war, remember?" "Yes...Yes...I know. But I can't just up and leave, I have responsibilities!" "Hmm? Responsibilities? Ones that you could have taken care of while waiting for me instead of playing with water? Don't play this game, Nami, lets just go! Tell whoever you need to tell that we are going to Ba Sing Se for a few days, and will be back as soon as possible." Nami gave a heavy sigh at this, but then shook her head in disbelief. "I can't believe Im going along with all this...Where would we even go in Ba sing Se?" "We could go see how Kolby is doing, and you never know if any of the other members of our old group might be there, thinking the same thing as me. Ba Sing Se is just the place to be right now." Nami and Ian shared a small laugh, and then took their seperate paths. Nami went on her way to the council to tell of how they would be leaving for Ba Sing Se, and would be returning in a few days, explaining how she was going to speak with Kolby, the leader of the earth kingdom, and to refresh her abilities in earth bending. Ian however went back to get Jaster, and pick Nami up right outside the building. Many of the gaurd shouted and hollared at him, but as soon as Nami hopped aboard Jaster, they had taken off toward Ba Sing Se, laughing at how much fun they were having, since it had been ten years since they had this much fun. although, after a while of laughing, Ian suddenly stopped and questioned Nami at what they were laughing at, which only caused them to laugh some more. "We should be at Ba Sing Se by nightfall if we go as fast as we can, Jaster! Nami, did the council send a messenger bird to Ba sing Se ahead of us to alert him of our arrival?" "Yes, I believe so, but I dont really want to talk right now, lets just enjoy these moments, ok?" Ian nodded and whipped the reigns, Jaster suddenly picking up the speed and Ian grinnind widely as he remembered the days of his youth, how he always wanted to go fast, to the edge of the world, and never turn back. -------------------

Kolby stood on the outer wall of Ba Sing Se overlooking the land in front of him. He stood calmly and put his hand to his chin as he watched nature taking it's course. A flock of birds flew over him making their way back into the city where their nesting place was. He felt himself shake when the train rushed quickly by. He had hoped it was the sound of an Air Bison grumbling.
"Is there anything wrong sir?" Kolby jumped at the sound of the voice, but realized it was only Thom, his assistant. "Thom, you almost scared me to death," Kolby exclaimed. "And no nothing is wrong, just feeling the need to see some old friends that is all." "I deeply apologize, sir," Thom had said with a monotone. "Now why is it that you must follow me around nearly everywhere I go?" he questioned. "Well it is my job, sir." "Well I think you need a break, take off for the rest of the day Thom. You deserve a much needed rest." "Thank you, sir." He said with happiness in his eyes. Thom clinged to the side of the wall that would take him in the city, and using his bending, slid down safely. Thom had been a servant of the family before Kolby was born. He had always been at their side every day and was loyal. He had even helped teach Kolby some earthbending when Kolby was learning how to use his abilities. Thom and his family had lived in the lower ring of Ba Sing Se for some time, but when Kolby took power he had moved them to the upper ring and increased Thom's pay, as Kolby didn't need to use currency often. He had a wife and two children, who were born around the time Kolby was released from imprisonment. Though Kolby mostly associated Thom with his work, he had also became a close friend. I think I should head back to the palace as well. Kolby thought to himself. He headed to the direction of his private train car. It was decorated to the fullest extent. The floor was red carpet, with a green rug over it. Dark green drapes hung from the windows accompanied with gold tassels, and awaiting him at the back of the car was a soft, light green plush chair made just for him. Kolby sat down and the train began to move. Kolby closed his eyes and began to sleep when he suddenly heard a screech. He opened his eyes just as a messenger hawk flew through the window, perching itself on the arm of his chair. He took the note and the bird flew off leaving him a present on the chair. Kolby sighed to himself and figured someone would clean it up. He opened the letter and smiled widely. Ian and Nami were coming to visit him. He hadn't been this happy in months. For a moment Kolby pondered the strange dreams, or nightmares they seemed more as, for a minute. He then laid his head back and folded his arms, avoiding the bird excrement, and went back to sleep with a smile. ------------------- I never conquered, rarely came

"Nooooooooo, swing down!" Felix was letting the kids under his charge have a day to just practise freely. For the most part, the kids were just bickering with each other, criticizing each other or ambushing each other when one of them wasn't paying attention, but, in a nutshell, they were all just active.
Felix stepped away from the commotion to sit on the sidelines and drink some water, to wait until the kids were done. However, one of his good friends sat down next to him, a girl named Mira, who usually took the kids. She stretched out her broken leg in front of her and relaxed it, just an occupational hazard as a combat instructor for the kids. One of the reasons Felix had requested a higher class. "Thanks for looking after them for me today, Fell, I don't think I could've handled them." Felix turned to look at her and nodded his acknowledgment, still guzzling water from his canteen. He stopped and licked his lips, feeling the relief as his thirst vanished, replaced by his usual brash self. He felt like he needed a challenge, but, looking around the room, he realised it would be unfair to take on beginners and decided instead to just walk around and correct stances, wrong movements, everything that was required of him really. Some ten minutes later, the lesson was over and the kids left, which left Felix to just take a walk around the grounds. The training centre was amazingly lavish, a classic Fire Nation manor that was bought off by eight people who needed lodging, one of them being a hand-to-hand martial arts champion. He passed on his knowledge to select students who took over the building when all of it's occupants died. They were the official founders of the centre, which has no recorded name. Felix took a look at the spires high above his head and the flower beds at his feet, wondering how two things equally beautiful and majestic could be so different. Dropping the thought, he decided to work in the gym for a couple of hours, just to get his head into his job. He'd been disturbed a lot by constant bickering between his foster parents over his sister's future. She wanted to become a performer, their dad wanted her to pursue Fire-Bending and become a soldier, their mother wanted her to become a scholar. It seemed that the decision fell to Felix after some time, when everyone started asking for his opinion. He had to get out of that zone before taking advanced, or he'd get killed by his own students. He smiled, knowing that he had trained them perfectly, given them everything they needed to know, knowing that he might get beaten for his position by them very soon. However, his plans were interrupted by a stout, plump little man who strode towards him purposefully, making Felix stop, expecting some sort of lecture from the head of the centre. "Felix, you've been called to the Elder's Temple. It seems there are problems. All of the Advance class teachers are going, I suggest you get ready immediately." "Ahh damn, what on earth now? "There are rogue benders who are holding the elder hostage for some information that we don't think he has. Look, don't ask about the principle of the thing, just stop them." "Sure, sure." Felix mounted one of the centre's horses and rode off to the Elder's Temple, which was only about 10 minutes away, to deal with another situation. It seemed that he was being called more and more to help those he hated and he wasn't liking it. He made a commitment to see if he could leave the Fire nation to explore abroad, expand his horizons. He would start in the morning though, there was a life in danger right now. He was needed. He sighed audibly as the temple loomed into his line of vision.

“Promise me you won’t take off your beautiful outfit, Miss Shanti!” Shanti stared at her seamstress with the blankest of stares. “You want me to keep this garb on, so that everyone in the world can know that I’m the ambassador, traveling on a normal ferry service? That’s madness, I don’t want people to be afraid of me or anything. You remember what happened the last time.” The woman thought about that and frowned. It hadn’t been that pleasant of an experience for either of them. She nodded thoughtfully and held up her finger, signaling that she would return in a minute, and rushed out to go find something. Shanti wanted patiently for the time to pass, turning her back towards the stairs that led downward and leaning over the edge of the boat railing. Now that the storm had passed, it was a beautiful mid-morning that was too good not to spend outside. She hummed in delight, what gorgeous weather – perfect for travelling, if she did say so herself. “Here you are!” The woman returned with a smile, setting a tanned cloak in Shanti’s hands. She looked at it quizzically, before understanding what it was for and twirling it around her so that she could snap the two ends of the cloak together with a small brooch. She pulled the hood up over her head, testing it, and then looked at her acquaintance with the faintest of smirks. “Well, how do I look?” She asked, using her nimble fingers to ensure that the cloak stay closed. That way, no one could see the exquisite garments underneath the cloth. At the most, the only thing one could view was the rich, red color skirt end that poked out from underneath. Shanti gazed at her seamstress, who nodded in approval. “It looks lovely miss, suits you perfectly. Shall we send a messenger hawk to the Earth Kingdom, to say that you will be arriving one day earlier than scheduled?” “Perhaps it would not be too bad of an idea. But first, I think we should reply to the hawk that has landed on the railing.” Shanti replied. True to her word, a large and well trained messenger bird had flapped it’s great wings and settled on the top rail of the ship, gazing at the two women with a cool, majestic demeanor. Tied to it’s back was a sheath for a scroll. Shanti strode forward and held her arm out for the bird, who rose gracefully into the air and swooped down towards it’s new landing spot. The ambassador stroked the bird on it’s head gently, before pulling the scroll from the bird’s back and unrolling it with her free arm. “I don’t think we have to, they moved the meeting to this evening. The plan is to have a ‘relaxed’ dinner over the matters, so we can actually have a laugh.” Shanti raised a fine brow. “Whether that will happen or not is beyond me, but I will write back to confirm that I will be there by this afternoon; after all, that is common courtesy, is it not?” “Would you like me to write the letter for you? We’re rapidly approaching the port, you can se-” The seamstress was quickly cut off by the Captain, who shouted in his loud, booming voice; “LAND HO!” Shanti grimaced as her delicate ears were nearly blasted off by his shouting. She looked up towards him, giving him the look that plainly asked if what he did really was necessary. Of course, she knew that it was, it was just his “thing,” as he put it in fine, plain terms. “It would be better if I write it. It will only take me a few moments, but I’ll need you to send it off to the Earth Kingdom’s Capital without me, else I would miss the ferry to Ba Sing Se. Can I trust you with that much?” Shanti asked, although she already knew she could. The woman nodded and hurried off to go find some more scroll paper and ink. Fifteen minutes later the message had been written, sent, and Shanti was getting off the Fire Nation ship. She turned to catch the captain’s eye and give a small, parting wave before scurrying off and blending into the crowd of people. Luckily for her, the ferry wasn’t too full, it was decent. There were people spread everywhere, relaxing and chatting. She could only imagine what it was like a century or so ago, when the Fire Nation was attacking and trying to take over the world. The ferry must have been extremely full, and filled with earth bending refugees of all sorts. She sighed; sometimes the past really did catch up with oneself. A few maidens dressed in fine costume boarded the ferry; Shanti recognized them as the Kyoshi warriors. Even after all those years, they still kept their traditions and wandered through the boats to make sure of no oncoming threat. One of them approached the young ambassador. Shanti gently pulled up her cape sleeve, revealing her ambassador’s ring, with the seal of the Fire Lord on the front. The woman smiled and bowed her head. Shanti returned the gesture with her own, graceful dip. “Enjoy your trip, Ambassador. I hope all goes smoothly.” The warrior said in her cool voice, smooth like a rushing flow of water. The firebender smiled in return. “Thank you.” She replied, in her own, almost dry and emotionless voice. As the woman turned to go to some other passengers, a strange wind blew in through the open, windowless upper deck. Shanti shivered, but she noticed she was the only who did so. In fact, it looked like she was the only one who felt it. Her fine lips tilted into a small frown. There was an ominous wind blowing about; chances were, it meant something. Shanti attempted to brush the thought off, not wanting to deal with anything wrong happening before her meeting. But, though part of her doubted it, inside she knew, that trouble was brewing. The only question was: where? And how bad would it be? -------------------

The Sister Malta "Breathe in...... Breathe out......" I thought to myself as my boat hit land. It was always a joy to be at sea, but these passenger boats were horrible. Especially to a sixteen year old girl. While I awaited to leave the ship, I stood there thinking. Soon it would be my birthday.... mine and Shiloh's. I miss her dearly... It's only about ten minutes til Ba Sing Sei, not that long. And Shiloh and Father should already be there. I chuckled to myself as the excitement continued to envelope me. My pack rest on my slight back, firmly shut as I walked away from the dock. It was a simple walk that wouldn't take me that long. Once I was in the city, it would only be a matter of heading to Tia Mowry's house. The rest of my family would already be there. I stopped thinking as I continued my walk. - -- - It was near night time by the time I made it to the city. The sun was setting and my friend the moon would be coming out. I was admitted through the gate and made my way through the winding streets. A group of small children were playing in the twilight. They took notice of me passing and called out. "Hey! Are you a water bender?" and older girl shouted. I nodded in consent. "Do you know Avatar Nami?!?!" a few of the younger ones asked. They ran up to me and seemingly danced around my ankles. "I do live in the Northern Water Tribe, same as her. And She works with my mother quite often. I've met her a few times, but am not on a personal basis with her. Sorry, but I must be on my before it gets to dark. Good Bye children!" I said, sprinting away. I was almost to Tia Mowry's house. A letter from my mother to my Father and Sister in my Pocket. I had already memorized it. quote The Sister Shiloh I inhaled slowly, preparing to strike. I extended my arms out, straight in front of me, then whirled them around behind me, exhaling my breath. As my arms had made a complete circle around and over, Flames shot out and struck the soldier in front of me. I quickly cartwheeled away, avoiding his return fire. I ran up quickly to him from the behind and stuck his back with my palm. His back arched, then I swept my leg around to trip him. He lay on his back panting, myself standing above him, hands prepared to shoot fire. "SHILOH! Enough!" a deep voice called from the other end of the arena. I went from serious and hard, to skippy and carefree. I turned and literally skipped off to the edge where the voice had come from. A looming man with dark black hair motioned me with his index finger. I stepped up to him as we embraced. "Hi Daddy," I smiled with excitement as we released our hold. It was nearing my birthday, which meant that He and I would be traveling to Ba Sing Sei for a little bit, do meet up with my mother and sister. "I cannot believe that you and your sister are nearly seventeen," he sighed. His age showing in the whitening roots of his hair. I slid into a comfortable stance and just beamed up at him. "I can't wait to leave! I miss Malta and Mother so much. I can just think of all the things we'll do once last time as a family. Considering that once I'm seventeen I can officially take the test," I said, mentioning my eagerness to become one of the elite family guard. Once that happened, I would not be able to meet with my family, considering all my responsibilities. "Yes, I'm positive you'll make it into the guard. How can you not? Even the Fire Lord recognises your ability," my father said, his expression turning down, "But Shiloh.... I can't go with you to meet your mother and sister.... The Fire Lord has been tightening security. We've been receiving threats from some rogue benders and such... I'm not at liberty to go right now.." My face turned to stone. As a matter of fact, so did my entire body. I felt dead of emotion and hurt. I nodded curtly to my father and spoke coldly. "I'll go finish packing up, then I'll head off to the dock, to catch my boat," I said. I turned away, before he could speak and started walking back to my quarters. As I made it back to my room, I noticed a scroll upon my dressing table. I read it through and understood. It was a note that I was to take to my mother and sister. As I finished packing my belongings, I read the note over and over again in my head. quoteI finished packing as my father came into my room. "I'm sorry, Shiloh....." he started. I cut him off as I gave him a strong hug with my small body. He understood. He handed me, my ticket and passport and stuff that I needed for the journey. We embraced one last time, then I left. I made my way to the coastline to find my ship. -------------------

"Ian, we'll have the stop soon, there's a bird following us." Nami cooly said, knowing that Ian already knew of the bird following them, but not knowing why he hadn't stopped when he first noticed it. "Do you plan on stopping?"
"Soon." "Why not now?" "We need to find a lake first, so that Jaster can get a drink. That bird will just have to catch up to--Oh, lucky day, a lake. Jaster, dive!" And with this commend, Jaster turned from a horizontal flying bidon into a large beast falling head first into the lake below, Nami, wide-eyed with fear and thinking about jumping off Jaster and using her bending to save her, but knowing that Ian wouldn't let anything bad happen to her. She closed her eyes for a moment or so, and not sensing anythign new, she opened her eyes to see the empty space that was once occupied by Ian. Frantically, Nami looked up to see Ian, as he apparently jumped off a moment ago, waving at her. Nami jumped too and used firebending to zoom up to him and slap him. "You scared the crap out of me! Jerk! And to think I told my advisors that you were the one person I can trust, and you almost kill me!!!" However, after her screaming, Ian was mouthing some words, but she couldn't hear what he was saying until they began to slow down. "I yelled for you to jump when I did, but I guess you didn't hear me, sorry! No need to get physical, Nami! Jeez, we can act like kids again but the constant getting hit I can go without." "...Fine. So we let Jaster get his drink, and we see to this letter, and then we're back to Ba Sing Se?" Nami said after letting out a heavy sigh. "Sounds like a plan. You go do whatever you have to do, I'll go answer the message." Ian walked over to where the bird was about to land, and held his arm out to catch the very tired bird. He took out the letter and read over it carefully. After reading the letter, he wrote his reply on the back of the same parchment, and stuck it back into the birds messenger pouch, and watched as the bird flew away. quote quote Ian's replyPleased with his letter, he decided to receit the whole message, both his and Dalara's, to Nami, who was coincendentally practicing her water bending while waiting for Ian to finish. Nami laughed at this, but Ian already had his laugh earlier, drank a bit of water from the lake, and then made his way back over to Jaster. Once an hopped on, they took off without the screaming Nami, but all Ian shouted back was for Nami to practice her bending like Dalara said, and slightly laughing. But his laughter stopped when Nami shortly caught up and even hopped into the saddle on Jaster. Because of this, Ian was left mumbling; cheater.... Nami and Ian, after arriving in Ba Sing Se, stared up into the night sky, clear and full of ever glowing stars. Soon enough, their eyes were taken away from such a beautiful scene by the ramblings of a gaurd, who was ever too welcome to greet the avatar, although Ian didn't like how he wasn't as famous as he was when Nami was with him. The gaurd lead the two from the area in which they landed to the palace, pointing to a door and saying that Kolby was having an important dinner there, and they they should just go in and join. The gaurd also said that, knowing Kolby's relationshis with the two, that Kolby wouldn't mind the sudden arrival, and that infact, Kolby was in a much better mood ever since he got Nami's advisor's letter. Ian and Nami quickly went to the door, and Nami tried to open it slowly, but Ian pushed her aside a bit and opened the door fairly quickly, resulting in a large bang from the door hitting the other side of the wall. Ian and Nami, in their embarrasment, quickly went to the two seats that were reserved for them, and an akward silence insued, however Ian was always willing to break these moments. "Well, sorry for the sudden disturbance, please, carry on with whatever you were discussing." Ian's gaze went to everyone else in the room, trying to match their eyes with his, catching Kolby's eyes which showed his amusement in the situation, while some of the other people at the table had some fear in their eyes, but slowly went away once they realized that it was Nami, the avatar, who was sitting in the room with them. However, one person's eyes were filled with almost nothing. And yet, it was the kind of nothign thatwas also confused, like, it was searching for something, like a lost memory, or even a...lost face. At this moment, Ian remembered those eyes,a set of pure heartedness to which he hadn't seen in 10 years. Ian stood up and went over to her, standing near her while she remained seated. "Hey, what's up?" -------------------

"Ni, Jungi, do it like this."
Dalara moved her arm and the ice obediently moved for her. She loved the special feeling bending gave her, it made her feel like she was worth more. She stepped forward moving her arms in a hula dance motion. The water flicked into a wave onto the training dummy. Dalara twisted her wrist and breathed out slowly and the water turned to ice, freezing the dummy. The smaller children gasped in awe, while the older ones didn't seemed moved. "Now," Dalara said loudly, with a sly smile. "Who can unfreeze the dummy? Anyone?" A tall boy raised his arm and Dalara stepped back to give the boy a shot. It didn't go to well. The boy had nearly unfrozen the dummy, though his hands twitched during a very crucial part. The boy had begun frustrated and threw his arms down. The ice cracked, throwing everyone, except Dalara, to the hard ground. Dalara melted the ice she had encased her feet in and made sure everyone was alright. She let the others practice while she took the boy to the side. "Name?" She asked. "I-I-I" The boy stammered. He didn't try to hide the fact that he was terrified. "Don't stammer! Just tell me!" The boy blushed and muttered, "Heli" She smiled at him and said, "I'd like you to really make sure you practice, a novice wouldn't have that problem. You must control your anger, it could have been worse. Be careful, alright?" The boy nodded and Dalara sent him back with the others to practice the drills she had just taught them. Water bending teacher and the leader of the tribe. No wonder I'm so tired, She thought. All this work and I hardly get sleep. Life sucks. Suddenly a large red bird appeared. She smiled, her hawk was back with Ian's reply. She realized the bird must be very tired so she left the children in with her assistant and went home. She fed the bird and placed a dish of water on the table. Then she pulled the letter from it's sheath. Dear Dalara, Do not worry about your nightmares. Me and Nami also sense this bad feeling in the world, but we shouldn't worry about it until bad things actually start happening. Since, with only feelings, there isn't much we can do. It would be best not to talk about it at the moment either, for it would be bad to start a panic. As for you meeting with us, we are heading to Ba Sing Se, so if you can arrive sometime tomorrow we can meet up and talk over some things, or just do regular stuff. With this note I'll have included a few gold pieces, for the ticket from the southern water tribe to the mainland. However, you will have to provide your own money for travel from the mainland to Ba sing Se. Good luck with all of that, and hopefully we'll see you soon. From, Ian. "Ba Sing Se!" WHen she thought of the place all that she could think about was the sand benders attack on it ten years ago. She hadn't been there in ten years. She smiled at the gold pieces as she held them in her hand. I thought Ian knew me better then that... *** About an hour later, after making sure everything that she needed to do was taken care of, she set off for Ba Sing Se. She'd be at the main land by night fall. Well she'd better be, considering she didn't want to sleep on a piece of ice floating in the ocean. ------------------- ![]()

But, she did so anyway. She took a deep breath and strode forward, letting the cloak's hood slip down and reveal her gorgeous, dark locks that curled in gentle ringlets around her face and back. She gently brushed them over her shoulders, so that the curls weren't in her way. She paused right by the entrance to the city, where a lone guard dressed in imperial robes stood, as if expecting someone. He caught her eye, and recognition flickered behind his emerald orbs. She raised a fine brow and he silently beckoned for her to join him. She knew that he was to take her to her inn room, one of the finest in the city. A small memory zipped through her mind. It was the same one that Fire Nation royalty had stayed in, years ago. She shrugged that aside. Many times had she stayed in that lovely place, the staff knew her. The guard said nothing but handed her a scroll, sealed with the stamps from many of the earth kingdom generals. She quizzically opened the paper and skimmed through it with interest. She mused over the words. They were apologizing for the sudden change in plans, but it appeared they would be having special guests that evening and needed to accommodate for them. Shanti sighed; that meant there would be more people at the meeting. She figured it would be rather awkward, considering she most likely didn’t know them. Hopefully they would at least contribute to the discussion at least, instead of sit there and say nothing the entire time. “Thank you; do you perhaps know the time and place the meeting is to be held?” Shanti asked, her voice nothing more but a bland string of words, yet there was a subtle touch of softness as an underlying tone. The guard nodded slowly. “Two imperial guards will be there to escort you to the palace and the dining hall at sundown. Is this acceptable?” Shanti nodded in confirmation. The guard let a very, very small smile slip past him before he proceeded to lead her into the city towards the room she would be staying in for the time being. It didn’t take long for the two of them to reach the large building. Especially considering that the guard knew the city like the back of his hand, and was easily able to take the quickest and most concealed roads there. He bowed lowly and held the door open for the young ambassador, who’s mouth twitched into a small smile as a thank you. He then proceeded to return to the palace, whereas Shanti herself was ushered in by the staff and led to her room. It was a neat one, a pretty one in fact. Flowered, shimmering maroon curtains that had sort of a see – through effect to them. The bed was large and had an extremely soft mattress that seemed to accommodate her slender shape. The pillows were made from the finest material, along with the sheets and the covers to the bed. A fine lamp was in the corner of the room, along with a desk and a mirror. And of course, leading from the room, was another smaller washroom. Shanti sighed and unclasped her cloak, letting it drop to the floor for a moment before retrieving it and hanging it up. She gently brushed off her robes before looking outside. The sun was already setting. She had enough time to read through a few papers, send a letter to the Fire Lord to let him know that she was in Ba Sing Se and the meeting was moved up, a letter to her ship’s crew, just to ease their worried minds, and then go. And all in all that was actually quite a bit to do. Shanti’s lips twisted into a small frown. She’d better get started then. ㊋ ㊋ ㊋ About an hour later, with the sun now almost completely set, Shanti was ushered into a large room filled with earth kingdom generals, and most likely an ambassador from each nation. Along with that, she spotted the Earth King. The strode gracefully to where her seat was and stood slightly in front of the chair, so that when everyone arrived, she would be able to seat herself automatically. It was proper behavior, according to the man who taught her. After a quick thanks for joining them, everyone sat down and a small meal course was served. Shanti quickly noted that she was literally, one of the only women at the table. If not, the only. She suppressed a sigh; that was so typical. She gently balanced her fork between her fingers and daintily picked up some of the salad that was placed in a bowl before her, taking a bite and chewing as she listened to the matter that one of the war generals was addressing. “As you all know, one of the passages to get into the Earth Kingdom is through Serpent’s Pass. But, most do not travel there as the large sea serpent that resides there does not hesitate to attack boats that attempt to pass through.” He paused, letting the words sink in. “Though we have tried to stop the sea serpent many times, the creature is extremely strong and intelligent; so, with the Kyoshi Warriors protecting the villagers, we left the matter be for a while. However, recently, we have received disturbing reports that something has been aggravating the serpent more than it normally is, which has been leading to it directly attacking the village itself.” Shanti raised a brow. A creature of such did seem mythical, but she had heard and seen images of the serpent itself, so she did not doubt it’s existence. What did unnerve her was the fact that it was actually going after the innocent people that were in the village – from what stories told her, it never did that. Only if it’s waters were disturbed, did it attack. “Is there any particular reason, for the serpent to be acting of rather strange accord?” Shanti asked, breaking the pause there. Just the pained looks on the others’ faces meant that they had no clue. She refrained from rolling her eyes, remembering what she had learned. Keep your cool demeanor, reveal no emotion. They could be used against you. “Well then, what do you need from the Fire Nation, if this is mainly an Earth Nation matter? Considering that the trades are made through Full Moon Bay.” “The Earth Nation would like to ask for support in fighting this beast and investigating the cause of it’s reckless and dangerous behavior. If somehow the beast is calmed and it allows boats to pass through, then the trade with the Fire Nation would be made considerably easier and quicker.” Another man replied. Shanti regarded him quietly. Even if it was quicker, his words were not entirely true, it would not be easier. Trying to convince sailors to go through Serpent’s Pass, even if the creature was calm, would be a difficult thing. Especially since no one actually had a way of knowing if the serpent would attack or not. Her lips set into a thin line. “And if the beast is not calmed, how does the Fire Nation benefit from this? Lives and weapons would be lost, which does not seem like a very benefiting after effect.” Shanti said grimly. There was no response for a few moments, when someone actually made a move to speak, but was quickly interrupted by the doors opening to reveal two new arrivals. Shanti didn’t exactly recognize them, but she could tell by their garb that they were from water and air nations. Seeing as there was now an awkward tension in the air, the man who looked at least from the air nation asked for them to continue. Shanti’s stormy orbs turned back towards the general who looked as if he was fearing someone. Her gaze flickered back, and it was at that moment she recognize the face of the woman. Or at least, it seemed like she did. Nami, the avatar, unless she was severely mistaken. Not likely, however. Her look turned blank as she tried to recognize the person who was next to Nami. He seemed… so familiar, in a way. But she just could not place him. That was changed, however, when he appeared to recognize her and walked up to her. She looked up at him quizzically, as he said “Hey, what’s up?” … How informal, she noted, but she rose from her seat nonetheless to depict polite behavior. At the same moment, most of the others rose as well. “Thank you for gracing us with your presence, Avatar Nami, and Sir Ian.” A man said in his deep voice, with his thick accent. The light snapped on in Shanti’s head. She did know this person! “Rather informal, in front of all these people, no?” She smiled faintly. “But, nonetheless, a pleasure to see you again, Ian. And you as well, Nami.” She dipped her head in the direction of the red haired avatar. Then she turned her attention back to Ian and murmured; “Just to fill you in… we were speaking of the serpent in Serpent’s Pass. It appears it’s been attacking the village, very unnatural for the creature. The Earth Nation requested aid from the Fire Nation, and we paused there.” -------------------

Stretching my arms skyward, I yawned in the afternoon sunshine. A swift breeze flitted through the trees as I awaited on the edge of the forest, the shoreline in veiw. It was my turn, as well as my wishes, to take the daily feeding to a long forgotton creature. At least, it was forgotton to everyone but those on my island. The Komodo Tigers came as usual to their normal feeding time. They began to lick up the mini mountain of fish.
I kept my distance, as these creatures were unused to human occupancey. In my absence, the old komodo tiger that and airbending friend 'killed off', had found a female and duplicated. There were a total of five when I and my two cousins returned. I smirked as I remembered the times during my absence. My expression turned somber as I walked away from the beasts and towards the water. I began wading in the water, my ever present sword skimming the surface. I couldn't help but miss my old friends. It had been many years, but I still thought of those times. I smiled to myself, before heading past the K. T.'s towards my home in the village. Who knows, maybe I'll see them soon. You never know who;ll turn up on Flame and Liquid Island. -------------------

"...Informal? Oh...right, sorry. Seeing you...sent me back in time, almost. And ok, thats a good thing to discuss about." Ian said with a small laugh, heading back to his seat, but instead of going to sit down, he went over to Kolby and shook his hand. "Ian, its always a pleasure to see you, and nice entrance by the way. Each of these people sitting with us today are the different ambassadors for the different nations, including two of which you may know. Shanti, the ambassador to the fire nation," after Kolby had stated this, Ian released a quick laugh, as it both shocked and amused him, but then nodded to let Kolby finish, "And the ambassador of the air temples, Oswald." "Ah, Oswald, good to meet you. And no, I don't know him personally, but we have the mutual feeling of knowing eachother, I'm sure. So please, carry on with your discussions, everyone, and I'll just enjoy the free meal." Some laughter murmured from some of the other people at the table, while Kolby laughed openly and loudly, sitting down and then turning to Shanti, to continue discussion stuff about the benefits for the fire nation if the beast was not taken care of, but after Ian finished his dinner and the discussion was going on, he asked politley for everyone to stop talking for a minute and let him say what he had to say. "Why put many lives in danger, to take down a beast, that might result in many lives lost, and much money either wasted or poorly spent? I say, that I will go and handle this problem with the Serpent's pass myself. surely you cannot object to my offer, seeing as it will save money, countless lives, and based on my battle experience of the pass, such an offer is a blessing. Ofcourse, if anyone is offering to help me out, I will accept any help. Nami, would you care to help me?" "Even if I say no, I'll be taken along anyways, wont I?" Nami sighed, but then looked up at a bright Ian, nodded with that sly smile of his. "Ian," Oswald began, "how do you plan to control the beast, or take care of the situation?" "Hmm...Well, I would first try to figure out whats causing the beast to act strangely, and then, depending on the cause, act accordingly to the situation. And, if necessary, the beast shall be killed." After saying these words, the room fell into a silence, although some people were whispering to eachother about whatever they were whispering about, and then the group continued discussing other matters of importance to the different nations and such. After a few hours, the meeting was finally over, and everyone had left, save Ian, Nami, Kolby, and Shanti. Ian told Nami to find a good hotel to sleep at, and to not worry about him as he would be sleeping with Jaster for the night, walked over to Kolby as they shook hands again and bid farewell, although Ian would most likely be coming back to the palace tomorrow to talk about receiving any help for the serpents pass, and then walked over to Shanti to try and restart the greeting that was so 'informal' as she put it. "Perhaps we can try this again..." Ian began, looking down, but then into her eyes, "How would you like to go out for some tea, and perhaps catch up a little? I know a great place just outside of the palace." -------------------

"Shove off!"
"Mommy! The old guy is scary!" "Get off my purse!" Dalara laid her head on the rail of the ferry. She hated ship travel, it made her feel sick. She was glad that nobody was staring at her, like they would when she walked by at home. She felt something tug on her pants. She raised her head and looked down at a little boy. He was dark skinned with short black hair. He wore what looked like a diaper and had a bit of snot running down his face. Dalara smiled and cradled the boy in her arms. He didn't seem to mind. She scanned the crowd on the ferry and saw a woman jumping up and down, as if looking for something. Dalara calmly made her way to the lady and said, "Your child?" She burst into tears and took the toddler from Dalara. The woman gave her thanks and walked off. Dalara smiled and walked back to the railing and resumed her earlier position. When the ferry landed she was one of the first off. She was tempted to scream 'land' loudly but being a dignified leader she couldn't. Though she did it in her head to make herself feel better. She saw another ferry to Ba Sing Se but decided against it. She didn't want to use the money she had taken for that. It was six gold pieces, a total outrage. She stalked away, thinking. The whistle for the ferry blew and she watched it. She saw on the notice board that she would have to wait two days for the next crossing. Her eyes grew as she swore, running into the water. She froze the ocean and hopped onto the small ice road. She skated along the ferry as it began a slow decent out on the ocean. She saw the boy and his mother from before staying at her, as well as some others. Let the staring began, she thought. Dalara jumped into the next large wave and found herself on the deck of the ferry. People started clapping, clearly thinking this was all planned out. She smiled and acted like it was. When they had all gone, she went over to the side and watched as the ferry made slow progress towards her destination. In the middle of the night Dalara stepped off the ferry. She was one of the few who were awake and her and two others made their way to the great walls of Ba Sing Se. The other two people seemed to scared to speak up when they made it to the bottom of the walls so Dalara spoke for them. "Anyone there?" She yelled. An earth bender poked his head over the wall. "Gonna let us up?" She yelled, wondering if he could hear her. She waited for a bit and then she did something she wouldn't normally have done. She grabbed her bird, which was sitting on her shoulder, and roughly pulled his tail. He screeched and flew off in a huff. It did the trick though and the noise of the earth cracking hit the ears of the three travelers. The bender apologized as they sailed up the walls and Dalara smiled. Now where would she go to find Ian... "Stables," she said simply, knowing Ian would be with Jaster. Even after all these years the air bender was so predictable. She would go look for him in the morning but until then she would have to find a good hotel. She managed to find a pretty good hotel in the upper ring of the town. It had taken some arguing before those idiots finally believed that she was the leader of the Suthern Water Tribe. After that there was the difficulty of find the hotel. In her hotel room Dalara fell onto the bed and immediately went to sleep, looking forward to seeing her old friends again. ------------------- ![]()
