Wings of Time {M} {PM} {No longer accepting} {Started}

Cina ran through the woods with Luke, her dog, at her side. She wanted to get home as soon as she possibly could. A familiar face appeared. Cina slowed her movements and realized it was one of kitchen servants. "Miln!" The servant boy turned at the mention of his name. "Miln! We have to get back to the house immediately!" Miln raised an eyebrow. He was two years older than Cina. "We must hurry!" she urged him again as she grabbed his sleeve. "This isn't another of your games, is it?" Miln asked, his tone rough. "Uh...sure?" "Cina, I don't have time for your games right now." "Please, Miln." "No. I'm busy." "No, you're not" Cina told him firmly as she yanked his arm, pulling him off-balance. His bundle of wood that he had been carrying crashed to the ground. "What are we running from?" "Goblins! Luke attacked one that was about to shoot me with its arrow." Miln snorted. There weren't any goblins around, but whatever...let her pretend. "And now they're all after you?" Cina nodded. "We must hurry back to the village and prepare ourselves!"

Miln, Cina, and Luke ran the short distance to Cina's house. She burst through the door with Luke and Miln behind her. The kitchen workers didn't even bother to look up. They were used to such interruptions from Cina. "Come on" she ordered her friend as she weaved her way through the kitchen.

Cina ran through the hallways until she reached her father's office. "Father!" she shouted as she rushed into the room. Luke barked a greeting while Miln simply bowed. "Cina, what have I told you about interrupting me?" Carth questioned his daughter. "Only in times of emergencies and this is one!" Cina stood by her father's side. Carth turned his office chair to face Cina. "What?" Cina handed him the letter. Carth unfolded it and quickly scanned the piece of paper. Carth scanned the sheet of paper and shook his head. "This is nonsense, Cina. It's someone playing a joke on you." "No" Cina replied, trying to show her father that it was real and not just some game. "It's real. That paper is rare. You taught me that yourself. You said it's more expensive to buy than regular paper and is only used for magical messages." For the first time since they came in, Carth acknowledged Miln. "You can get back to work, then son." Miln nodded and bowed before leaving. "Wait a minute, young lady" Carth began as a bitter Cina was heading out. "Aren't you supposed to be at your music lesson?" Cina wrinkled her nose. She hated her flute as much as her chores. "Father, I’m not lying" Cina repeated, avoiding the question. "Go, Cina" Carth ordered. His tone clearly told her the discussion was over.

Cina stormed out with Luke at her heels. "I didn't make it up" she muttered to her faithful dog. Luke barked in a soft low tone, agreeing with her.

----

"Who could have told her that story?!" Carth demanded. Cina listened to her parents' conversation with perked ears. "I do not know" her mother growled deeply. The Lady of the House was not angered easily, but when she was... "I did not wish for her to learn it his way." Maiya nodded. "She is a child. Cina is only six-years-old!" she roared. "Who could have told her?" Carth asked, more to himself than to his wife. "The children aren't supposed to know until..." "Cina!" her mother shouted. "Come out!" Cina shamefully walked out of her hiding spot and into the room while looking at the floor. "Cina..." Maiya's voice was tight. "Yes?" "Since you can not follow orders, you are forbidden to go out into the forest until farther notice." "But-" "No" Carth said. "Now to bed with you."

After Cina closed the door behind her, Carth slowed raised the letter from his desk. His green eyes stared at the paper as if that would make it disappear. Maiya laid her hands on his shoulders. Carth looked at his wife and shook his head. He really really did not want his thoughts to be true.

That was the last she heard of it, but Cina made herself work harder to prepare for the attack. Whenever it may be.

----
Anica was always a diversified place. It had to be in order to survive. The western, southern, and eastern border is the Fangern Forest while the northern border is the Rami Sea.

In the village of Anica, six figures stand out to the people living there. Those very six make up the Council that makes advises the duke. The Council isn't used too often, usually only if something important is happening. The reason they stand out? Well, these six had defeated a very strong force that threatened Anica, but that was about twenty years ago. Each and every one of them has gotten married and has a child of their own now. Little do they realize, the force they faced so long ago is preparing its return. It wants revenge. Now it's up to their children to save the village. The next generation has to finish what their parents started.

This generation of children has grown up with each other. They know their parents did something important since they're respected more than the others in the village. The children have become friends...well...more or less.

Things have been going smoothly in Anica, but the Council has recently called an emergency meeting which hasn't happened since before this generation of children was born.

----

"What is it, boy?" The dog barked again. Cina’s boots crunched against the leaves on the forest floor. "Luke?" Luke came trotting back with a crumpled up faded piece of paper. Cina carefully took the letter and unfolded it. The words had been smeared. The ink had run together, but Cina’s eyes could still read the message that had been written in clear manner.

I’m coming

My characters:

Parent Character Sheet:

Name: Carth Seiki
Spouse: Maiya Seiki
Age: 40
Job: Owns and runs a family convenience store, Caisei
Appearance: Carth has short grey hair. He has a scar on his right cheek that runs up to the very curve of his right eyebrow. The scar is a curve. At first glance it almost looks like it missed his eye, but Carth is actually blind in that eye thanks to the incident. It doesn't jump out at people when they see him. It's mostly like you have to look right at it to see it, but when he's angry; it becomes a deep crimson color. Carth has sea green eyes. He usually wears a dusty brown apron around the store with a black shirt and green breeches.
Maiya has faded black hair that runs down to her shoulders. She keeps it back almost always. It's rare to see it undone. Maiya has deep blue eyes. She wears dark greens, reds, and blues.
Children: Only eighteen-year-old Cina
Family: All of his family was killed except for his older brother who lives in Yemsa, the nearest town.
Family Traits: Keen eyesight and can sense when something is about to happen.
History: When strange things started happening, Carth was the first to question them. He felt something was wrong. Dead wrong. He was hushed by his family and frowned upon by most of the village. So Carth went to the people he could trust. The people that would believe him, his friends. He explained how truly odd recent events were. Some believe him sooner than others, but they eventually all agreed.
Carth met Maiya after the adventure. She was an apprenticed healer at the time and almost ready to complete that apprenticeship. Maiya was assigned to help Carth and well...destiny took its course from there. The two got married and took over Caisei. Maiya helps down at the clinic when one of the healers is sick or on vacation, so Carth is the one mainly running the store.
They had a daughter together, Cina. He doesn't regret not having a son. He wasn't even sure he was ready to be a father at the time. He’s overprotective of Cina, because of the events that ripped his family apart. And yet he pushes her hard when it comes to her training. He makes her work until she gets a certain move right and then moves on to something else.
Weapon: Carth carries a bow that can shoot four arrows at once. The directions the arrows can be shot default to north, east, south, and west, but can be changed if magic becomes involved. He also has katana, but rarely uses it.
Abilities: Carth has very good eyesight (with his left eye at least). He can see far into the distance. Carth also can manipulate his bow to enable it to shoot as fast and in what directions.
Memories: When Carth and Maiya were dating, Carth took her to Lonpo Lake on a date. He had one of those days that a person felt they could do anything after having. Maiya had packed a lunch for them, so she was setting that up. Carth wanted to show off a little, so he climbed one of the tallest trees around the lake. He planned to run on one of the trees branches, jump, and dive gracefully into the lake. That wasn't really what happened. While Carth was running on the tree branch, it snapped and sent him flying into a nearby boulder. A few of his friends happened to be "wandering" by and saw the whole thing.
Personality: Stubborn, courageous, persistent, and overprotective
Other: None.

Main Character Sheet:

Name: Cina Seiki
Age: 18
Job: Works part-time at the Caisei
Appearance: Cina has her mother's black hair which runs down to a little above her shoulders. Her father's sea green eyes are the same color as hers. She has a scar on her left hand when she left out of a tree she was climbing. She tried to grab onto something, but instead was cut by a sharp branch. Cina wears reds, blues, grays, and oranges.
Family: Cina finds her mother and father very similar. They care for others more than themselves and they keep to their own business.
Cina likes her father more than her mother. He understands her better since she is very like him, but then again Carth and Cina fight more with each other.
Family Traits: Keen eyesight and can sense when something is about to happen
History: Cina is always looking for a new challenge. She often gets herself into more trouble than she can handle half the time. Cina has been known to underestimate others or situations she has been placed into which gets her into even more trouble. She likes to venture out into Fangern Forest and explore or climb. Since she doesn't have any siblings, she treats Luke like her little brother and has very strong relationships with her friends.
Weapon: Unlike her father, she depends on her falchion instead of a bow.
Abilities: Besides her family traits, Cina can understand most people and why they do things in a certain way.
Memories: When she was ten, a couple friends and Cina got together to have a race. Cina was excited and ready. She teasingly bragged that she would be first since she knew the forest well. The track was winding and narrow, so it was hard to pass the other contestants. Cina started off in last place, saving her energy for a big finish. She steadily grew farther and farther behind. When she figured the time was right, Cina sped up to caught up to the others and ended up falling into a huge hole that she couldn't climb out of. Cina was stuck in there for a day before she was found and came in last place once she was rescued.
Personality: Curious, stubborn, a thinker, accepting
Other: Known as a troublemaker from her childhood.

Just remember to follow the rules or something will come after you. Otherwise have fun!

re: Wings of Time {M} {PM} {No longer accepting} {Started}

Parent Character Sheet:

Name: Bo Castor
Spouse: Destiny
Age: 45
Job: Blacksmith who primarily makes weapons and armor.
Appearance: Bo is roughly 6 foot 4 inches tall of nearly solid muscle. He has the look of someone you wouldn't want to mess with. Steely gray eyes appear to stare right through you and an intimidating face to boot. His blood red hair is slightly longer than most males, pulled back in a short pony tail that reaches the back of his neck. On his left arm, on the bicep, is a tattoo of the three-headed dog: Cerberus.
Children: 1, Vasu (18)
Family: Parents and wife deceased, only one child.
Family traits: Blood red hair runs in the family
History: Growing up in a blacksmithing family, he found it only natural that he should learn the trade. He stayed single for most of his life, making his living before love. That didn't last too long as one of the villagers came in for a present for her father. The woman's name was Destiny Hill and her father, Miles, happened to be a collector of swords. The two hit it off after a few visits. It was for her that he made his masterpiece sword, which now hangs in their home. They married soon after the incident and, two years after, had a baby boy.
Weapon: A large hammer.
Abilities: Can and has made weapons for the village.
Memories: One memory that always stands out was the first time he saw Destiny. Tolling over a hot anvil and hammer, dirty from ash and smoke alike, when an angel walked into the store. Probably one of the more embarrassing moments seeing as he was absolutely disgusting when she came in. He was surprised when she didn't mind one bit. Their first meeting had always been one of his favorite memories.
Personality: Loyal; calm; doesnt get pushed around; isn't afraid to speak his mind; respectful (within reason)

Main Character Sheet:

Name: Vasu Castor
Age: 18
Job: Medicine man
Appearance: Vasu looks nothing like his father asides from his blood red hair. Taking his traits from his mother, he stands at 5 foot 7 with a mostly wiry frame. He has deep, inviting green eyes that are the exact opposite of his father's.
Family: His father, Bo, is still alive. Mother, Destiny, is not.
Family Traits: He has the blood red hair of his father and the emerald green eyes of his mother.
History: Asides from his father's pestering to take up the family business of blacksmithing, his life had been pretty easy. His mother had died in child birth, so he had never met her although he had always wanted to. Around his 12 birthday, however, he found his mother's old medicine pouch. It was empty, of course, but it laid a profound interest in medicine in the boy. Talking with his father, Bo no longer attempted to push his boy into the blacksmithing business and let the village elders help him learn the trade of medicine. Over the years he has learned much and has become an important part of the village society, working freelance for little.
Weapon: A small knife mostly used for cutting herbs and not useful for much else
Abilities: Good at mixing medicine, knowledgeable about herbs and roots. Can cook quite well.
Memories: He always turns beet red at the mention of the one time he had almost burnt down the entire shop trying to help his father at blacksmithing.
Personality: VERY Shy; Quiet; Respectful; Smart

Family traits: Their tall and lean build, pale complexion, and silvery-blonde hair are genetic.

re: Wings of Time {M} {PM} {No longer accepting} {Started}

Parent Character Sheet:

Name: Telia Amstris (maid name Turcois) (Female)
Spouse: Falken Amstris (Deceased)
Age: 46
Job: Runs a small school in the village, but is very picky about her students. She charges nothing, but a few parents make monthly donations of money. She acted as the teacher for more than one child of Council members.
Appearance: 172cm tall. Although she is already of a certain age, Telia is what one could call a hot woman. Light blond hair, pale skin, slim, and beautiful, if not by a single detail. Telia wears a black blindfold all the time, to hide the burn scars left in her eyes. Sometimes, one is still able to see the burns around her eyes, almost bluish in color due to the effects of the dark magic which caused them. Tends to wear light clothing, but has no preferences.
Children: Gaspar Amstris. (22)
Family: Only her son, who lives with her.
Family traits: In-born tendency for caution and out-of-proportion rational thinking bordering icy-cold-hearted behavior. Pale skin and honey-colored eyes (at least they WERE honey-colored).
History: During the final battle, Telia was nearly killed with dark magic. Her eyes were forever ruined and she spent several days doing nothing but maintaining vital signs. It was thought she had become permanently immobilized, but in the span of the next few months she proved that to be untrue. Among the other five, only Carth holds anything near friendship with her. Telia at the same time sees him as foolish and brave.
Weapon: Splendore, a staff holding a minimal fraction of the magical power of their old enemy. Telia claims it became like that after the final battle and it was the staff's change that kept her from dying. This is, however, not a fact. The staff is made from a thick branch of feywood, whick gets darker and with a faint purpleish glow near the end.
Abilities: Has great wisdom and tries to pass that on to her students. She is a beloved teacher.
Memories: There was this one time, as a young woman she still had her eyes at full function, when she began stalking a young man (roughly the current age of her son) while "checking him out". She did that unknowingly, and followed him for several minutes. When she finally regained her senses, Telia was confused and disoriented, not to mention lost. The man would become her husband for some time, years later.
Personality: Gentle, wise, caring and a loving mother. Yet, cold and calculating, when her resolve is put to test.
Other: Among the Council members, she might be the one with most respected and trusted opinion on many matters, even if the feeling is not the same when coming from her old "companions".

Main Character Sheet:

Name: Gaspar Amstris
Age: 22
Job: Village Guard.
Appearance: Silvery Black hair, from his father, and pale skin. Stands 180 high. Strong build. Wears mostly blue and black clothing, but can be seen with a occasional dark gray or white. Wears the usual brown and olive uniform when on-duty.
Family: Only his mother is alive.
Family Traits: In-born tendency for caution and out-of-proportion rational thinking bordering icy-cold-hearted behavior. Pale skin and honey-colored eyes.
History: A man of few, good friends. Gaspar has the tendency to expect too much from people, he is very demanding, especially from himself. Since he never knew his father, Gaspar was unable to find an actual goal of a man who he should best. As such, he decided that if he becomes the best man possible he is bound to surpass his father, at some point.
Weapon: His father's rapier, nicknamed Beatrice. It has a white sheath, adorned with green and golden decorations. Both the hilt and guard share these colors, and the blade is of a dark gray tone.
Abilities: Splendid fighter, although many find it strange for a village guard to use dress weapons.
Memories: There was this one bar fight he was called to control where one of the men involved badmouthed him. Gaspar, usually cold and professional-like, snapped and almost killed the man in cold blood. He never really got over it.
Personality: Kind and selfless. But, like his mother, is cold and full of resolve to do the "wrong" thing, if needed.
Other: Deep inside, Gaspar holds a great desire to learn more about the man who was his father.

re: Wings of Time {M} {PM} {No longer accepting} {Started}

Parent Character Sheet:

Name: Kallon Lorn

Spouse: Ellen Lorn

Age: 42

Job: Black-smith, works alongside Bo Castor.

Appearance: Dressed in drear rags while working, he never seems to be dressed for occasion. Only for situation. He is quite tall, measuring at around 6'1 and has quite a powerful muscular frame. Kallon is often thought of a brute of a man, but is agile and quick footed. Moving around with ease and without strain.

Children: One son, Twenty years of age, and a daughter of sixteen.

Family: Younger brother, Talwin. Lives outside the village walls is his only last relative aside his family.
Family traits: Raven hair, grows to ear length quickly and a high level of apitude.

History: Kallon was the most reluctant of the group, however many considered him most loyal to Carth and found it surprising he was not the most willing to help him. Once coming around however, he saw out the ordeal with the greatest resolve.

Once done, he took the opportunity to travel. Journeying wide and far, sometimes falling into the service of several keen admiring lords before leaving soon after. It was then he met Ellen, a rouge and rough girl who was three years younger than him. He found her a nuisance, but she was willing to earn is friendship. In time she did that and more, becoming his eventual wife.

Together they returned to the village, Kallon settling down as a smith and picking up the trade alongside Bo. Soon after his son, Jaster, would enter his world. Kallon was unconfident in his son, at a young age he noticed he took less physical resemblance to him as he did his mother. They shared similar raven hair, he was smaller build, but same height. Then shared the dire attitude of his mother and the cunning thought of his father. Naturally making his adept to learning.

Weapon: He is expert in brawling and infantry weapons such as swords.

Abilities: An incredible warrior, and cunning tactician.

Memories: Nights of hardship, his first encounter with Ellen, his son's youth, and many more.

Personality: Kallon is rough, broad minded, stern but yet still passionate.

Other: None

Main Character Sheet:

Name: Jaster Lorn

Age: 20

Job: Works under his father, Kallon, and Bo in the black-smith's.

Appearance: Jaster is a lighter build than his father, but equal in height. He has ear length hair, sharing the same raven colour as his father and hazel eyes of his mother. He wheres rough clothing; slacks, boots, tunic and leather jackets for example.

Family: He and his mother share a closer relationship than most, however he and his father don't use the word 'love' often. More instead, the hold their relationship down by a mutual amount of respect, Jaster admiring him while Kallon acknowledging his skill.

Family Traits: Jaster inherit's his mother dire will and fathers aptitude and cunning. As well as similar appearance to both.

History: Jaster is the quietest one of the group, adding little unless it's important. He has a tough appearance, but in truth he considers himself simply shy. Sometimes he is dared to test his abilities against another, and simple refuses and bows out. He instead follows the others, usually Cina, into trouble and is more than often the one that drags them out.

Weapon: He is a pacifist, and therefore dislike it. However he carries a narrow long sword, once a possession of his fathers.

Abilities: Jaster was taught the skills of a blade since a young age, but after finding the idea of taking life disturbing. He convinced his father to instead teach him how to fight unarmed, to disable and end a fight without having to kill. Making him a un-matched fighter while unarmed, and a adept warrior with the blade.

Memories: When younger, he had a habbit of simply following others. Several times he can recall moments where he had to help his friends, searching for Cina and dragging her out of her grave, dragging Darius out of harms way, and them moments when he generally wonders why he bothered. However there was once a time he was not the savior, or the bystander.

Before any of those he was more excitable than any of his friends. However, while being told to guard and protect a cluster of chickens, he decided to use his father's sword to do it. Killing a fox, the moment impacted him. Making his pacifist towards killing.

Personality: Jaster is quiet, shy, stern and a pacifist.

Liam had nearly black hair and strong masculine features and a bright smile.
Children: 2, Lana and a young son named Khaaz

Family traits: Violet eyes, small height, accurate aim
History: Silvya’s role in the adventure was keeping everyone alive. A few close calls in battles came down to her accurate aim. She brushes it all off like it was nothing, because she thinks it’s nothing, she only did what she had to, to keep her friends alive. She was rather close to Carth but they drew apart on account of her husband’s death. She found she could confide in Bo after he had made her new throwing daggers. She met Liam one day when she was visiting her 3rd cousin twice removed in a nearby town. Liam was loud, and overly confident bordering on arrogance. Silvie found him very annoying and ignored him most of the time she was at her cousin’s town, but his determination won her over a week before she left. They kept in touch, and he often visited. He proposed a year later.
Weapon: Throwing Daggers
Abilities: Silvie’s accurate aim with her throwing daggers saved some trouble during the adventure.
Memories: One time she was arguing with Carth, and she thought she was undoubtedly right. It was a few months after the fire. In the end Silvie apologized, as Carth was right. Their fight drew them ever farther apart.
Personality: Quiet, selfless, brave
Other: Plans on handing down her throwing daggers to Lana

Main Character Sheet:

Name: Lianna “Lana” Ryidervan
Age: 19
Job: Works in her mother’s restaurant when needed other wise she keeps care of her little brother Khaaz while her mother is working.
Appearance: Violet eyes and dark almost black hair that is a little longer than shoulder length and frames her soft facial features, she is relatively short. Like her mother, she has a black dragon tattoo, but on just her back. The dragon is just a spider webby outline, its wings spread eagle across her shoulders, and its body and tail along the length of her spine.
Family: While Lana doesn’t always get along well with her little brother, she does adore him for his friendly nature and always outgoing and optimistic attitude.
Family Traits: Violet eyes, small height, accurate aim
History: Is fairly close with Cina even though their personalities sometimes clash, and has become good friends with Vasu since their parents are close friends. Although Lana and Cina might tease him sometimes, she does nothing out of heartlessness; however she is often annoyed by Jaster’s pacifistic view.
Weapon: Is very good with a maple bow, as she had learned from Carth, but is better with her mother’s throwing daggers.
Abilities: Excellent fighter if need be and is a quick thinker allowing her to usually come up with a simple solution, can cook fairly well because of her experience in her mother’s restaurant and her accuracy enables her to be a fairly good hunter.
Memories: While walking along a log in the forest while everyone else walked along the trail, she had tried showing of by doing a creative front flip off the log onto the trail, but only landed face first into the muddy ground.
Personality: Loud, very patient, often cautious but can be carefree, trusting, militaristic point of view
Other: Has a picture of her father and mother before she was born.

OOC: I've been given the Honor of starting it off... hence my double post...

IC:

Lana was washing tables while her mother, Silvya cleaned dishes in the back room. Lana sighed in slight content, the noon hour rush was over, and it had settled into a quiet peace. She smiled.
“Lianna!”
Her smile disappeared, as she paused in her work then yelled back, “Yes, Mother?”
“After you’re done with that you can go back to watching Khaaz…”
Lana’s smile returned, “Okay!”
She tucked her nearly black hair back behind her ears and quickly finished up her job.
Taking a last look at the little restaurant of her mothers with it’s brightly painted walls of local landscaping, she ran back home, a short jog a block down to where Khaaz waited patiently on the front steps.
Breathing slightly harder than usual from her sprint she grinned at her brother. “The woods?” she inquired.
He nodded enthusiastically, “Yeah!”

Silvie sighed heavily and put the last dish in the stack. Drying her hands, she walked back out into the common area, where it was very quiet, everyone had gone back to work.
It was times like these, when Silvie had time to herself that she has a lot of time to think. She went back into the kitchens, grabbing herself some left over food, and a cup of tea, and walking back out to the front, she walked to a table near the front window, contemplating over her thoughts, and became lost in them as she slowly ate.

The roar of the fire muffled what could be screams, as she clutched to nine year old Lana and her month old baby boy Khaaz. Liam had gone inside, to go save any of her family members left inside. Silvie had pleaded with him to stay, she had tried waking her family before, but it was too late for most, they had inhaled too much smoke.
“Mama, where did Papa go? Why isn’t he back?” Lana asked, watching the fire with tear filled eyes.

“Silvie? Silvie? Silvya, snap out of it.”
Silvie shook her head, “Oh, Carth, what is it?”

re: Wings of Time {M} {PM} {No longer accepting} {Started}

The sound of metal clanging on metal filled the air, an eerie demonic glow coming from an open window, smoke pouring out from a large chimney clotting the sun from beating down on this somewhat large building. The place reeked of sulfur, of rust, and of sweat. The clanging sound from the two metal objects stopped. There was a silence before a loud, deep voice rang through the house. “C’mon, Vasu! Bring that water, the sword isn’t going to cool down by itself!”

“I’m sorry father!” In an instance, the blacksmith’s son ran in with a bucket of cold water. He refilled the barrel of water on the other side of the room from the furnace. The blacksmith carefully lifted the sword up, being very careful with the heat-resistant gloves, and dipped the blade into the large barrel. Instantly, a cloud of steam rose into existence and covered the room.

“One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. Right, that should do it.,” Pulling the blade out for the last time, he walked it over to one of the wall racks and hung it up to cool some more. His expert eyes studied the weapon for any cracks or blemishes that would cause it to be remolded and, once he was satisfied there were none, he moved on.

“Father, why do I have to help you out in the shop today? You know that making medicines for the village is an important task.” The young man, Vasu, backed away from the furnace. His body wasn’t used to the intense heat that a blast furnace put out and, when put together with his memories of almost burning the whole place down, he wouldn’t exactly count the object as a friend.

“You know it’s Kallon and Jaster’s day off. Besides, there’s nothing that bad around here anyways. One day’s not gunna kill ya. Toughen up; it’s a scary world out there. You can’t be complaining about a little heat.”

“A little heat? The furnace is at full blast! You’ll have to excuse me for having the thin skin of my mother.” Vasu crossed his arms and walked out of the room before his father could react. The older man had stopped trying to get his son into the blacksmithing business ever since the Lorns had come. Every now and again, though, there would be a fresh attempt to convert him.

“Excuse me, is Mr. Castor here??”

Vasu was snapped out of his thoughts and turned to face the voice. A messenger boy stood in the doorway. Swallowing slightly, the rather shy Vasu walked up to the counter, trying not to stutter or make a fool out of himself. “My father’s in the back room. Is there anything I might be able to help you with?”

“I was told I had to deliver the message personally, sorry.”

Vasu waved it off and called back to the furnace room. “Father! Someone’s here to see you!”

Another loud clanking sound was heard before Bo Castor stuck his head out of the back room. Seeing the messenger boy he held up a finger to indicate that he’d be just a moment and went back into the room. A few moments later he walked back, his face now clear of the dirt and grime that plagued his profession. With a gruff voice he said, “Alright, speak up.”

The messenger boy looked from Bo to Vasu and back again. One thing that never failed to amuse visitors was the differences between the looks of father and son. While Bo was tall, Vasu was of average height. Where Bo was muscular, Vasu was wiry and thin. Bo was loud and intimidating, Vasu was shy and inviting; two opposites of the same board.

“The Council is being called to order tonight at sun down, at town hall.”

“Right, I’ll be there. Vasu, we’re closing shop early. Gotta get cleaned up and become presentable and all that.”

Vasu nodded at the messenger boy as he bowed and took his leave. “I’ll lock the doors and keep track of the tools, but I don’t wish to get close to that furnace again.”

“I understand. I’ll take care of it.”

“Thank you, Father.” The young medicine man watched his father return to the back room of their little Smithy and glanced towards the door. Calling a council at such short notice? I hope nothing bad has happened…

"So much for my day off." Jaster crumbled as he brought the axe down once more, cleaving the wood's surface and splitting it down the middle. Around him neatly arranged rows and coloumns filled nearly a third of the space around the house. Jaster remembered the relief he felt, being old by his father that today both of them had been spared a day. Only to be awoken this morning by his mother and have her demands he cut the mass of the forest before dinner. Jaster left the axe embedded in the stump for a moment, reaching back with his arms to relieve himself of the nagging strains in his back. 'Why is it I'm always the one the one given work on a day titled for rest.' He thought, daydreaming. "Will you hurry up!" A voice bellowed from inside the house, as his mother stood up behind him. Jaster sighed and took the axe in hand once more, pulling it free and resting it by his side while using his other hand to set a new cut of timber in it's place. 'Oh well, no point resisting her now.' He thought, as the two halves of the timber dropped to the grass.

- - - - - - - - - -

"She made you cut all of these?" Kallon exclaimed, stepping out of the house for the first time that day. Jaster was seated in the shade by the picket fence that ran around the house. "Wasn't that bad." He said quietly, his focus on the clouds above. Kallon looked around again, measuring the amount of space left. "I know she wanted to have a stock, but a backyard forest wasn't in my expectations. Take your done now then if you sitting down?" Kallon asked, walking over so he purposely interrupted his view. Jaster simple sighed and nodded. "Then go check the market for food. Bread, meat, fish, the works." He said, tossing a pocket of coins into his lap. "Fine." He moaned, getting to his feet and brushing down the back of his trousers and tunic.

- - - - - - - - - -

"Sir Kallon!" A voice called from outside, awaking Kallon. "Eh!" He called from his bed, to lazy to go outside. "Sir, I have a message entitle to you." Sighing heavily, Kallon got up from his hide and went outside. A young boy was standing upright before him. "At ease." He joked, opening the entrance to the fence and stepping onto the path beside him. "What's with this sir nonsense...oh and what's the message." He asked him, wanting to go back to bed. "Oh, sorry sir." He stuttered, and Kallon frowned. "Ah, the council is addressing it's member for a meeting later at sun down in the hall." He finished, without waiting for response the boy left Kallon and carried on to continue his work. "Then it looks like my day off is ruined to Jaster." He said to himself as he went back inside to prepare.

“Nightfall is coming... What’s on your mind, my son?” The calm voice of his mother echoed in Gaspar’s mind. “Something bothers you... more than it should.”
“It’s nothing, mother. I just...” The young man sighed. It was awfully frustrating to have someone as perspective and ‘observing’ as his mother around. He could never keep anything from her, even if he wanted. Gaspar would have had a dark childhood, if Telia weren’t so understanding. Still... He could never get used to it.
*giggle* “You know well of my curiosity. If something is bothering you, I want you to tell me what it is.”
“Well... I don’t understand. Why this meeting so suddenly? It’s obviously something serious...” Gaspar thought of how inconvenient it was for all the ‘heroes’.
“The Council is called when it has to be called. If a single member believes it’s serious or not, it doesn’t matter. All that matters is whether or not the others agree with him. Or rather... if they believe him.”
“But... That still doesn’t answer my question. What would be so important that the Council is called with such haste?”
“Hum... I want to be able to tell you something, Gaspar. Things are as simple as they have always been. Not all of them trust me, and none enjoy my presence. However, it will be them who decide if this is, or not, a serious matter.” Telia finished, taking her time to rest. Gaspar knew, too well, that he would not get anything from her before it was time. It was not that he did not have her trust... Still, it was too soon.

Gaspar stood behind his mother, holding her shoulders gently. He was wearing an usual iron mail underneath his uniform (actually, it was part of it) and the cloth was of the village’s colors. He wore no helmet whatsoever, so his silvery black hair could be free to feel the damned wind. His hair was long enough to touch his shoulders already, he had promised himself to have it cut next week. He knew well that such promise was absurd, and he would not keep on with such madness. He liked his hair, but his warrior side always told him that it was inconvenient and could be something exploited by any enemy with enough brains to pull it. Still... Gaspar was a fine fencer. He figured he could allow himself to have that weakness, he could compensate it.

His mother sat quietly in the balcony of the town hall. She was wearing a cloaked robe, with wide sleeves and waist, light gray in color. Her plain pink-colored dress could be seen under the robe. Her face was serenity itself... how could it? How could her? How could that woman be so calm...

It would happen soon. They were probably on their way already. Perhaps it was just him... But something was amiss. He could feel it in the air, in the forest, in the birds. It was just a feeling... an uneasy feeling of change. And his mother had probably felt it, too. But... she was so much more... so more powerful, more wise. Something Gaspar had nothing but a weak feeling about... He guessed Telia had as much as a glimpse of it. Perhaps Malorne shared this glimpse, but no one else. And no one understood it better then his mother...

“Mistress Amstris?” A young woman came from inside the hall, into the balcony area. She wore plain white and brown clothes and had beautiful and heavenly pair of... red hair. She was a redhead. Her hair was of a maddening tone of red, and she had it shoulder length, pixie cut. That was...
“Jenn, how many times do I have to tell you? I’m not your teacher anymore, you don’t need to call me that.” Telia smiled. If there was one thing that kept Gaspar’s mother at full potential was her teaching. It was her reason to live ever since his father died. Speaking to one of her students, especially the ex-students, always brought a smile to her face. “Now let’s try once again.”
“Haha... You know too well I can’t do it, Mistress.” The girl had now a big smile on her face. Jenn was talkative to a completely unknown level. But Gaspar liked her way, nonetheless. Though her mother should probably watch the amount of skin she showed. “But... Oh, right. Mister Castor and his son have arrived. I’ve asked them to wait in the lobby.”
“Thank you, dear. We are going to meet them.” Telia smiled again, preparing to get up and get started.
“Oh, Mistress! I don’t think they were informed about who called the Council. I just wanted to let you know that.” Jenn gave one last smile and went back inside.
“Come, Gaspar. There is much to do, this will be an unusual evening.”

re: Wings of Time {M} {PM} {No longer accepting} {Started}

Vasu watched in silence as the young lady, Jenn, brought Telia and Gaspar Amtris into the lobby. Although his head was hung low, he couldn’t help but watch Jenn as she passed through the lobby and into the back room. He always had a hard time keeping his eyes off of her, even when they were both under the tutelage of Ms. Amtris. Letting out a sigh, he shook his head and looked up at the newcomers. He gave them a polite nod, as did his father, but the room remained silent. Bo was acting uncharacteristically calm today. Usually when he and Telia were in the same room together you could count on some kind of firework to go out. But today? Silence, something was definitely wrong.

Another sigh before the door opened and Jenn walked back into the room. Taking a seat behind a desk, making herself look busy. She was also halfway bent over the desk, giving anyone looking a clear view of-

“Stop staring, you did say that you were a gentleman, didn’tcha?” Bo accusingly asked as he noticed his son staring. Vasu instantly turned red in the face and averted his eyes to the ground. He was grateful that his father spoke softly so that none would hear. That would only cause him to turn even redder. That is, until, “C’mon, it never hurts to ask.”

Vasu groaned and hide his face in his palms, resting his elbows on his knees. That last bit was much louder and everyone was staring at him. He felt his face burning out of the embarrassment. He managed to turn his head so he could glare at his father, who just grinned back. A slight nudge from Bo almost toppled the young man off of his chair, causing his beet red face to be shown to the world.

“Is there anything I can get you?” asked Jenn, her head tilted off to the side while resting on the palm of her hand.

“N-no, I-I’m fine. Nothing is wrong here….” Vasu’s voice seemed stuck in his throat as he spoke quietly. Face now a matching in color with his hair. Jenn looked at him for a few seconds before returning to her work. He gave one last glare at his father before burying his face in his hands.

Bo spoke once more, returning his tone to that of a quieter tone. “You need to learn to speak to people. How are you ever going to find a wife if you can’t even think straight around a woman? Jenn’s a nice enough girl, you should talk to her.”

“Father, I can’t just change in a few seconds. I’m a shy person, there’s no working around that. And I’m doubly shy around women, it’s a fact.”

“You’re not that shy when Lianna’s around, which proves that you can get along with women.”

“Lana? She’s always around, and she never has any problems talking to me. There’s pretty much nothing I can do but talk to her.”

“You’re going to live a lonely life if you keep this up.”

“Father, I know you’re just looking out for me, but can we please drop this? It’s not the kind of discussion I want to be having in public, no matter how much of it is in whispers.”

Bo sat back in his chair and crossed his arms. After a few seconds he nodded and rotated his shoulders as if he were working some kinks out. “Alright, alright, I’ll stop for now. But you know I don’t give up that easily. I’m your father, I’m supposed to bug you about all that kinda stuff.”

“And you do a magnificent job of bugging me about all that stuff.” The room fell silent once again, leaving the occupant’s minds to wander once more…

re: Wings of Time {M} {PM} {No longer accepting} {Started}

Cina sighed. She had her chin resting on the palm of her hand as she watched people outside the glass windows walk by. Some rushed and others took their time getting to their destination. They had time to waste, or well…most of them anyway. While Cina was stuck watching the store, her father went over to the restaurant Ryidervans owned and her mother recently had the flu, so she was resting now to regain her strength. Maiya, herself wasn’t too thrilled about lying around doing nothing and made sure her two family members, who kept her there, knew it. Cina was now pretty much ignoring her mother. Once she could return to her usual schedule, she would go back to listening or listening as much as a girl like Cina could.

Cina drew her head away from her palm and leaned back against a shelf. She did so carefully, remembering what had happened when she tried that many years ago. Almost everything had been knocked off the shelf and she had to put everything back. Cina was just glad there wasn’t anything breakable on that shelf.

----

Carth ran his fingers through his hair, something he did quite often. He looked at the table and then back up Silvie. “Well...” he began, but was cut off by someone bursting through the door.

It was a young boy who looked all out of breath. Silvie got up and gave the boy a glass of water. He nodded his thanks since he couldn’t really speak at that moment. He took a deep breath and words spilled out. At first none of them made any news until Carth took him to repeat himself. “Ms. Ryidervan, Mr. Seiki, the Council is meeting at town hall at sun down.” “Thank you” Carth told him. The young boy nodded and ran back out almost the same way he ran in.

“The Council?” Silvie whispered. Carth shook his head as his thoughts roamed wildly. He kept thinking about the note Cina found all those years ago. Did this have something to do with it?

----

Cina began to close up the store since it was almost sunset. She was about to lift the Open sign to Closed when an elderly man walked into the shop. Cina sighed and her shoulders slumped. She loved watching the sun set and almost never missed it. Now here was some slow old man who was going to go as slow as he possibly could, so Cina would have to wait until he got every item that he needed.

The man looked around the store and then headed to the perfume area. Cina raised an eyebrow. She never went over there unless she had to stock and there he went. Maybe he was buying something for his wife? The elderly whose name Cina couldn’t remember stared at each bottle before heading to shelves lined with different sorts of food. Again, he stared and examined each product, but never lifted one to show that he might want to buy it.

Cina walked back behind the counter hoping that he was almost done. She hated waiting and hated missing things she wanted to see. Cina was trying hard to keep quiet and “not annoy the customers” like she had been told, but this man was making her wait. Cina glanced at him to see that he picked up a jar of flour. Her hopes of having his shopping done rose dramatically. He walked towards the counter, but then he paused. The old man looked at the flour again and examined every part of the jar. He shook his head and walked back and placed the flour jar along side a jar clearly marked salt. Cina glared at him while his back was turned. The elderly man picked a small container of candy and started for the counter again. In the exact same spot, he glared at the candy and examined it. He shook his head and placed the candy on top of a toy train since he was now in the toy section.

After looking at food, he slowly made his way over to the baby section. Cina clenched her lips tightly together, trying to stay quiet and not say a word. Maybe he had a grandchild or something? He scanned each and every product before actually choosing something. He lifted a baby bottle from the shelf and grinned what Cina thought was a creepy looking smile. It was almost like it was prepared to eat the bottle, but instead of doing so, he slowly walked to the counter.

“I think I would like this item” he said. His voice felt old and his breath smelled of old cheese. Cina bit her lip for a few seconds to not wrinkle her nose at the smell. “You think or you know, sir?” she asked. Cina’s voice was strained. She was barely keeping herself calm. She wanted to hurry and finish his purchase and ran off to make it in time for the sunset. “Huh?” he asked loudly as if she had asked a stupid question that he was expecting. “Would you like to buy this baby bottle?” “Oh! No, I just wanted to see if the glass looked better on a large wooden surface like this counter.” Cina swallowed hard. “Then why did you say you would like that item?” “I did? Oh, then I shall buy it.” “Do you know any babies or someone that is going to have one?” “No” the man answered slowly. “I just always wanted one.” Cina rang up the baby bottle and the elderly man paid her after digging in his pants’ pocket to find some money.

As he began to walk towards the door, Cina took the money out and put it in the safe. She would come back later and take it home. After that, Cina flipped the Open sign to Closed, but the man was still not out of the store. She jumped up and down hoping he would move a little faster than his current turtle pace.

Finally the little old man walked out of the shop and headed south, probably to his house with his baby bottle in his right hand. Cina quickly locked the door, but when she noticed the light, she sighed. The sun had already begun to sink and Cina only liked to watch from the start. She sighed again and started to head home.

Her head was low from missing the sight she saw almost every day from having to wait until that little old man bought a baby bottle for himself since he never had one...

The black haired girl lifted her head a little to see her father. With her spirits suddenly lifted, Cina ran towards Carth. “How did your talk with Silvya go?” “We didn’t get to talk” Carth replied. He sounded almost nervous. Cina had never heard her father nervous, so she just brushed it off as something she imagined. “Why not?” “The messenger came and we spilt up to go to the meeting shortly afterwards.” “Oh” Cina replied, somewhat saddened by the story. It wasn’t as exciting as she thought it would be. “What meeting?” she asked, remembering a messenger coming in the store looking for her father. “A Council meeting.” Cina raised an eyebrow. “A Council meeting?” A knot formed in her stomach. All she could think about this was that it couldn’t be good. “Yes. Each member is coming tonight to discuss something.” “Discuss what?” Carth sighed. “I don’t know for sure yet.” 'For sure?'

“Can I come?” “It’s for Council members, Cina.” “Please? I watched the store almost all day by myself.” Carth glanced at his daughter. “Please?” Carth shook his head and sighed. “Alright, but you have to behave.” “I will” Cina said, smiling, but the knots in her stomach didn’t fade.

OOC: Sorry it took so long. Part of the old man part is thanks to Zero.

Edit: Changed a small error.

Silvya finished up with what she was doing, and then locked up the restaurant. Taking a last glance, making sure she did everything she needed, she walked home.

Lana glanced up as her mother walked in the door.
“What’s wrong?” Lana asked quietly.
Placing Khaaz’s dinner plate in front of him, she guided her mother into the kitchen where they could talk privately… Khaaz was too young to understand any of it, and he still sometimes asked about their father. Flinching, Lana returned her mind again to the matter at hand. “What happened?”

Silvie shook her head. “Nothing…” Silvie paused, trailing off
Lana gave her mother a ‘yeah right’ look.
“Let me finish would you?”
Lianna smiled, nodded, and went back to patiently listening. Something she was good at. Being patient.
“Carth came in shortly after you left—“ Silvie looked off in the distance, a half glazed over look came to her face and she shook her head, “He snapped me out of my thoughts… He wanted to talk. But there was a messenger… Lana, they called a Council meeting tonight.”

Lana changed clothes, a soft dark green shirt and dark blue, almost navy, colored pants, and ran a quick brush through her almost black shoulder length hair. “Bah… still a mess, always will be, whatever…” She mumbled to herself.
“Khaaz! Darling little brother? Will you come here please?”
Smiling brightly, he giggled at her.
“What’s so funny?” She asked, and couldn’t help but smile back.
“You’ve still got dirt on your face, and that scratch from playing in the woods with me today. Aren’t you supposed to be clean faced?”
“Hush you, Mother and I are going to a meeting, Khaaz,” Lana kneeled down to his height, “You have to stay here, I’m not sure how long we’ll be gone.”
“Why can’t I come??”
“You’d have to wait outside, and its getting dark out.”
“I’m not afraid of the dark!” He announced triumphantly, standing real tall.
“Didn’t say you were. You don’t want to wait outside, you’d be all alone, and you’d be bored.”
Frowning, he gave in, “Fine, I’ll wait, when are you getting home? Will you still read me more of that story?”
Lana grinned at her brother, “Perhaps, I’m not sure when we’ll be back.”
“Please don’t burn the house down…” She added very quietly, so her mother wouldn’t hear.
Her brother nodded gravely, and tried pushing her away when she gave him a hug. He ran off and she cleaned her face again, making sure no lingering spots were still there.

Lana along with her mother left the house with Khaaz waving good-bye from the open door, shedding a yellow light along their path til he closed it shortly after.

Arriving at the Town Hall shortly after they left home, Lana smiled brightly at Vasu, and at Cina across the room.

OOC: Quick one before my battery dies! o.0

Jaster swung his arms, bringing himself back up and finishing his squat. He repeated this for a full twenty minutes, too bored to simply wait around. "You waiting for someone?" His father laughed. "Well? If they hurry up!" Jaster retorted quietly, so as his father couldn't hear. Finished with his excercise he stretched off and looked at Kallon with eager eyes. "So are we going or what?" Jaster asked his father, who simply laughed in response. "Yeah sure we are going." He said pushing him slightly and getting him to move. "Let's go already." With that Kallon took the lead, and Jaster followed in tow. "So will I just wait outside again and wait for you to fall out of the door like last time?" Jaster smiled, a smug look on his face. "Drop it, and yeah I suppose. If Carth's kid and the others are inside you can come in, no whining if your outside though ok?" H went on, however Jaster was never a whiner. Maybe behind closed doors he held grudges, but openly he knew his son would not complain. A trait Kallon found respectful to a extent.

Later, both Kallon and Jaster arrived at the hall. The greeting non-existant. "Are we first?" Jaster asked, looking over to his father. "Nah impossible, when are we ever first." He chuckled taking him up to the door. Without knocking he pushed the iron handle and watched the door glide open. Revealing the assembly within. "See?" Kallon pointed, Vasu & Bo Castor where already present. "Bo you bean, how was today's business." Kallon called aloud, not caring for the un-willing son who would much rather hid in the corner. However caught in the spotlight he had no choice, and weakly nodded his hello to Vasu as they approached. Vasu & Jaster where in simple view opposite, but it didn't stop Jaster finding Vasu a likeable man. However conversation was flat and dull between then, he considered him a friend like everyone else. I silent one at that.

Hi everyone, I've gotten permission to join. Here are my character sheets, and my first post should be coming shortly.

Parent Character Sheet:

Name: Ivan Petorskof
Spouse: None
Age: 69
Job: Owns and operates a local inn.
Appearance: Ivan has a smooth bald head, just showing the faintest hints of wrinkles. His eyes are a deep grey, highlighted by dirty greyis-white eyebrows. His chin, cheeks, and upper lip are covered in a thick beard of the same color of his eyebrows. A very large man, standing 6’6” with a muscular build, although age has begun to take its toll, giving him a weathered look. Typically wears a buttoned up white shirt with short sleeves, a pair of deep brown slacks, and tough brown leather boots.
Children: Only Derrik, who he found and adopted.
Family: None, but does have a pair of trained white tigers, Banglo and Bangla, and a trained hawk, Talon, from his days in the circus. (See history)
Family traits: Animal training, brute strength.
History: Ivan spent most of his early life as a performer for a traveling circus troupe. This has given him a ton of worldly experience, as well as many remarkable talents, most notably his abilities as a strong man and animal tamer. It was pure chance he met up with the other members of the council, joining in their fated battle with his beast friends. Afterwards, he was invited to live in the village, where he set up a small inn for travelers near the edge of the forest. The remainder of his life up to now has been passed relatively peacefully.
Weapon: A leather training whip
Abilities: Ivan has a great deal of experience from traveling across the world, as well as the aid of his trained animals, who help him in a fight.
Memories: Ivan is a very well traveled and outgoing person, meaning he should have plenty of memories with the others. Please fill free to create any you wish.
Personality: Ivan is best characterized as jovial. He is nearly always laughing his big, hardy laugh, or else telling stories for the entertainment of others. He can be a tad slow at times, possessing no formal education, and cannot read or do anything beyond basic arithmetic. However, he is very loyal and will risk his life for any worthy cause, even for total strangers.
Other: Banglo and Bangla are twin brother and sister, but are also reaching an old age. They are still powerful allies, but are very tame and content to lay in front of the fireplace, not particularly interested in fighting.

Main Character Sheet:

Name: Derrik Petorskof
Age: 20
Job: Gambler and Con Artist
Appearance: Tall but lanky, standing around 6’. Has dark brown hair, almost always unkept. Deep, ocean blue eyes. Wears a dull green cloak with very long, wide sleeves and a hood over a black shirt, dull brown pants, and boots.
Family: Found abandoned in the woods and adopted by Ivan at the age of three, has no knowledge of his previous parentage. Refers to Ivan as “Pops”.
Family Traits: agile and acrobatic, thanks to training from Ivan.
History: Derrik has always been something of a loner, never feeling quite at ease in the village. As soon as he was old enough, he began traveling, only returning to the village once every few months, seemingly to check up on Ivan, who he worries about.
Weapon: custom claw and chain. A weapon designed and built by Derrik, it is made of a leather gauntlet fortified with steel overlays. On top of the gauntlet are two razor sharp claws, around 1 foot in length, which can extend and retract, easily hidden in his sleeve. The claws can also detach from the gauntlet, connected by a chain which can extend nearly 10 yards. It is mechanically loaded, meaning it can be thrown and retrieved at will.
Abilities: Derrik is a very sly, clever person, often tricking the unwitting out of their coins. He also tends to come up with many gadgets and schemes, many of which backfire. He also is very acrobatic and quick.
Memories: One memorable backfire was Derrik’s childhood attempt to automate the local mill, causing it to explode. This gained him a great deal of mistrust within the village.
Personality: Unlike his adoptive father, Derrik tends to be very self-serving. He looks out for himself and himself alone, with the exclusion of Ivan. Derrik is a quick thinker and even quicker talker, preferring to think his way through things with as little effort and work as possible. Some consider him lazy, but easily bored would be more accurate. He soon tires of most activities, moving on to something else he finds interesting, hence why traveling and gambling suits his personality better.
Other: Derrik will develop into a better person throughout the story, as he grows to appreciate others more.
