I have found info about the GCN title, Doshin the Giant! OK, you can choose to play as a good giant to help the island, or the dark giant to destroy it (kinda like Sonic adventure 2. LOL.) You didn't have much info did you. Try surfing the net under a keyword like Doshin the Giant for GCN.

Doshin is a big yellow/red giant that's either good or evil. If you've seen the PC game Black & White, Think that but....cuter, and in more of an anime' GCN style

is this any good though? seems a bit to bizarre for me.....

I live in Sweden and have the game myself! Let me explain more than just "There is a yellow...". You alredy know that you got one evil and one good right? The aim of this game is to build (16 different) monuments by helping the villagers in the 4 villages. You can get these different monuments by combining the religions of the villagers. To make the giant grow stronger, u have to collect love/hate by teasing and hurting or helping the villagers. When you got a certain amount of Love/hate Icons that gather around the screen you will grow a little bit more, and enables different things you can do that you couldnt do before for an example: Carrying houses, and climbing mountains. it doesnt matter if you are good or bad, you will grow in the equal amount of height every time you grow a bit. The "Catch" is that you will get to your original size again next day (30 min per day), but don´t worry! The villagers houses and the monuments will still be there next day...
