What do you think is the best new faction? I think that the Nautalis Pirates are. I saw my brother playing as them, and he was doing really well(lots of early bases and ships, large amounts of territory).

Setting the aliens aside I'd have to say the Cybernetic Conciousnous. With the correct social engineering stats, you can get a *huge* efficiency bonus. The research bonus is also well appreciated.

I'd have to go with the Cybernetic Consciousness as well.
More rounded than the University, and with the right tweaks, your society and tech will outshine everyone else's. And once that happens you can pretty much leverage whatever you want. (One way or another) | |
