What I'm saying is if there is no possibility of a pokemon becoming a shiny when it evolves it is impossible to get a pokemon that doesnt appear in the wild/isn't given to you as a shiny.
e.g: Its impossible to get a shiny salamance because you have to evolve it from Bagon(you cant get it in the wild) ------------------- CLICK HERE THEN SIGN UP! ITS REALLY GOOD! TRUST ME! NO JUNK E-MAIL! SIGN UP AND THEN ENJOY!

No. Think of the shiny status as a genetic thing, not as appearance.

You can't just turn shiny all of a sudden. There is nothing in your genes that say, "When I turn 13, my eyes turn blue."
However, you CAN pass on the shiny status. As witnessed before, you can hatch a baby that's shiny. The shiny status is a rare sight, so it's kinda like a recessed gene. That's why you don't see it often.

Reenee, if I understood you correctly, you said you could "pass on" the shiny status. Actually, the parents of a Pokemon could both be shiny, and the baby still has the same chance of being shiny as any other pokemon.
Also, as Reenee said, you can't evolve a pokemon and think it'll turn shiny. You can only hatch or catch a shiny pokemon. ------------------- werd.

Yes, for example:
If you catch a shiny Slakoth and evolve it, it'll be a shiny Vigoroth and when that evolves, a shiny Slaking! ------------------- werd.

wow, so it's better to find a shiny prevolved form of pokemons instead of getting the evolved one...
I have no shiny pokemon, and I was kinda hoping my Latios being green when I first saw it, dang it. Hey, I have a red gyarados and a shiny tentacruel in Crystal~ lol but I guess it doesnt count. -------------------

re: When your pok'e'mon evolves is there any chance of it being a 'Shiney'? |
quote ReeneeThere is no such thing as a shiny gene and it can't be passed on. Being shiny has everything to do with YOUR trainer id number in comparison to your pokemon's iv's. Because of this, every pokemon has the same exact chance of being shiny, regardless of whether you hatched it or encountered it in the wild. Also, there is NO chance, thats zero chance that a pokemon will turn shiny when it evolves. If its not already shiny when you catch it or hatch it, it won't ever be shiny. One last myth to put to bed, just because you mate two shiny pokemon, your odds of getting a baby shiny do NOT increase. In these games pokemon do not pass along genes to their babies. Pokemon iv's are determined randomly. So no matter what, the chance of getting a shiny is exactly the same, no matter what situation and no matter what circumstances. ------------------- Joe Pokemon Pearl fc: 1160 6249 4341 http://www.ezyrewards.com/?id=211100 Want free video game stuff?? Actually, if your Poke'mon's shiny, won't its children have the same ID number making them shiny?

quote joesayssoUm, it wasn't fact. It's a certain way of thinking how the shiny process works. And I do recall that getting a shiny is 1/8000. quote tahnokAgain, it's totally random.
