the only way a fish escapes, is if you are too tired and are about to collapse. Things to prevent this are : 1. Make sure you are full in stamina when you get htere and 2. get some power berries to get your stamina bar bigger. A couple ways to get power berries are: there is one on the thirtieth floor of the mine. You can get another by fishing off of the boat dock. Lastly, you get one from your first animal that is 10 hearts. I know there are at least 2 more power berries out there, but these are the only ones I can think of. Hope I helped.
