Hype? |
|
With this game getting very close to the release date, it's surprising that no one has posted here...I mean, I even saw the pre-release box on the shelf at EB Games the other day...no one cares? I thought Stuntman 1 was a great game! First game ever that has realism, but lets you throw your car into a pile of other cars...

I guess not many people liked it. It looks like a great game though, it just probably needs more attention.

I have the game. This is much better than the original. Though the damage was better in the first Stuntman.

I agree. I think in the old one it was just ripped off Driver, which is a good thing. The handling was also from Driver.
They need to understand that in a driving/stunting game, damage is everything. You can fully trash your car, and you should be able to see it all in game. ------------------- | |

I am playing the demo right now. So far it is okay, nothing I would go nuts about, but all right.

Well I guess there's nothing exceptional about it. But the car physics are good, the stunts aren't too hard and aren't too easy, and there's always a lot of action.

One of the things I can already see that I don't like about it is the disparity between getting 3 or 4 stars and getting 5 stars for your run. I spent a couple of hours on three nice runs that the demo offers and was only able to get 5 stars in the first one. I found myself getting extremely bored trying to figure out driving lines, stunt timing, and how to execute the tricks in order to get that 5th star. It felt very tedious trying to find a way to keep the stunts going so your counter NEVER resets to zero. lol The way I see it is if I am bored by the end of the demo, this is not a game I should buy.

Well that makes sense, but it hooked me for a while. God knows why.

Well it's probably because it is kind of a fun concept for a game. You are the stunt driver, following the vehicle of the star and you have to execute all kinds of stunts, jumps, tricks, and crazy maneuvers so that the director can get the shoot right.
My biggest problem with the game is that it seemed very often difficult to discern exactly what the developers expect you to do to keep the chain going so your counter never resets to zero once you start that first stunt. Honestly, if it wasn't for that, I would probably buy the game right now. But I can already tell, by the time and energy it took to pick apart that first level, which I got 5 stars for, that there is a built in tedium to the process that doesn't appeal to me. ------------------- ![]() It's official. I thought it was more, the director wants you to finish and hit the stunts, while the 100% kinda aim is to string it together with drifts and hitting things like barrels and run-over-ables.

I know that. The problem I found was that it was too daunting to go through the entire run without your counter ever resetting to zero. I did the first one just to do it and got my 5 stars, but found it boring after that to spend all that time trying to figure out how to keep the stunts going and never have the counter reset.
