The missions are kinda hard dont you think?

I just bought this game for my son and He seems to always be asking me to help him with the mission and I am sitting ther playing them and i am saying to myself that these missions are kinda hard for a kid?!? Dont you guys think so??

A little hard! the missions are extremely hard! I even died about 10 times on the 3rd abcolocs mission:#

If you think that the missions are hard, just WAIT until (and if) you open up the 18 "Hard" Spidey Races by beating the first 30, which are Easy and Medium. Many or most of the Hard races are an absolute nightmare to get any medal in. The worst part about it is that the races would actually be fun if the game just game you MORE TIME to get medals. But even getting Bronze in these hard races (forget Silver or Gold!!!) requires hours and hours in most cases for EACH RACE! It is maddening that Activision would crimp you so much on time when the races would actually be FUN if they gave more of it.

As to the thread topic, i agree with Quark in my first playthrough I found some (not all!) of the missions to be a little boring. I think there is a difference between difficulty that requires a little more of a learning curve and difficulty that is just mind numbingly tedious. I will use the combat tours as an example. At first I thought they just sucked! Then Stinger taught me how to use the combo's more effectively, and WHAMMO! I got gold medals in all of the Combat Tours because my skills were better.


NOT ALL of this game is ANYWHERE NEAR as bad as the reviews suggest, and most of it is actually cool. But a lot of those boss fights are just cheap and what I like to call "artificially difficult," meaning that difficulty seems to have been thrown in to try to extend the play time.

The real irony is that this is NOT a game that suffers from a need to add artificial difficulty into it to add more hours of gameplay and replay value. Why? Because developers tend to add artificial difficulty into short games so people feel as if they are getting their money's worth. With Spidey 3, there is so much to do that if Activision dialed down the difficulty of some (NOT ALL) of the activities and bosses, it would still take you MONTHS to get 100% completion, and you would feel like you wanted to do it more and again! So when you add artificial difficulty into a game this long and exceptionally diverse, it stinks to high heaven and overwhelms the gamer.

Most of the concepts I found to be absolutely AMAZING, and it is only the "cheap difficulty" that gets in the way.

Example: Kingpin is all but completely invulnerable and about the only thing you can do is hide from him and dodge his attacks, then hit him once, them run like a little bitch. Try to hit him more than once, and you will get your ass handed to you. So just on this one boss, I remember spending almost an hour. Oh and I am not talking about an hour with a ton of fails, I am talking about AN HOUR on my passing run! Guarding the 3rd Lizard canister is equally maddening and stupid, and the ONLY REASON I even passed it was because I discovered a glitch with one of the mega attacks that allowed me to get by easily.

Too many of the bosses are like this, but overall this game (in my opinion at least) was underrated. It got mostly 6's out of ten, but I think it it is actually closer to about an 8/10
