College Teaches via Computer Game

While video games can be actually used as a tool for teaching, this is no easy task to do. We can't expect to implement this new way of teaching in every school and for every subject. It's quite an interesting article though.

I think involving new technology and trying to make learning fun is a good thing. After all, looking at video games, not as evil objects that turn kids into mass murderers, but as a form of media that can be used for teaching is a great step forward, for teenage gamers if not teaching.

Also Metal Gear Solid 3 focuses on the Cold War. Alot of the game is made up but there are also alot of interesting facts in that game.

A question somewhat related to this:
According to some studies reading, speaking, writing and hearing another language (that you, of course, understand and know how to speak, read and write) stimulates the brain a lot, and it is highly recommended to improve the many brain functions. If this is true, that means every time I play a videogame (all of them are in english) my brain is being stimulated because of the fact that it is in another language, this means that games can be useful in certain aspects, I know that the game isn't teaching something that way, but hey it is surely stimulating the brain and helping to improve my English.

Do you consider this true or not?

Videogames may not be books, but if with books you refer educational books, I believe games can have some educational content that while not completely explicit will drive the player into learning certain thing, unfortunately there isn't a way to do this with all kinds of things, like math for example, how are you supposed to introduce math to a game without making it an explicit educational game? Well if you analyze how RPGs work, you'll realize how much math you need to make those stat based battles work properly

That's an interesting article. Computer and video games also have a few advantages, and this teaching tool would make school and education more interesting for many students. Also, you don't have to worry about normal school problems, like crime, poor teachers, or disruptive students. I'd like to learn that way!
