Fútbol en Latinoamérica

I'm making this thread in order to discuss Latin American's Football, and how your favourite team is going. I thought about this because Football (soccer, for some people) is the most popular sport in the world, and by far, the most popular one in Latin America too.

Uruguay (my country) couldn't make it to the world cup, after playing against Australia for the last position (which we lost by penalties). Last sunday, the Uruguayan team played a friendly against North Ireland, and won 1-0; and at this exact moment, Uruguay is winning 1-0 to Romania (sp?).

The Uruguayan team I support - Nacional - is in the first position of the Uruguayan league, and it looks like it's gonna win it.

So, how's your football team going in the league?, is your country in the world cup?... Any football fans around here?

Maybe, but who did you have to compete with for the place in the cup?... We had to compete with excellent teams like Argentina and Brazil...

BTW, Uruguay won 2-0 yesterday, on the friendly against Romania.

Out of all 5 friendly games in this year up until now, we won 4/5 games out of 5. The only game we lost was against Korea, 1-0 due to a mistake. Who cares, we won the other four. Here is the list.

According to you, this teams suck, right? It doesn't matter who they went up against, have faith on your team. Either way, if they would have won ( if they faced someone else ), they would have still been knocked out by brazil and who ever else beat them.


BTW, if you're going to type, you're best of if you make up your mind and type in one language, everyone here knows english and assuming they know spanish since they're in a hispanic forum.

What team? Mexico? I don't think that it sucks.

Oh, since you said 'This teams', instead of 'These teams', I thought you were talking about one single team... And thought it was Mexico.... Anyway, my mistake.

Those teams aren't shit at all, congratulations on winning against them... Seriously. Plus I'm glad that you won against Venezuela since when they won against us in Montevideo, they started calling that match 'The Centenariazo' (since it was played in the 'Centenario' stadium in uruguay), and they said it, like making fun of our 'Maracanazo' (named given to the final world cup match in 1950 that we won against Brazil in their 'Maracana' stadium)... Anyway, this thing really pissed me off, and now I officially hate Venezuela as a football team (as well as some others).

I usually write in both languages just in case a not native spanish speaker is curious on how to say something in spanish, or things like that.

So, if you are from Mexico, you may know about "El Loco Abreu" (his name is Sebastián Abreu). He's a uruguayan player, that is playing in Mexico (I think in PUMAS). He played in "Nacional" (my uruguayan football team) several years, and now he's doing great in Mexico... Do ya know about him?

El Loco Abreu, I feel so sorry for him. Such a good player, and he doesn't play for Pumas. He was off playing in Europe, and he returned for the Clausura 2006 de la Liga Mexican somewhere around February or March. He plays for Los Dorados de Sinaloa. The reason why I said I feel sorry for the guy is because the team Sinaloa decended from the Primera Division, meaning they're not in that league and went down to a lower league. I'm not to sure when he came to play for Sinaloa, but he got the most goals out of all the players from the Mexican league for the Clausura 2006.

Anyways, that's so cool, did he play with you or what was it that you were saying? Well, I'm pretty sure you've heard of Chivas Guadalajara, that's my team baby.

He is now part of the 'Monterrey' team, appearently... These are the mexican teams in which he have played:

I sure did NOT play with him... I just said he played on the team I support (Nacional) several years... In fact, I could not have an example of a case like this... He has let down offers from european countries (that can pay a lot more than Nacional, for sure), just to play with the team, many times... And almost everytime he comes back, we win the league...

Sure I know of Chivas Guadalajara... In the 'Copa Libertadores', you got to the 'Cuartos de Final', didn't you?

Since this thread is on football, why not link to one of the news links in the header? The article is about Brazil and it's skill at football.

I think it's sad when I see a mexican player go play for europe, I think any mexican player should stay withing the mexican league to help them come up in means of ranks. If I ever played, I know I would stick with the mexican league and would play since it's what I love to do. ( I actually do play soccer, and am now looking for a team to play with )


Yeah, Chivas made it to the Quarter Finals of the Copa Libertadores, we're up against Velez Sarsfield( equipo de argentina ) It's so cool to finally talk to a latino who knows his soccer and the teams I know. The soccer forum has many members who haven't heard of the teams withing the latino teams. Which is why this forum is cool, since many of you should know the teams since you're latinos.

You can't blame the players that go to europe... I mean, they earn more money there... And who doesn't like money?

Oh, yeah, that's because the soccer forum is mainly for people for england or whatever... We're discriminated because of being latin american people... .
