How did you learn English?

I have always been exposed to English. Since kindergarten, and even earlier. My cousins' dad is American, so when we went to their house and watched childish videos they were all in English.
In Kindergarten, our teachers taught us the basic words, like numbers, colors, etc.. Later things like "police-man", "firefighter", and so on.
Up to this point, my English was very good to understand it when people used it with me. But I couldn't use it with others. I had problems speaking it but I could understand it just fine when people talked to me in English.

Yes, videogames help. Since we don't have a "Nintendo of South America", all the games here are imported from the USA, so they are in English. When I learned to read, I played games and all of them were in English. It worked to increase my vocabulary, but I still couldn't use it well.

When I was in primary school up all the way to middle school, we took some subjects in English and others in Spanish. I have always been in bilingual schools but again they didn't help as much. We took English (duh), math, and natural sciences (yeah, basically "biology for dummies") in English. Since I had to write in English, I was able to not only understand it, but also write it. I still had a tough time speaking it though.

It was in eight grade when it got better. I started to post on Neo when I was 14 back then (2006). And well, my English wasn't as good as I though it was when I used it in school. When I started posting here, I had a hard time communicating with others. My English was broken as hell, and people constantly told me that I should stop using online translators when I really wasn't... Then others made fun of me, flamed me for my bad English, and so on. You learn a lot when people laugh at you because you can't write/speak in English properly.

Thanks to Neo I started thinking in English and now when I need to write or speak in English, it just comes naturally to me now. I don't have to translate things in my head to make it work. It just comes when I need it, and leaves when I don't need it. It's pretty nifty. I can also speak in English well enough to hide my accent.

I learned a nice chunk in school while still studying in the U.S.; the rest was with TV, movies, music and reading a lot of English books and interent sites. I'm still learning English day by day. Still in progress with my English skills .

At least yours is better than mine. When i made the review of growlanser 4 Wayfarer of time i realized (of critiques from Daveyd and CoarseDragon) that my english isnt as good as i tought (pense).

Time to take lessons of english i guess.

Claro eso seria genial. Los foros son otro medio de aprendisaje tambien.

Tal vez creando algún tema en la que los usuarios den criticas constructivas ha aquellos que no dominamos mucho el idioma.

Eso espero ya que me gustaria ir a pasear al extranjero y para eso se necesita Ingles.

No necesariamente necesitas hablar ingles por completo pero porlo menos poder defenderte. Eso es lo mas importante; mientras tantos puedes disfrutar muchas cosas.

Creo que puedo recuerdo que una vez vinieron a mi casa unos testigos de jehova americanos y pude tener una buena conversacion con ellos. No importa pasara mucho antes que pueda salir de mi pais.

Si seguro que pasare buen rato por aqui. pero en tu caso tenes mucho de que hablar, mientras que dificilmente encuentro temas de interes (En los foros de Growlanser es donde paso mas) ya que a puras penas tengo PS2 y los temas de ahora son ps3 wii 360 psp vita 3ds ds y yo no tengo ni uno solo
