	Log in to remove this sponsored message I'm extremely interested in learning spanish for the purposes of both writing and conversation. I don't intend on learning it on a high level where I could write essays or anything, but I'd really like to be able to carry out a casual conversation or read a simple webpage or document. What would you recommend I do to begin my learning? Taking a class isn't really an option because I'm enrolled in Latin and taking more than one foreign language course would simply be overwhelming for me. As far as exposure in real life to Spanish speaking people, my dad's girlfriend, whom I live with, is Hispanic. However, she was never really fully educated and she's not really well-versed in writing, she's only a fluent speaker. I can certainly use her for practice speaking as it is her first language after all, but seeing as I want to be able to write as well, I want to learn properly. If you have any questions about my learning style that you feel are relevant, fire away. Also, as for a place to practice the written portion of my studies, this forum seems like a good place to start. One thing I forgot to mention is that I took a Spanish class in middle school for one year so I know some of the fundamental things about it. Also, because I take Latin, I am very familiar with the concepts of word endings and the like that English seems to lack compared to Romantic languages. -------------------

	First be familiarized with verge conjuctions, use of articles, and objects of a sentece. Also, it seems like a common problem among many, but remember that we are a bit more specific when we talk about the genre of a subject (IE, "gato" is a male cat, "gata" is a female cat). -------------------

	Writing certain things here and waiting for feedback wouldn't be much of a problem. Since the forum is a bit lifeless, seeing a new post would be easier to spot out and quicker to answer to. -------------------

	Kjg, I remember a while back we talked about this. Of course I'm pretty sure you're aware that trying to speak it daily is a good way to grasp the language very easily. What could also help is trying to read in Spanish. It's actually very helpful and you should be able to recognize the different patterns that go about while you're reading the book or article. It's be even better if you could read it out loud so you can have sense of how some of the words feel when you try to say them. Of course, I highly recommend that you get someone that speaks the language fluently to help you out and coach you through.

	I am in the Spanish class, the best way to learn how to both speak and write is to take it step by step learn the basics first like greetings, how to say your name, learn the alphabet, learn your numbers and letters. Also learn the adjectives, and feminine and masculan words. Learn how to describe your self using verbs. Don't try to learn Speaking and then witting or vice~versa learn them at the same time because they will help you understand the language better. ------------------- [click on sig below for access to the secret Forum]
