I give Haar a 9

2-E would be much harder without him, and he is very helpful in that chapter where you have to be a pyromaniac.

If you give him nullify he doesn't have to worry about thunder anyway.

When Haar Starts out, these are his stats:

HP: 46
STR: 23
MAG: 2
SKL: 24
SPD: 20
LUC: 13
DEF: 23
RES: 7

These are his growths:

HP: 30
STR: 70
MAG: 5
SKL: 70
SPD: 30
LUC: 45
DEF: 65
RES: 20

As you can see, his speed growth is low. Even Micaiah's growth for speed is higher, at 35.

If you look at this link you'll see that everyone's speed growth is either equal to, or higher than his! Except for Sigrun, Brom, a handful of laguz and the Black Knight.

He starts of with an alright speed stat, but it's not increasing any time soon! If he can 2HKO things, that pretty cool, but not if he can't double them to get 2HKO in the first place!

Even all your slow mages like Soren have higher speed (35 growth rate). So his speed really is pretty bad. You can't just dismiss it.

Also, is RES is really low! It starts at 7! He might be able to take a lot of hits from sharp pointy objects, but magic can make quick work of him, especially thunder mages! (Unless you have Nullify).

Don't get me wrong, he is a great unit and has many uses, but his speed suffers, and you are better of in some cases using other units which aren't slow piles of crap which don't get owned by magic!

Honestly Haar's Res doesn't really matter, and his speed is more than sufficient, especially on NM.

Well, yeah. But that's the only resource they need.

Simon: Growths don't matter. It's his bases and the fact that he's a flier that does. So what if Soren has a 5% higher Spd growth? It means nothing when he's five levels of promotion, has 2 less points at base, and needs to be spoonfed kills just to reach a reasonable level to promote and still be a worse unit than Haar. Haar's low Res doesn't even matter because enemy sages are just not enemies that spawn here and there. And even then, they 3HKO them thanks to his very high HP. Only Thunder Sages 2HKO him. And then, like Smash said: What does it matter if he can't double? It's not like many units barring Swordmasters can. And even then, he still pulls more damage than they can. All he needs to be great Part 2's Speedwings and an early Crowning so he 1RKO everything at sight.

Obviously, I'll be GAAR a 10. Although I wish the 25 were allowed.

No unit is perfect. A perfect unit would be one that has infinite move, one rounds everything in the map with 100% certainty (at any range) and never dies with 100% certainty, and does it for every single chapter in the game, among a few other things. No unit ever reaches that. But Haar is the closest in this game.

If you're giving Haar a 9, you officially forfeit the right to give anyone else higher than an 8.

Depends on what stat screwage I need to fix. Failing that, fifth option, grab a Dracoshield. Always taking 2 less damage > a 4% chance of not taking damage on each attack.

There's more to it than that. Speed is the stat I respect the most in fire emblem, not only does it determine if you will attack TWICE (effectively doing double the damage) it also plays a huge role in avoid.

Haar's avoid is respectable, actually. Even though his Spd isn't insanely high, it's enough. If you look closely, alot of us are aware of Haar's 'flaws' or disadvantages. Yet, they are so minimal, no one really does care. From what you've said, I think the only one we could consider is his lack of Spd to double reliably. But Speedwings and Crown are your resolve. So why not just give it to him when he is thet best option for those? And so what if he isn't available at all chapters? No character at FE history is. And yet, there are quite a few that still get the 10 despite not being 100% perfect. Haar is the character with one of the best availabilities here, anyway.

...That logic is flawed. Even Ike can get hit by everything and still die. Why is that bad again? Is there any virtually invincible unit running around? As far as I know, there's only BK, and he didn't get the 10.
@Bold: Think about it this way. Is Mia honestly better just because she can dodge insanely better but loose to every other aspect to Haar? It means nothing when you don-t put use it other than just show off that you are untouchable.

Seriously... I don't understand why you would give him less than a 10... He breaks the game and, pretty much like everyone else said, just because he isn't perfect, doesn't mean he doesn't deserve a 10.

So... no one's better... but he doesn't get a perfect score. What the hell is the 10 there for, then? Is it just sitting up top so no one can get it? It's like saying you'll have red, white, and blue ribbons at a science fair and then saying "K, no blue ribbon for anyone, guy who I said got second place is the winner."
