Spoiler: 1. Info Section
1. Info Section The first thing you'll need to know is that this is my new FE Map RP. Suddenly I've had a change of mind and I've started liking this system again. So I wanted to give it a new try, and now I present you with my newest creation. Enjoy.
Etheril
Over four hundred years ago, the continent of Etheril had sunken into deepest despair. Eternal darkness descended on the world as the dreadful Shadows came and slaughtered everyone who stood in their path. Led by the King of Shadows, they stained and twisted the world beyond recognition, a wave of corruption moving across the land, feeding on the living, drawing them into darkness and slowly but surely turning them into Shadowkin, adding them to the ever-growing ranks of the Shadows.
But just when all hope was already lost, a bright light shone in the middle of the darkness. A Champion of Light appeared who rallied the last remaining humans. The Champion chose six people among his followers, granting them all mighty weapons and magic with the power to repel the Shadows. With the power of these weapons, he led his army of survivors into victory over the Shadows. After a decisive battle, the Champion and his six chosen warriors met the King of Shadows on the highest peak of the continent where the Shadows had constructed their stronghold.
After a long and desperate fight against the Shadow King, The Champion was finally able to seal away the Shadows inside a mystic stone with a strange rune carved to it. The Champion took the stone which was glowing red from the burning wrath of the King of Shadows, and placed it on a small pedastal, saying these words, "This stone is too dangerous to let it fall into human hands. If someone was to even come nearby it, the Shadows would get a chance to come back to this world. Therefore, I will stay here and forever guard the runestone. The fate of humankind is now in your hands, my chosen. Go, and rebuild the land."
When the chosen warriors were outside the stronghold of the Shadows, the Champion created a magic barrier around it, permanently blocking access to the now ruined fortification. The chosen then proceeded to fulfill the Champions wishes, each one them founding a new nation and leading it as well as they could.
Levare (Adjective: Levarian) The peaceful island nation of Levare had for long depended on its good relations with other countries to remain a free country. Levare was an idyllic agrarian society with no real leaders. Its people lived a happy life until the day when the country's ideal for a lack of any military organization finally backfired. Now its villages are being overrun by the Kregean forces, only a small resistance movement hindering its advance.
Although Levare lacks in military, the presence of magic is very strong on the island.
Kregea (Adjective: Kregean) Kregea is a land traditionally ruled by the elders of its many clans. In the last decades, however, one warrior king has risen and united the warring clans. The new king promised the the clansmen food, something that there's always a lack of in the harsh, barren environment of Kregea. This is the most commonly seen motive for Kregea's invasion of Levare, yet some claim it can't be the only reason, as Levareans used to be their closest trading partners and friends of many clans.
The Kregeans are a mostly nomadic people, feared for their highly skilled horseback archers and swordsmen who possess exceptional mobility and the ability to strike fast and hard. Their dreaded dark magic users, the shamans, also strike fear into their enemies' hearts.
Afate (Adjective: Afatian) Afate is the only nation on Etheril that has its ruler elected by the people. When the old monarch dies, his vassals will gather and select the new canditates for the new king among them. The canditates will then appeal to the people who will vote for the new ruler. This system has been in use ever since the founding of the country, used by the first king's successors as a method to avoid civil war, and has been mostly successful so far.
The country is famed for its elite cavalry that patrols the vast plains of Afate, and for the many outposts and castles built by its people.
Werace (Adjective: Weracian) A loose confederation of city states that govern themselves. The country flourishes through its active trading and relatively advanced technology. Werace is without question the most wealthy place on the continent, and although it is loose as a nation, diversity is its strength as many of the cities specialize in something, thus producing high quality goods and excellent specialist soldiers.
The best of the best are Werace's famed heavily armored foot knights and the deadly marksmen who support them.
Hrefas (Adjective: Hrefas) The land of the dragons, Hrefas, lies in the mountainous region of the continent. It follows the tradition of hereditary rule. Although mostly covered by cold mountains, Hrefas has several fertile valleys and is therefore not as poor as Kregea or Olerin. It is said that in the ancient past, long before the Shadows came, the land was inhabited by fire dragons. Now, only their smaller cousins, the wyverns, remain.
The Dragon Knights of Hrefas are one of the most elite forces on the continent. Trained from the youth to fight on a wyvern mount, they are rightfully held in awe.
Olerin (Adjective: Olerene) A theocratic state based on the Church of Lucina. The land lies in the cold and harsh northern part of the continent which was formerly inhabited by what the Church called "wildmen." Led by Lucina, the Olerenes took over the land as their new home, and converted the wildmen, adding them to their then few numbers.
Unique to the country are the pegasus knights who patrol its skies. The healing arts and light magic are also prominent in Olerin.
The Six Chosen Tisiphone, the Furious Swordmaster, retired to Levare island. She marched into battle wielding Jolthar, the Thunder Sword. She was a master of thunder magic, possessing the Thoron spell.
Loki, the Dark Warrior, was the founder of Kregea. He fought his battles wielding Zhartaran, the Bloodthirsty Axe. He was a master of dark magic, possessing the Ragnarok spell. The only one who could dominate the Shadows instead of being taken over by them.
Jarl, the Steadfast Horseman, was the founder of Afate. He rode into battle wielding Izgard, the Adamantine Lance. He was a master of earth magic, possessing the Terra spell.
Marduk, the Dragon Knight, was the founder of Hrefas. He flew into battle on his wyvern mount, wielding Tiamat, the Flame Spear. He was a master of fire magic, possessing the Inferno Spell.
Thalia, the Enchanting Bard, inspired Werace to its growth. She supported her allies with Eselafr, the Celestial Bow. She was a master of wind magic, possessing the Hurricane spell.
Lucina, the Holy Defender, was the founder of Olerin. She banished the shadows using Alathr, the Sword of Light. She was a master of light magic, possessing the Purgatory spell.
Spoiler: 2. Rules
2. Rules You all know the basics of FE games, so I'll only tell what's different. Essentially this is just a simplified version of the games, but there are some new things, too.
Veterans of my older map RPs may recognize that the mechanics I'm using in this are similar to those I had in my older map RPs. Indeed, this is the spiritual successor of the "Empire of Now and Forever," now with a better story, more sensible scale and polished mechanics.
2.1. Stats When you create your character, you have 15 points to distribute between these stats. You may not raise one stat by more than 8 points. The cap for all stats except HP is 30. The cap for HP is 60.
HP How much damage you can take before falling. Str 0.5 to the damage you deal with physical attacks. Mag 0.5 to the damage you deal with magic and to magic damage resistance. Skl 2 points to Hit and 0.5 to Critical. Spd 2 points to Avoid and 1 to Attack Speed. Lck 1 point to both Hit and Avoid, and 1 to critical hit evasion. Def 0.5 to physical damage resistance. Con Affects who can rescue who. Only characters with lower Con can be rescued.
Because there will be fractions, the actual damage done will always be rounded down. So if someone with 2 Str attacks someone with 1 Def with an Iron Sword (3 Mt,) he will deal 4 - 0.5 = 3.5 damage, which is rounded down to 3. If the attacker had had 3 Str, he would have done 4 damage. This is why odd numbers in strength and defense matter!
2.2. Armor and Mount When creating your character, choose the type of armor he or she will wear. Armor affects your character's defense and movement. If you take heavy armor, you'll be well-protected, but you will move slower.
You will also choose if your character has a mount. Pegasi and wyverns are only available to characters from their countries of origin. The downside of mounts is that you will start weaker in other stats.
None: No effect Horse: +2 Mov, -2 stat points, Slowed down in forests. Pegasus: +3 Mov, Flying, -4 stat points Wyvern: +2 Mov, Flying, -3 stat points
2.3. Weapon Skills You start with 1 point you can use to get one level at any weapon or type of magic. In addition to giving you access to stronger weapons, weapon skills affect your performance with the weapons. There are five levels for each weapon, starting from C and ending to *. Daggers don't require a skill to use.
C: +0 Hit. B: +5 Hit. A: +10 Hit. S: +15 Hit. The 'Master' rank. Allows you to use legendary weapons. *: +25 Hit. The 'Grandmaster' rank. Only gives an accuracy bonus.
2.4. Weapon Triangle Swords beat Axes, Axes beat Lances and Lances beat Swords. The bonus for having the advantageous weapon is +1 Mt and +15 Hit, while the penalty for having the disadvantageous weapon is -1 Mt and -15 Hit.
2.5. Terrain Terrain can give you a decisive advantage. Use it wisely. Flying units ignore the terrain (for both offense and defense, to clarify), except for the healing effect. Here's a table of the bonuses terrain gives.
River: -10 Avoid, 6 Mov to cross House/Village: +10 Avoid Ruins: +10 Avoid, +1 Def, 2 Mov to cross Forest: +20 Avoid, +1 Def, 2 Mov to cross Fort/Castle: +20 Avoid, +2 Def, Heals 3 HP per turn, 2 Mov to cross Mountain: +30 Avoid, +1 Def, 3 Mov to cross Peak: +40 Avoid, +2 Def, 4 Mov to cross, Impassable to most
2.6. Magic Unlike in the video games, you won't cast spells using tomes. You learn the spells from tomes - the tomes are consumed in progress. Spells can only be learned between chapters, not while in a battle. You can learn one spell multiple times, but that will also require multiple slots. Because you can only have 4 spells at a time, you can also forget the spells you have learned. If you forget a spell, you'll lose it and every rune you have infused in it forever.
You can't counter attack with magic and magic can't be countered. The uses of magic are restored when a battle ends.
2.7. Counter Attacks Like I just mentioned, you can't counter attack with magic. Neither can you counter magic. You can counter attack with all weapons against attacks with weapons, as long as the enemy is within range. If you have a bow equipped, and an enemy attacks you with a melee weapon, you will counter attack with your last-equipped melee weapon. Vice versa, if you have a melee weapon equipped and your enemy attacks you with a bow, you'll return fire with your last-equipped bow.
2.8. Thieves Thieves sacrifice their first weapon skill point (meaning they'll be stuck with daggers for a while) for a Skill called "Thievery," which allows them to: -Steal money from enemies -Steal items from enemies -Use lockpicks to open locks -See further in fog of war
2.9. Supports The combined level of supports can be 5 at best. The maximum support level is A (3.) Below are the support bonuses for each affinity per level. The bonus comes from both your affinity and the supported character's affinity.
2.10. Gaining experience We're using a simplified formula for this. Below is the formula for experience gained for attacking and counter attacking. It doesn't matter if you hit or not. Experience gained for kills is tripled. If you are promoted and the enemy isn't, subtract 5 Exp. If the enemy is promoted and you aren't, add 5 Exp.
Exp gained = 10 + Enemy level - Own level
Using healing magic gives you 15 Exp. Receiving or evading an enemy attack gives you 1 Exp.
2.11. Leveling Up and Promotion There are no random growths. Every time you level up, you gain 3 stat points to distribute. With the exception of HP, you may raise one stat only once. Every five levels, you also get one skill point which you can use to get better at using some weapon, or you can use it to access an entirely new class of weapons or magic (but you can only do this between chapters!) The maximum experience level you can get is 30.
The only way to promote in this RP is by using a rare Master Seal. Promotion will earn you 10 stat points and 1 weapon skill point you may use as you desire. Promoting will not reset your level, but think before promoting someone, as there will be a limited amount of Master Seals.
2.12. Runes If you're wondering about the tiny lists for weapons and magic, there's a reason for that. Soon enough you'll encounter special runes that can be infused with weapons or spells to give them unique powers. Each weapon/spell can be infused with up to 3 runes. Once the rune is infused with the weapon/spell, the effect is permanent and can't be removed. There will be no list of runes, as each one is unique. By the way, when you infuse your weapon or spell with its first rune, you may give it a new name!
2.13. Repairing You can and should repair your weapons. Not only it is less expensive than buying new ones, but you'll also keep the effects of the runes you have infused with them. Repairing will restore the weapon's uses to maximum, but will take away 20% of the initial maximum durability each time you repair the weapon. This means that the weapon can normally be repaired only 9 times. The cost of repairing is half the price of the weapon.
2.14. Conditions
Blind: -30 Hit. Poison: 4 damage taken per turn. Burning: 10 damage taken per turn. Corrupted: 2 damage taken per turn. Character can't be healed. Stunned: Character can't move or attack. Bosses are unaffected. Web: Character can't move or attack. Can be freed by others (takes whole turn and freed character can't move immediately.) Petrified: 0 AS, no chance to avoid enemy attacks. Character can't do anything. Bosses are unaffected.
2.15. General RPing Rules and other things to be aware of 1. If you die, you die. I might make an exception on some key characters of critical importance to the story, but even the so-called main characters will simply die. 2. Interact with other players. Don't think of this as a competition to create the most lethal killing machine of a character, but as a mutual struggle you all are in. To encourage this, I'll not make the chapters easy for you to win. 3. [s]The timespan of the RP will be many years in game time. Expect the characters you made in the beginning to be over 20 years older than then by the end of the game.[/s] There may be a sequel coming when we finish this. Yes, when, not if. Let's kick each other into motion if this ever slows down again. 4. The more you roleplay, the more important I will consider your character. The more important I consider your character, the more likely I am to grant you a boon. I mean things like support bonuses, runes, master seals and... legendary weapons. 5. Enjoy.

re: Fire Emblem: The Rune of Shadows [Map RP][T][Chapter 3 - Turn 1 | Chapter 2x - Turn 11]
1. Griez attacks the Spider from where he is with a Hand Axe, since we need to whittle that thing down wherever we can or use the Bridge Rune to trap it in the water or something, because that thing being alive and moving makes getting out a bit trickier for us. =\
2. New character time.

I'm curious as to how investing in weapons and magic with the same character will work out, personally, and I've never had a chance to try it before. Think I've got all her battle stats right. =\
(I know she's higher than the others, but I wanted the extra weapon skill point and I didn't intend for her to come in until after the chapter by which point the others should've caught up.)
re: Fire Emblem: The Rune of Shadows [Map RP][T][Chapter 3 - Turn 1 | Chapter 2x - Turn 11]
OOC: So we lost Nat...
Anyhow, can I equip one of the Runes now? And to ask others, which should I attach to this not very durable silver dagger? Your opinion matters! Also, if I move April to (13, 18), can the archer that can attack her from there kill her?
As for 2x, I spy with my little eye, stairs. I really don't want to risk going down there and triggering another "surprise", so what should I do? And don't worry Legatus, you did Ziggy damn well.
IC: Ziggy was still shocked. He couldn't imagine how he had missed the glow of the two pebbles he had placed in his pocket. But that made little difference, one of the two other guys that had come with them was dead. He may not even know which of the two it was, but death was never a pleasant thing to think about. And so he stood there, pebbles scattered at his feet, just staring and thinking. He didn't even care he had managed to rattle Katrine, nor did he make an effort to inform her he had found two weird pebbles. He just stood.

OOC: Well this is going to change things being the only PC on the top.....Here goes nothing.
IC: As they descended into the field a scream was heard as a Knight was killed by a Kregean Archer. The brothers gave each other a look and signaled their mounts to charge forward. With a snarl of anger they flew onward.
Hrothgar moves to 15,5 Halga moves to 16,5
The Raven Company Soldiers were broken after the loss of yet another man. This fight was becoming borderline impossible. At that point there was an earth shattering snarl from the sky. The men looked up to see two dragons charging towards them. This was it, they thought. There was no way they could live. A form on top of the dragon could be seen raising a bow. The end was near. The *snick* of the bow string as the arrow flew straight came, but the men were astounded to see the arrow heading towards a Kregean soldier behind them.
Somewhat true, but it's more a case of bad placement for sword users. Seriously, I couldn't believe my eyes when you did those suicidal moves, but my promise to myself prevented me from saying anything.
Oh, and I should probably mention this: 25. That's the top limit for characters created by all players combined. After that, there won't be any replacements.

Anyhow, can I equip one of the Runes now?
Yeah.

OOC: What can the Fighter do to me if im on the mountain? Or, better yet, can someone teach me how I can figure out. Oh hey and you should either change my Iron lance on Ricky or the Iron lance in the shop. Ricky will equip his Iron Lance. Tomerez will attack the fighter at (11,19)

OOC: Alright, so I'm finally going to get my own character involved in this. Just tell me to fix anything if it's inaccurate.
BIC:
It's time, he said to himself, packing a knapsack with some vital items. He had always loved his bread, and he had trouble storing the amount of loaves he would need to survive his journey. Along with healing solutions, practical first aid equipment, a sleeping bag, his holy robes & a spare change of clothes, there was quite a bit of gear to be carried by the young traveler. He packed by his loneseome. His father was a key figure in his church, & was the one to exile him from it for questioning the Gods.
"But what if- "No! You speak blasphemy, Mithos" his father said scornfully. "This church is nothing but corruption & lies!" His father, along with the other high priests gasped at Mithos' insolence. "Mithos, I hereby exile you from this church & disown you as my son. Go! Live your life unguided by the Gods!"
It had happened only but a few days ago, & Mithos was hasty to make his leave. His mother likely would have opposed his going but she was seriously ill & bedridden. She mostly slept and when she was awake she seemed to be lost, as if she forgot what reality was.
The morning sun peered through the window causing the young man to try and block it as he readjusted to the surge of light. He zipped, strapped & buttoned everything on his large pack and slung it onto his back. It was a large knapsack, good for traveling. He was en route for Levare Island, not a land farthest away from home, but also a land he had known from his studies in school as being a simple, peaceful place, without all the wretched ties to religion. He'd rather no real leader than one he could not see.
He propped up the hood on his long brown cloak to give the apparance of a traveler. He did not want to look like some wandering preist on a pilgrimage. Bandits would be all the more inclined to assault him then. Masqueraded as a nomad, he felt a bit safer, & quite frankly, he was.
He opened the door from his cottage & peered back, taking one last look at the home he grew up in, for he knew he'd never be back. He sighed, closing the door behind him, & began walking to the Southeast, heading to Levare Island.
---
That was six months ago. He spent those six months in silence, sleeping on the harsh ground, or in a muddy patch, or even alongside mountains in unknown caves. After his rough journey, he had finally arrived. He had stealthily taken a small dinghy to the island & crept up on the shore as furtively as an alligator would, emerging from the murky depths. It was not too far after landing & walking ashore that he heard the sound of battle. He hastily ran to the action.
From afar, he saw but a few soldiers fighting against a massive army. The large group of soldiers wore the colors of Kregea, whilst the smaller group appeared to be more like a militia than an army, a small ragtag group of characters. Such odds were extremely unfavorable, but he saw the way they fought and was inspired to join them. He removed his hood that he had worn for so long & hastily put on his holy robes. Although he had been cast out by the church, they could not berid him of his ability to use the light and heal companions. As he ran up to the battlefield, he saw two men mounted atop wyverns, who also appeared to have just arrived. He snuck inbetween them, as they too were going to help out the small force. Healing staff in hand, Mithos was ready for battle.
OOC: Should I level up Mithos some? He's only level one, & is probably going to get killed pretty easily unless I can give him some more stat points.

OOC: What can the Fighter do to me if im on the mountain? Or, better yet, can someone teach me how I can figure out.
Spoiler: This is how you do it
This is the fighter's attack: Iron Axe: 10 Mt, 85 Hit, 3 Avoid, 3.5 Crit, 1 Crit Avoid, 1 AS, 1 Def, 0.5 Res.
These are the weapons available to Ricky: Javelin (20/20): 7 Mt, 62 Hit, 1 Avoid, 1.5 Crit, 1 Crit Avoid, 0 AS, 7 Def, 0 Res. Iron Lance (119/120): 7 Mt, 77 Hit, 3 Avoid, 1.5 Crit, 1 Crit Avoid, 1 AS, 7 Def, 0 Res.
Essentially you just compare these and add necessary modifiers. Damage is Mt - Def OR Res, chance to hit is Hit - Avoid, critical hit rate is Crit - Crit Avoid. In this case, the 'necessary modifiers are the mountain and the WTA. Well get this table in this example.
(14,16)Kregean Fighter, Lvl 4, Iron Axe VS (14,15)Ricky, Lvl 4, Javelin
HP Dmg Acc Crt Modifiers Kregean 21/21 3 x1 46% 2% WTA Ricky 16/16 5 x1 59% 0% WTD, Mountain

Yeah, I was about to suggest that. Nice post by the way.
