Reekfish and Snowpeak

So I now have the bait to catch reekfish and I've caught one more than once, but Midna keeps saying "have a look at the reekfish maybe it'll give you a clue about the monster at snowpeak" or something to that effect. I know what the reekfish gives me, is that what the monster goes after? I'm trying to "come up with a plan" as Ashei says before going into snowpeak. So after I've had enough of catching reekfish to show Midna that I am looking at the thing, I make my way to snowpeak. But when I go towards snow peak and cross the ice floats and go into the blizzard, eventually the scene changes and takes me to the beginning of the ice floats. It's like I'm in some sort of loop. What are you supposed to do?

Yes, just smell the reekfish and you can learn the scent now just follow the smell and you'll be able to go through the blizzard without difficulty ...
