It's great that vf5 is coming out in spring of 2007 but i think they should wait. Mainly because tekken could not copy virtual fighter new system. I am feed up with tekken taking stuff from vf and people think tekken had it first. I am a huge fan of vf and sega should wait till namco relases there game.

Im not really that much of a tekken fan, i'd only rent a tekken game, whereas with virtua fighter, it is worth purchasing.

They are different games, VF concentrates on the intricate details of real fighting, Tekken is more arcadey. Both are great though.

Considering how much better VF4 was than Tekken 4 I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Tekken has absolutely nothing over virtua fighter, maybe a few dabs of more humor in it (fighting panda and tree-trunk) and that's it.

Anyone who thinks Namco did the ranking and customization systems first is an idiot and probably a scrub who'll give up on VF because it's too hard (much like my sis). I wouldn't be too mindful.

Tekken 6 isn't scheduled to be released until 2008, so that would be a long-ass time just to prove something that most hardcore gamers should already know.

well tekken 6 sucks i can tell you this so don't worry but tekken5?was better than any vf game but the vf5 game sounds kool!

To be honest I've always preferred Tekken. I just prefer the fighting in Tekken then in VF. Don't get me wrong, I do see the fun in VF but I just prefer the fighting in Tekken. Why?? Well to me it makes more sense to have each button assigned to a different limb. It just feels right.
Also to me the animation feels smoother in Tekken. The moves in VF seem more forced and too fast to even see what happened sometimes.

Don't get me wrong VF is still a brilliant game. I just thought I'd defend Tekken a bit as I noticed it was getting quite a beating with no one around to defend it.
Maybe it's because I've been playing Tekken since the first. Tekken was the first game I ever owned on a Playstation. Granted the characters like Kuma, Roger and Mokujin are a joke but overal Tekken is an excellent game.

As someone already said though Tekken 6 is a long way off so I'll be getting VF this weekend to keep me going.

well maybe tekken6 will be better than what i've heard but my fav characters seem to be missing from this one so...

tekken is more versatile in fighting styles and strategy and has better graphics making it better for arcades and tournies.

if you don't play competitively with real players and don't care as much for the gameplay, virtua fighter has better single player modes, but tekken has more badass characters and a better story.

I totally agree with Mnmfan here,
Virtua Fighter is a great series, but Tekken is still better, i just enjoy it more, there are much more characters, much more stages, more realistic gameplay.
In Virtua Fighter it looks like they give all their energy just to walk, its so slow and unfree, i see it less realstic, though i really like Virtua Fighter 4, i think Tekken 5 owns it, not that big of an ownage but it does.

You all have your good points there and both are a great series and are different enough to make it easier to buy both, so I will I think.
