Despite Capcom claiming that Resident Evil 5 was not redesigned after Racism claims, it seems they have now bowed under pressure and decided to add more white characters to the game. It is especially noticeable that the racism claims got to them, as the game is set in an area of Africa where it wouldn't be likely to see white villagers.

It's rather interesting that Capcom have decided to change the game just because of those racism claims. It'll be interesting to see how they tackle it ... especially since white people aren't exactly common in Africa (barring South Africa, that is).

I was wondering after watching this, why the hell they didn't set the game in South Africa where there is a Black, White and Mixed Race population. The hint from CVX didn't specify the part of Africa. Screw the whole volcanism connection, not many people are going to know that volcanism is most often associated with tectonic activity; in Africa, the Great Rift Valley.

This entire issue would have been avoided.

I'm sure I came across an article regarding Capcom's refusal to specify the location on grounds of racism/discrimination claims etc., I've been looking for it, because I knew someone'd bring up 'Kijuju'.

It makes absolute sense, I'd like to agree and say that Capcom slipped up, but then I think to myself, did Raccoon City, or Rockfort Island exist?

Either way, my point still stands, this sort of thing should have been foreseen by Capcom and the issue avoided from the beginning.

Well the very first commercial never showed the ethnicity of the zombies and then in the second one there were a couple of spaniards similar to the ones in RE4 and also a couple of whites.

That was WAAAAYYYYY before any racism complaints. I'm guessing that they never added any more white people this is just someone saying they did cuz the new trailer featured much more.

I'm guessing that capcom just showed more footage of white people because they wanted to stop this but I think that the white people were there all along.

anyway's if they are adding any more to this game it's certainly creatures rather than more human/zombie types....unless someone says that this game is racist against Monsters aswell .....sad thing is, this might actually happen

RE is racist to zombies! lol jk. I'm not sure about that. Who wants to protect the undead when they want to eat the living? But I'm sure Capcom had Caucasian people from the start, just failed to show the right parts of gameplay. Besides, if you look closely, you can see a white man in one scene. At least, he looks white. So I'm betting that Capcom just showed gameplay in the early stages of the game, where white men may or may not have been present.
