Control Scheme |

I got the game today (no console yet) and was looking at the control scheme. It appears that Dual Analog is now the only choice. That's fine, as I probably should take the time to learn dual analog anyways. But just out of curiosity, can you manually adjust the controls to go back to the old style? Is it even possible anymore, with quick boost and all the new features?
I'm talking specifically about the PS3 version of the game, though any information is obviously helpful. ------------------- I work to keep my aim true, I long to paint your skies blue. With the new functionality in the game, you can't go back to the older control methods. If felt awkward at first, but you get used to it quickly enough.

I figured that as much. Under the old control scheme there would be no button to attach to the quick boost, so the whole thing falls apart. The old methods are awkward anyways; the trouble is that it's all I know.
I'll just put in Last Raven and start learning on the Dual Analog. I can configure everything exactly the same (except for the quick boost, obviously) and learn that way. ------------------- I work to keep my aim true, I long to paint your skies blue. Thats what I did JG. Played Last Raven with dual analog a few weeks before I even got AC4. It wasnt the same layout but it helped get the feeling down I suppose.
I found that I adapted to the new controls in 4 pretty quickly though once I started playing. They go much better with the fast pace of the game. The only draw back, is that the lock on selector to change from auto to manual (think old school rockets kind of manual) is located on one of the analog sticks. Thus over the coarse of intense manuvers, you tend to press it a few times. So, I ended up switching it with one of the lesser used buttons. Other than that its set up rather well IMO. It has a VR training mode, so you can go in there and fool around with some enemies too before you start playing the actual game. -------------------

Just customize your armored core 4 controls to your liking. its what i did, because it makes more since to use the left and right triggers as the fire weapon buttons.http://www.neoseeker.com/forums/index.php?fn=post_reply&t=1043874#

Anyway, congratulations, you just replied to a year old question. I imagine the person asking it has probably found a solution to the problem by now. Just to stay on topic, yes you can change your control scheme. Very easily. Infact, I map several of the more cumbersome buttons to other unused ones for better preformance. Also, the old controls are seriously lacking for a game of this caliber. The pace is just too fast. I dunno' what anybody else uses, but I go for dual analog B type (on FA anyway). It may have been standard on 4. I can't remember, I haven't played AC4 in awhile. -------------------

Replying to an old thread:
:3 My scheme is completely custom, I can't let Sega tell me how a play a game. If I did, i'd probably end up upside down and inside out, with an empty wallet to boot. My shizzle: Movement - - - - - - - - Movement- left stick Aiming- right stick Boost- L1 Quickboost- L3 Overboost- Triangle Weapons - - - - - - - - Right arm- R2 Change right- Circle Left arm- L2 Change right- Square Shoulder munitions- X (rarely use this) Targeting- - - - - - Lock on - R1 Reset view - R3 (never use this) It's more of an action setup, works well if you're a fast paced player, or carry weapons that fire like mad and don't require you to sit stationary for too long. Run and gun, if you will, but works equally well for the full mobile ninja, that carries two laser blades and generator hooked to nitro and PCP. Just make you turn off auto-switch weapons. That thing SUCKS for this kind of setup. ------------------- ![]() Imported Gundam: Battlefield Record UC:0081 (PS3) | |
