news Rumor: Final Fantasy Versus XIII canceled

While it certianly had promise, I can't say this rumor surprised me. A pity I can't bring myself to be disappointed by anything from Square any longer.

I really hope this is their crazy way of calling it Final Fantasy 15 now.

Next to the near confirmation of XIII-3 today, this is pretty amusing.

Versus can't be XV, it doesn't fit the Main Series Formula Square's internal teams have. Mainly because it's an action RPG.

Ouch! 6 years worth is a lot of budget to get no return on. They may be forced to incorporate some of what's already been done in a future title just to soften the blow on their accounts.

Does this mean the KH team is now free to work on...kingdom hearts 3? Supposedly Dream Drop Distance practically confirms the next game to be 3. Also isn't FF15 an MMORPG or was that 14?

Pretty sure 14 was the MMORPG.

Pretty sure this isn't true. Square has made stupid decisions in the past, but I'm pretty sure they aren't stupid enough to can a project they've already invested a ton of money into.

We can leave that to Activision.... and Capcom. But if this were true... goddamn, the rage will be enough to ignite World War III and will make Mega Man Legends 3 cancellation look like a G-rated affair.
