Final Fantasy 13 Multi Platform? |
quoteI copied this off my website to save time, but basically the white engine that powers FF13 is being made to be multi platform friendly.......i hope to god FF13 doesn't go over to Xbox 360! -------------------

If they did that i'd be really mad! The final fantasy numbered series have been playstation since 7 on PSX. Long tradition and its one of the best game series to be Playstation only. What may happen is they'll do something like Agito (the idea) where it's kinda a supplementary game to the actual numbered series...but i mean i think they should at least release it for both PS3 and X360 if they even do that at ALL.

I thought I read somewhere that the Xbox 360 couldn't sustain the White Engine, now it can?

To be honest, it wouldn't really bother me. If Squeenix think they will get more money by releasing it on multiple platforms, then good for them.

You're making it sound like they're going to completely drop the PS3 version altogether. Square Enix is not that crazy. Besides, the company is third party, not second or first, meaning they can make games for whoever they please.

I think it's a smart move for the company. It opens the series up to a wider market, meaning (eventually, it may not happen overnight) more revenue for Squeenix, meaning better funding for the games that you, the fans, want. How can you possibly argue with that?

Why would they? Microsoft's XBOXs fan base isn't exactly the kind that enjoys rpgs, atleast the most of them. Besides, the relationship between Square and Microsoft is next to non existent. As far as Ive heard they still kinda hold a grudge towards them since they "stole" their member. And in Japan XBOX is still very frowned upon, even thought its abit better since Blue Dragon. So I strongly doubt that Squeenix will make a FF for it in the near future. Nintendo, on the other hand, is most likely getting more Final Fantasies this generation. ------------------- ![]() Don't eat my rose, silly sheep.

Then, like I said, it's a wider market, both for Squeenix AND the 360. I mean, I don't LIKE the 360, but I'm not completely biased against it. It will pave the way for a more rounded console and FF series. It's not like they're going to abandon the PS3 all together.

quote XtrordinaryDon't talk such twaddle. I've been playing final fantasy since it's origins, i still see it more of a Nintendo franchise than a Sony one. I own a 360 because i refuse to pay more than double for a decent package for the PS3. It has nothing to do what type of game i like. Have you noticed how many games recently have gone from 'exclusive' to 'multiplatform'....? It's a trend that is good for the consumer(us) and the Developer. The only people who are missing out is Sony and Microsoft. But more competent compitition means the consumer wins again.

No need to be condescending.
As far as FFs going multiplatform it won't hurt me at all and might bring more new fans into the fold, so I see no problem with it. The more people buy the game, the more money SE makes and can put into making more and better games in the future. I was unaware that the White Engine was purposefully made to be multiplatform, but I think that is brilliant business thinking. Instead of wasting cash trying to port your game to other platforms after the fact - draining money out of the company that could go towards NEW games - they are already to make the jump to 360, PC, whatever...... ------------------- ![]() This Post Needs More Zazz.

quote DaisyI wasn't trying to be condecending, for that part. Apologies if it came across that way. I agree fully with what you say. I never understand why people get so upset at games becoming multiplatform? I could understand if it was going to be 360 or PS3 only getting irritated, as you may miss out. More money to SE means more money going to development on future games. Without competition in the market place we'd still be playing Pong.

It doesn't bother me at all I have a 360 and I'm getting the ps3 tonight, but I'm a huge final fantasy fan yet at the moment if I could only have one next gen console it'd be the xbox 360 no doubt, I really don't believe that xbox 360 fans dislike the rpg genre at all and personally they are my favourite genre. There really are no disadvantages I can see of it going multiplatform, it means more sales for square and it increases the fan base of the game.

quote JimmyLadMost of the time it's because they either are a huge fan of the system it is on and the other part of the time there is a weird feeling of 'not wanting to share'. It's an odd phenomenon, but I do believe that is usually at the root of why people get upset. I was even told once that I "wasn't a true FF fan" because the first time I played FFVII I played it on PC, not PSOne. quote Gary15*is teh jealous* This message was edited by daisy on Mar 22 2007. ------------------- ![]() This Post Needs More Zazz.

quoteThat's crazy, some people take fanboyism way too far It's kinda funny actually I've always been the one saying how bad the ps3s choice of games are and how pricey it is, yet I still decided to buy one and I got invited to a launch party tonight -------------------

One last thing, anyone reckon that MGS4 will end up multiplatform? I know this is slightly off topic, but nothing seems to be platform exclusive these days....
