Do I go straight to oreba and come back or do I persist and try and level??? I am currently using leader fang (com/sent/sab) light (rav/com/med) and hope (rav/med/syn) I can only handle the little wolf type things, all levels before I have owned everyone in my path!! I would suggest stay in Archyllt Steppe for a while before moving on to Oerba. My party consists of Sazh, Fang and Vanille. This setup enables Fang to be outstanding commando as Sazh buff her with Bravery and En-spell while Vanille debuff the enemy with Deprotect + Imperial.

Sazh, Vanille, Fang: (Against Jellies)
SYN SAB SEN (starter - once you buffed Fang, move to other paradigm)
RAV SAB COM (in case the enemy still havent debuffed)
RAV RAV COM (eliminator paradigm)
SYN MED SEN (back-up paradigm when in danger)

SYN SAB SAB (Against Lone Behemoth)
COM RAV COM


Try fighting the Jellies in AS, there is one area manifest with all those jellies and quite foggy too. Your goal is to get enough CP for additional accessory slot / ATB charge for each character. Once achieved, you can actually try pre-emptive strike a lone Behemoth King not far from the AS entrance.

Behemoth King yield 4000 CP per fight and killable due to high stagger point. Try to get at least 1 primary role filled up entirely for the party. As for me, i maximized Fang's Commando, Sazh's Synergist and Vanille's Saboteur. Once done, you can move on to another infamous spot; Behemoth King and Megistethorian.

You're guaranteed with PS in the beginning. So, work by eliminate Behemoth King first and then Megistethorian. You'll earn 6400 CP per fight here. So this place should be final milestone to maximize all the current stage of primary role.

As for mission, the most important mission you should participate is Bituitus and Mushushu. (sry, forgot the mission number). Anyway, that will be a later progress. Your main objective is to get all primary role up-to-date. Don't forget to get STR / MAG accessory too.

Hecatoncheir is easy IMO...you just need to fill the gestalt gauge ASAP.

In my case, i just shove all physical resistance acessory to Fang and make her full-time SEN.

Vanille will be responsible for debuff and gestalt fill-up. Just inflict Imperial and cast different low-level element spells in queue. ATB Refresher trick will be handy here.

This thread is a little old, but I'll still give you advice. I'm pretty sure once you get there you'll find a Cie'th stone, which basically gives you these miniboss/boss fighting missions. They arent that exciting (and you can only do through 17 I think before getting to Oerba), but they give good CP, and can actually get rid of the need to grind for CP completely.
Since about 80% of the people who play get to this point and think they can just own everything, your not really alone at getting stuck. Just don't try to take down the (Adamantoise I think? The gigantic turtle-like things) yet, because until you get to about the Oerba point or later (at one point before end boss you have option to go back to Pulse if you need levels/doing missions), they can easily insta-kill your entire party in one attack, and they have massive HP.
You are using the "best" party in the game though (even though most play as lightning). They are just really balanced and make a good powerhouse team.
