Is this game really THAT good?

I'm a huge fan of the Final Fantasy games. Don't get me wrong, the game is beautiful, I played quite a bit into it. But it just doesn't catch me. I think the Eidoleons are too transformer'ish, and the the way of upgrading your characters doesn't feel right, because personally I almost always found myself just buying everything I could in the Crystarium, not having to chose between 2 different things.

I might be wrong on both subjects, but these 2 are really what have been bothering me throughout the game so far, are things going to change? - Should I give the game a chance? - Anyone feeling the same way about it?

The game is definately worth a chance. Eidolons are actually pretty fun when you figure how to use them well. I didn't like the idea of them either but now I think they're a great mechanic of ff13 gameplay.

Hmm...another thread concerning depreciation...i understands it's within player's discretion to judge whether it's good or bad game and there's nothing wrong with it but isn't this a looping discussion / thread that we had gone through in the past?

Regarding about Eidolons, i couldn't agree more with the fact they downgraded the concept of summons. Odin being a horse...

Though...summons serve its purpose in Oretoise battle and a great help in confronting Long Gui.

On the growth system, all FFs I've played were the same in this aspect, except FF9.

I'm fully aware of it, Garnet. My point is many people have been questions the same curiosity. I'm not sure about other players but i definitely enjoys it and that's my point of view.

I have no complaints about crystarium, it's just that we can't play around with it like Sphere Grid in FFX. Ability constraint is good but it would be better if we can upgrade those status nodes or completely alter it.

There have been many forums on this topic! And I say what I always have, I love this game! Yes its different, but every ff game is different! I'm on my 2nd playthrough now getting ready for 13-2! I personally think this is one of the most beautiful games I have ever played, the story is great and I like most of the characters! I also like the battle system for the nost part! I wasn't sure about this game until I got to chapter 9 or 10. So it takes awhile but after u play it n beat it I think u appreciate it. The best part is pulse n I'm excited for 13-2 because I'm hoping whatever was annoying about 13 they fixed in the sequel. U have 2 admit the story and the world of coccon n pulse r intriguing!?
