What characters do you use? Static party?

The guidebook says to use Light Hope and Fang, been reading through the forums and a lot of people seem to be inclined that way too. For me i can't imagine using 3 static characters. I change characters all the time(kinda annoying to mess with the paradigm so much though)for different situations. Need a heavy tank: Snow. Need a good offense on a boss with loads of HP Sazh's offensive buffs and Vanille's Deprotect/Deshell/Imperil debuffs. Need more defense in the party Hope etc. Anyway i just wanted to know how everyone plays, do you stick to 3 characters or not and if so what characters.

Sorry if there's another thread about this already, did a search and couldn't find it. Wanted to do a poll for the characters but not sure how to on this forum, if mods could please.

That's the one, thanks. Again a lot of people saying Light Hope Fang are the best party setup. Personally i don't see it, great simplistic defensive party set up but limited kill speed in comparison. I can only guess that having 2 meds and the best defensive syn and sab Hope and Fang lets you play more aggressively with paradigm choices. All this assuming secondary roles haven't played a part yet.

So i guess instead of asking who you use in this thread, just simply how many people play with static party members and how many people vary the characters you use often?

I switched the 3rd character up some, pretty much always using Lightning and Fang, but never ever used Hope (other than for about an hour, just to try him out, he seems ok if you want to play defensively, but was worthless for me) ever ever, and used Vanille most of the time (I would have used Sazh a lot more, but his attacks are irritatingly noisy and pretty much everything about him as a character irritated me, not that Vanille is much better, but Sazh's blitz made my dog bark). I only used Snow for a few missions where you need a sentinel, and on paths that battles were simple 5 second ones that just required all out mindless auto attacking.

I went very offensive though, prefer to end battles as quickly as possible.


I think getting the right accessories and switching them up as needed is a lot more important than switching up characters.

I like Vanille for Protectra and Shellra.

Sure they look "pretty" & let Fang use her strength. But they are only single target, and vulnerable to being disrupted if Fang is hit while runing towards the target. Strikes really arn't the best option for a ravager. Fang does get a 4th acccesory slightly before other characters, but that's her only "edge" worth having. And the other characters catch up shortly afterwards.
My favourite party is:
Vanille, Lightning & Sazh.
Vanille is the best Sabotaur (& hence party lead)
Sazh does the most damage.
And Lightning gets the best weapon (axis blade - tier2)

Prior to upgrading axis blade, I used Snow instead of Lightning.

That's clearly what's written in the players guide. Which conspicuosly ignores Sazh's virtues. He outguns Lightning & Fang combined.
And Lightnings faster weapons put her in 2nd place, certainly as the best all round character.
Fang's a distant 3rd.

I listened 2 the guide on this one light, fang, n hope. I did try others n I have 2 say I really believe they work the best 2gether! It kinda sux though bc I don't like always using the same characters! I think light n fang both rock they r great in their own way!
