Chapter 11 (some gameplay spoilers)

Please do NOT include any spoilers about upcomming boss fights or story points. Spoilers about missions are just fine.


Basically, I am low on funds and items thanks to weapon and accessory upgrades. I would like to do some item and CP grinding, but I'm not ready to take on the tricky-but-managable foes like the Behemoth Kings just yet (I know they're good for farming, but I just want to level up a little more).

My guide says the easy monsters are Gorgonopsids, Navidons, Goblins and Flans. It says the managable ones are Leyaks, Rangdas, Dire Flans and Behemoth Kings.
Which of those are best for farming (again, excluding Behemoth Kings)?

What parties are you guys using at this point? My guide says to stick to Hope, Light and Fang. I say bollocks to that. Which jobs do you suggest devoting CP to, and which Paradigms are most helpful? Are there any abilities that are absolute must-haves?

Also, which missions are low-risk at the moment? I would really like to stretch my legs in Gran Pluse and do a little, but I really have no idea where to go or what to do right now.

Suggestions, ideas, comments - anything would be helpful at this stage!

That sounds great, I want to do my CP farming close to saving points anyway... Before I fought Cid, I'd been farming the group of 10 slugs in the Ark since they respawn so easily. I'd made about 20,000CP and my cat stepped on the eject button and I lost all my work.

Do you have any tips on fighting them apart from trying to pre-empt? What characters and paradigms were you using?

Also, did you do any missions in this chapter?

I thought that the missions would be difficult, but the first one I blitzed with five stars. I would suggest trying to tackle them, at least for the items that they give you when successful.

I just used a party of Ravager / Saboteur / Saboteur and then once it had pretty much every affliction on it, I changed to Ravager / Ravager / Commando and it didn't even get the chance to use any of it's water magic.

I'm anticipating that other enemies will be more difficult... we'll see.

Note there is only 5 random treasures on Gran Pulse you can dig up via chocobo. Once you dig up 5 treasures if you want them to re spawn either leave the map or save and quit the game and reload.

The Op asked for a good grinding spot in Chap 11. I'm so tired of those saying the behemoth is a good way, it's not compared to the leyniks and ragdans! Those are the absolute best place to grind at this moment of the game.

Even without PS the fights takes 10-15 secs tops and gives 1700-3700 cp per fight!

I've really been looking forward to getting the Chocobos. Does anyone know if Chocobo rides count towards the 10,000 steps in Gran Pulse for the Pulsian Pioneer trophy?

All the information I'm getting is great, I'm interested to know what other people are doing. It's handy to know I should watch out for Mission 2, it's listed as being easy in the guide.

I'm basically finding the guide less and less useful. Now I feel I have a grasp on the game I want to do my own thing. I also think their strategies for the last two Eidolons (I don't have Vanille's yet, but I've read about it) have been pretty bogus and that makes me want to level up a lot in case their boss advice is bad too.

I am so not looking forward to the final boss of the chapter. I spoiled it for myself by finding out who it was, but I don't know any of the story surrounding it.

Fang - Light - Hope is the absolutely ultimate setup stats-wise.
So I would consider sticking to that.

Snow and sazh is pretty useless...

late game (70+hrs in) you'll forget who lightning is.

I use fang vanille and hope.

Ultrafast healing when needed. And biggest damage output attainable.
