Best Party Combination

I like using Lightning, Fang and Hope. They pretty much cover every paradigm you'll ever need. However, since everyone seems to be using this combo I may switch things up a bit once I sort out some Crystarium issues.

I like to open with Diversity (RAV/COM/MED), but for boss fights I always open with Evened Odds (MED/SAB/SYN), with Combat Clinic (MED/MED/SEN) as a panic paradigm.

I like Sabs so I'm going with Lightning/Sazh/Vanille at the moment. Med/Sab/Syn at the start of battle makes a huge difference and is a strategy I often use, which is why a certain boss fight in the 5th Ark was so difficult...

I only just got to the part where you can choose your own party.

For the time being, I've opted for Vanille, Lightning and Fang. After being hand held in party selection thus far, I don't want to be let out on my own and choose my own party. D:

If you like him better as a character why not take Fang out? But yes it's okay to take her out if you feel there's no need for her.

Since they all earn the points you wont be in any disadvantages as long as you continue to use your points. That said, I'd recommend Lightning in your team, since you really want to control a Commando or a Ravager, and she's good at both.

My personal team is Light/Fang/Hope, with my (most used) Paradigms being:

Com/Sen/Med
Rav/Com/Rav
Rav/Com/Med

Works wonders against most enemies.

Ive mainly used Light, Snow and Sazh.

Snow as leader because he is like a machine, compared to lightning who always dies when targeted by multiple attacks.

Sazh because haste and i just gave him the role of medic to increase healing when needed.

Lightning because shes my favourite character but also i mainly upgraded her stuff so she is the best equipped and strongest.

U require a saboteur, a synergist, sentinal with every party (if you not got one of each, you are going to get stuck very quickly after chapter 9)


The best party is Hope, Lighting, Fang because they perfectly cover all the class's and have the strongest stats to forfill there roles.

After I found this out i changed my mind about which party i would use. I want a challenge, i dont want to make it easy using the best characters so i tried to develop my own build.

The only other one that seems posible is Sazh, vanille, snow. This allows you to use all the essential paradigm's i.e.

Commando, Ravenger, Sentinal
Commando, Rav, Rav
Sab, Syn, Sen
Rav,Rav, Rav
Medic, Sentinal, Syn/Com

You need the first paradigm to be able to do damage and build the chain gauge in very tough fights.

The drawback is:

Snow: better as sentinal but worce then fang for other roles i.e. less strength/magic

Vanille: Less magic then hope but more HP

Sazh: 400 less magic power and stength at the end of the game then lighting and only 500 HP more than her. Also hes not a great commando and thats one of his key roles in harder fights.

Other then that you dont have Curse, slow spells that Fang gets.

I disagree. I completed the game from the point where you could choose your own party members to the end completely without a Sentinel and it wasn't that bad.

My party was Light/Sazh/Vanille, with a Paradigm setup based mostly around staggering and dealing damage during stagger:

Com/Syn/Sab
Com/Rav/Rav
Rav/Rav/Rav
Com/Com/Rav
Com/Rav/Med
Med/Syn/Med

It's probably not the most optimal setup, but oh well. I made it through just fine.
