re: TRIAL VERSION Thread of God help me, I will turn this train around!
I demand that the thread have the subtitle "You broke my anti-gravity."
I LIKE THE BATTLE TRANSITIONS, PERSONALLY.
Just to be clear, we are all watching esegk's live stream, right? I'll spoiler the link.
Spoiler: THERE ARE CUTSCENES, AND SO NATURALLY THERE ARE SPOILERS, RITE???

Spoiler: Shuyu's thoughts
Also, original trailer music as battle music? SHIT YES, MOTHER*bleep*ER. <3 ilu, Masashi Hamauzu.
Roflz. Maqui when everyone's taking guns. "Hai. Hai, douzo. Er, hai. Douzo."
The free movement in battle actually works.
I like how Old Lady dies, and Snow's all like "BAAAWWWWWWW, MUMMY~! NOT MY MUMMY, BUT STILL!"
"Lightning! Soliders! What do we do?" "*Whips out gunblade* *bleep* them up, man." "... Lolwut."
It really offers some perspective on Snow's size that I've never really noticed before. That mofo is built like a tree. And, his pants are either really baggy and it's poor modelling, or he has massive junk. Srsly.
Also, FFXIII trailer is DKS trailer, Versus trailer is shit but has whole Noctits/Sterile party scene, Agito trailer is the only good one, combat looks like a polished Crisi Core.
re: TRIAL VERSION Thread of God help me, I will turn this train around!
I also watched that channel.
My thoughts:
XIII: Gameplay was nice. Hope it doesn't get repetitive. I like the new battle engine overall, nice camera, nice action moves. The setting is beautiful and so are the CG cutscenes, of course. The normal battle theme got tiring after a while. I much prefer the boss battle theme. Judging from the demo, the game seems kinda...linear, but it's only a fraction of the game (plus it looks like an notable section of the game, not a dungeon/free area per se) so I might be wrong.
(I want to point out that it's freaking hilarious how the guy furiously pauses Windows every time to get panty/upskirt shots. That was hilarious stuff.)
Also: "Bang!" Lol.
Agito: Impressive. Gameplay looks smooth. Not much to say about it, other than the CG cutscenes were pretty cool, especially the ending.
Versus: First part of the trailer is freaking awesome. Then it just got boring, because apparently there's no voice actors yet or something, and I unfortunately cannot understand Japanese subtitles.

re: TRIAL VERSION Thread of God help me, I will turn this train around!
I've turned it off. I can't stand the pain of having to wait until the end of the year for the game.
Bitching graduation present, though, Square Enix. Even if it will be a bit late.
All in all, it looks all right. The demo doesn't really give any hints to the storyline, aside from Lightning's crazy "DO WANT FAL'CIE OF PULSE" ramblings (*exaggeration on actuality of what she said) and the opening where Vanille's like "The world is ending" (*Sadly, not exaggerating on the actuality of what she said), but it's main point is said to preview the battle system - something I find ironic, since they've said "It's not the complete battle system."
Since it's from an old build, I'll forgive the character models, but I have to say this, Square Enix - these things are meant to sell the product. We've been waiting for 3 years, some of us will be waiting 8 more months, a lot will be waiting even longer. It's gotten to the point where you have to work to keep people interested. Giving us trailers and demos from old builds with outdated content is not the way to do it. Okay? You blokes understanding me? YOU'RE NOT DOING IT RIGHT.
I'm digging the music. The only constant expectation I've had from FNC is the music. Masashi Hamauzu doing XIII, Yoko Shimomura doing Verus, ... Takeharu Ishimoto, I think, is doing Agito. It's all well composed, arranged and performed. I'll be interested to see what stays and what goes in the final version. <<<<333333 Masashi Hamauzu.
The environments are well constructed, but I have fears. This is it. This is the opening, this is the first thing we're going to see. I understand that it's going to get more open and brighter, but that's not what I'm talking about. Monotony. I've just seen it in the demo locations - Hanged Edge, I believe it's called. I can see it happening in the jungle, I can see it happening in the icy place, I can see it happening in the wallpaper of the room where Lightning will inevitably lose her virginity to Snow (I WENT THERE, AND I THINK SQUARE ENIX WILL GO THERE TOO, ONLY LESS BLUNT AND WITH MORE CORNY DIALOGUE). I'm scared. I can't help but compare tri-Ace to Square Enix's dev teams, but tri-Ace does beautiful environments. I SEE MYSELF GETTING BORED, SQUARE ENIX. Running through this lengthy, very pretty and very well textured sections, but monotonous. No variety. Just repeated all the way through.
Lolbattle. The battle system will take some getting used to. A lot of an individual's success of it will come from just learning where everything is and using commands through habit. They want people thinking strategically, but I'm of the opinion that it's going to boil down to habit. Muscle memory is going to dictate what happens. I'm not sure if it's a trap or not, but I feel it's going to happen. Other than that, it looks pretty good. I like that they're mixing it up, but if it fails, boy are they going to hear about it. A lot.
I'm happy I didn't blow money on the demo. Especially at the time when the exchange rate was worse than it is now, but I'm not even going to turn around and order it in the future. It's not worth it. I don't care for the movie, the entire package was underwhelming for me. I have just illustrated my gripes, but the game's coming up nicely and they have 8 months to fix anything. The trailers were underwhelming. I'm much happier watching and thinking "Oh, well maybe I should have bought it, but I can watch it" than playing and thinking "Christ, I paid $100 for this. Wish I hadn't."
