De javu! (That don't look right!) I thought you couldn't actually become the magister? You would do the quest but then it would say that your time had passed ro something? Did I read the other post wrong? (Xenobird not quite up to par today.)

Hmmmm. When I go see Gothren, the only things that I can talk to him about is the Moon-and-star, and the Nerevar. It doesnt mention anything about challenging. I was sure I got this post up first. What happens if I do all the chores for the other master? Would they swear to me as a magister as well? Can I just say something to all the people who dont like posting the answer to a question more than once.

When the questions arent in the forum links (i checked), you expect a person to spend hours looking for their answer. This would involve going into almost every thread to find the one they wanted as not all the threads have names that are obvious. 'Cant Advance' could have been about anything. I'm actually have problems with another rank that I will ask at the end of my rant. I constantly see that people write about them having already answered the question.

It takes a few moments to answer the question, a few hours to search for it on the forum. When you use the search button it searches everything on neoseeker. When I put some things in I get a lot of wrestling links. Please take the small time to just answer the questions, or post a link, whichever is easier.

My second question. I was a wizard in the mages guild. I challenged Trbonius. He said I was an Arch-mage. But my rank only went to master wizard. I have done all of Edwinna's jobs. How do I become Arch-mage now?

Lady Amelia, do the rest of the Mages Guild quests and when you get all of them done Skink (or Edwinna) will give you a letter to show Trebonius and you should have the rank show up as Arch-Mage then. I don't understand why he recognizes you as the Arch-Mage when it is not showing up in the menu that way.

ah if ya killed Trebonius before finishin all of Eldwinna's or Skink's quests then ya can't fullly become Arch-mage, soz but if ya really want to become Arch-mage then ya will have to reload a previous save where ya haven't killed him or start a new char, but becomin Arch-mage isn't anythin special

sorry, but i'm a fast reader... so i've gotten used to searching through pages of posts... i know, this makes me a jerk because i expect everyone else to be a fast reader and not mind reading through old posts... but seriously, if it's not on the forum links page and searching doesn't procure any results... atleast just go back a page or two because shadowj did just answer the same question not too long ago... like a page max... yeah, yeah, yeah, i'm a jerk now... so what...

Sorry to raise the dead, but this link from the FLD is EXACTLY the same problem I'm having right now. After finishing the quest where I kill the Hlaalu and Redorian nobles in the other strongholds, Aryon won't promote me further. I cannot become Magister in the Telvanni house because Master Aryon won't promote me. I've done all the missions up to this point, and I have a level 3 stronghold. Just as Lady Amelia describes here:

So, is there any way around this bug? I can't rally support for myself from the other Telvanni, and I can't kill Gothren because I don't have the proper dialog options. I suspect that these options are given when Aryon gives you the Magister 'chores', which I can't get because he won't advance me.

Is this just a bug? Is there some way around it?






[EDIT] Sonovabitch!!! I just looked this one up on some other gaming sites and they all seem to have the same conclusion: Becoming a Master in House Telvanni causes this problem. To get around it you have to stay at the rank of Wizard until Aryon forcibly promotes you. A glitch is involved also, if you do ask to get promoted to the rank of Master, you are supposed to be able to change your mind and ask Aryon about challenging Gothren later, but the glitch won't let you do this. If I was playing on the PC, you can use the console command to correct this, but I think I'm just screwed. Time to look back through my old game save files...
