just startin the game and need help

Best Character IMO is a dark elf, I always use a dark elf. I usually go under the sign of the lady, but that is just me! Join all of guilds eventually, but at first , I usually join mages and theives, or fighters and theives. First go to Arielle's Tradehouse, and get some items, and then do the missing tax collector mission. That should familiarize you with the controls, etc. TO start out, I usually raise speed, cause I hate when a char. walks like they are shopping.

Don't name youre character Zurn.....or the wrath of the gods shall overcome you!!!

1. This is strictly an opinion question. Unlike some games, this historical simulation has no clear superior character. Many people start the game with several characters and try them before choosing their main one. Personally, I have a Dark Elf named Zurn. I have started a new game with a Dark Elf, Zurn, Jr. The Dark Elf is noted for his skill and balanced integration of swordsman, marksman, and war wizards. He has a powerful intellect and strong and agile physiques. He has a high resistance to fire. In words words, they are balanced in these areas. I'm a Libra and I like balance. However, according to the instruction manual:
Argonians have natural immunities to diseases and poisons and have the ability of water breathing.
Bretons have quick and perceptive grasp of spellcraft, enchantment, and alchemy and have a high resistence to destructive and dominating magical energies.
High Elves are gifted in the arcane arts and are far more resistant to disease than the lesser races.
Imperials are screwd in speechcraft and mercantile and are trained in light infantry.
Khajiits are quick and agile and many are thieves. They are high in acrobatics.
Nords have a high resistance to cold and they like using medium armor and weapons like Axes and Blunt weapons.
Orcs are resistant to magicka and like to use medium or heavy armor. They have a ellevated armorer and block stat, too.
Redguards are labeled adventurers. They resist disease and poison and they excell at the longblade. They have enhanced athlethics.
Wood Elves, also known as Bosmer, and they are agile and quick. They resist disease. They make the best archers and also make good thieves.

2. Birthsigns
I prefer The Lady right now. She gives increased endurance and personality.
The Apprentice Increased Magicka but a weakness to it, too.
The Atronach cannot regenerate Magicka but have a chance at absorbing it cast towards them.
The Lord regenerates health but has a weakness to fire. Hmmmm...this might work with a Dark Elf since they have a high resistance to fire.
The Lover Increased agility and can paralyze others with a kiss. I can't see Zurn kissing guys! LOL
The Mage Increased magicka.
The Ritual can heal themselves and turn undead. Isn't that a oxymoron?
The Serpent can poison others but they lose life.
The Shadowcan make themselves invisible. Good for a thief.
The Steed can move fast.
The Thief are harder to hit.
The Tower can unlock doors (upto a certain level) and can detect certain things from a distant.
The Warrior have an increased chance of hitting.

3. Join all of them before you do any of the quests so you won't run into problems. Do not kill any promenient members of any guild or faction. If in quesiton ask someone before you do the dirty deed.

4. Balmora, but first you really need to gain a level or two around Seyda Neen. This is the starter part of the map with a couple of starter tombs and caves.

5. Raise whatever is in your major and minor skill selection. I personally find acrobatics, sneak, light armor, and short blade easy. I always put them in my major or minor skills.

Good point. Figure out how you want your character and select skills for your majors and minors which this character will use the most. This is critical for leveling up in the beginning. After you max out your stats you can change what your character uses. Note: You cannot change your major and minor skills though.

lol that's one way of levelin up sneak, I like it but yeah, also don't forget to pick ya favourite attributes since they play a role in levellin, I dunno what it is but I think it adds 10 points to those attribs choosen I'm not sure

I chose an Orc. Fairly tough, and resistant to magicka. Also has "Beserk", which raises all your attack damage by 100. That's a lot.

Every character class sucks at first in terms of health and strength. You will need training.

My Orc is now at 91 strength.

im in balamor and i want to raid this shop the armourer's shop but i keep dieing cuz of the gaurd there anyway to kill them quickly?

weird i found out how to steal from them gaurds grab thhe stuff hide it in a crate hide than rest for 20 days and u get ur shit and everyon loves ua gain
