As mentioned, the PS3 jab was pretty unnecessary. Avoid the PS3 version because of the sixaxis that no one uses? Wha? -------------------

Like other people, I was confused at the dig on the PS3 controller. I think those triggers were finally used to full effect and thought that they fantastic to use. ------------------- ![]()

If you mean the L2 & R2 triggers, then I suggest he is correct. They are, for some unknown reason, convex rather than concave. This makes them very un-friendly and much more difficult to use than the 360's. ------------------- It's twelve o'clock, and it's a wonderful day.

Well, if that's true, then entertaining parody or not that was a little irresponsible of him. re: Zero Punctuation: Yahtzee reviews Grand Theft Auto IV |
quote Steel MagnoliaAye that's why I hate games like Turning Point that don't offer alternatives to the controller config and force you to use the triggers as your shooting triggers, I much prefer L1 and R1 for weaponry than L2 and R2 As to his jab towards Sixaxis, I'm going to guess it is was a general jab towards all games on the PS3 and not just GTA IV. GTA IV utilises Sixaxis quite good to be honest, in fact I prefer it over manual handling especially on copters and bikes, however some games such as Lair don't use it to the full advantage and other games just don't use it where they should have used it. Ironman being the example in this case. In fact Ironman using Sixaxis in flight mode would have rocked, instead you are confined to the analog sticks, which is fine but not when they bugger the controls up to the point that you are spinning out of control in-game and throwing your controller at a wall, ground or screen. ------------------- ![]() ![]()

quote ChiroVette quote ChiroVetteLolwut? Yahtzee is an entertainer, so if he said "don't buy the PS3 version because it will lead to massive baby sacrificing at Sony HQ" he shouldn't feel bad whatsoever. At worst you can just call him an idiot. However, I do agree with him. I can barely keep my fingers on the convex triggers after extended play and can only imagine what a nightmare it must be trying to find the perfect pressure for free-aiming must be.

re: Zero Punctuation: Yahtzee reviews Grand Theft Auto IV |
quote SerephThe two quotes don't contradict each other. You just took them out of context. When I first watched the review I didn't notice the digs against the PS3, or more accurately, I assumed he was talking about the freezing issues. In retrospect, after reading Game Masta's post, I realized that he was using his admitted;y satirical style in a cool way for the most part, but that he should be a little more responsible when throwing his hat into the console war. I would have said the same thing, by the way, had he attacked the 360. My point is that even though the review was satire, he is seen as a journalist, in his own strange and maniacally crazy way. And I would think he would not favor one platform over the other in his review simply because of a feature that is completely OPTIONAL on the PS3. The 360 has no motion sensing, and the PS3 does. Further, ROckstar DOES NOT force you to use it. So by turning it off, even if you hate the Sixaxis, then just don't use it. However, to use his voice, which is heard by millions, to subtly attack one of the platforms is, yes, irresponsible, even if it is done in a joking fashion. I would have not mentioned it if he had held the freezing problem against the PS3, OR if the PS3 version of GTA IV forced you into using the rather wonky Sixaxis. But as a default setting, the Sixaxis is OFF. So how could it possibly be an issue that he uses as a platform to recommend the 360 version? Humorous or not, that is irresponsible journalism. ------------------- ![]() It's official. I have truly become a babysitter on Neo. Redemption, I want my $7.00 an hour!

I had an opportunity to play GTA IV on the PS3 at a friend's house a few days ago, and my only concern was the L2 and R2 buttons, I didn't find them user friendly at all. More painful.

re: Zero Punctuation: Yahtzee reviews Grand Theft Auto IV |
quoteIf I had a pound for evey time a friend has complained to me about how dark the game visuals are.... Is it really beyond people's initiative to go to the game options and bump up the brightness and contrast?! It's the first bloody thing I did! And henceforth, no brown/grey/black confusion. Agree with the point about 'realism' as a gaming concept though, which has been discussed a lot in these forums. It seems to be the gaming equivalent of alchemy, developers trying to create a reality out of something that isn't real. But realism doesn't necessary make for better, and I think much of GTA's appeal over the years has been its cartoon-like guise. Btw, does anyone have a link to the full list of his reviews? They sound good
