General Forum Behaviour
No SpammingSpamming is the act of posting pointless or off-topic remarks in any on-topic discussion. When posting, make sure to look at what you have written and ask yourself: Does my post contribute to the topic in any way? If the answer is no, then your message will most likely be looked upon as spam. An example of spam would be posting "Yes, I agree", or "lol, awesome". Neither of these messages will add anything to a conversation. Another form of spam is posting messages about one topic, while the thread is about a different topic. For instance, posting about your favourite character in a thread that is actually about new stages would be considered spam.
No FlamingOn any forum, differences of opinion are bound to occur. In any case where you do not agree with another member, flaming is not necessary. If you wish to debate your opinion then you are more than welcome to do so, but as soon as a thread degrades to petty name-calling and other such insults, it will be treated as flaming and any offenders will be dealt with.
Duplicate ThreadsBefore making a thread, it would be appreciated if you could first look back a couple of pages to see if there is already a thread made about the topic you want to discuss. If the topic you have in mind seems like a rather important one (such as character/stage/item discussions), then check the Thread Index (further down this page) for any dedicated threads before starting a new one. It helps make the mods' job a lot easier, and chances are if you make a duplicate thread someone will redirect you anyway, so you may as well check beforehand.
No Illegal DiscussionNo discussion of emulators or roms. No discussion of illegally downloading music/movies/games. No advertising other sites. No pornography. Any member caught violating these rules will receive a ban without warning.
Accepting ResponsibiltyThis is a rule we hope to never have to enforce. If you receive punishment for questionable behaviour, then you will be expected to accept this punishment without trying to bend the rules to suit yourself. If you receive a ban, you are expected to honour that probation. Bypassing the ban with another account will only serve to get your original ban length extended, and you will most likely be brought to the attention of the super moderators who may or may not choose to take further action.
Forum FAQ
Can I create a game thread? You may not create a game thread without first seeking approval from Gotenks via PM. Unless it is clear your idea has been well thought-out, it will most likely be denied. Threads such as Hurt/Heal offer absolutely no discussion, and instead encourage one-liner posts that ultimately just spam up the forum. A game needs to be original, understandable and most importantly fun before we will even consider allowing it, so make sure your idea meets these criteria before you ask us for permission to create it.
Can I create a Character Guide thread? You may not create a Character Guide thread without first seeking approval from Gotenks via PM. Unless you provide him with a proper rough draft on how your planned guide will look like then it will most likely be denied. The guide should something along the lines of this. Though we don't expect it to be exactly like that. But it should be something you should try to follow as much as possible.
Can I create a single character discussion thread?Check the index. Have a look at the quick links; Is the character thread you wanted to create already there? If it is, feel free to bump that thread and continue the already existing discussion. If the character you want to talk about is not on the list of quick links, then you are probably best to head over to the Possible New Characters thread, where you can discuss the possibility of any unconfirmed characters. If you're still determined to get a character his own thread, PM Gotenks and request permission to do so.
What are "Featured Characters"?Featured Character threads are special threads made to encourage discussion of a particular character. These threads are currently made on a weekly basis by one of the moderators. Members are not permitted to make their own Featured Character threads. When a new Featured Character thread is opened, the previous thread will be un-stickied, its thread title changed to just the character name, and it will be given the custom title "Single Character Discussion".
How can I give my thread a custom title? You may see a few threads floating around with special custom titles underneath the thread name. These customs titles can only be added onto a thread by a moderator, and they will be added as we see fit. Don't bother asking us to add a custom title to your thread; If we think it needs one, we will add one.
Why can't I start new threads? If you can't start a new thread, chances are you are not a registered member or you are not logged in to your Neoseeker account. The forum is set to prohibit guests from posting new threads, so if you want to start your own discussion you are welcome to register with the site.
What is the Smash Bros. Wiki, and how do I become a part of it?The Smash Bros. Wiki is a dedicated part of Neoseeker that focuses on the Smash Bros series. The wiki itself is still under construction, and all progress and updates on the project can be found in the Wiki thread. We are currently not looking for any new staff members, however you can become a part of the wiki's creation by offering suggestions in the appropriate thread.
Why was my thread closed? If you find that your thread has been closed to any further replies, chances are it is because you have violated one of the rules that have been clearly set out in this thread. The moderator who closed your thread will most likely post a brief reason in the thread itself, however if you feel that is insufficient information (and cannot find any possible reason in this thread either) then PM the moderator who closed your thread asking for an explanation. Be warned that if the reason for the thread's closure is obvious, we might not be very polite in our response.
Who are the moderators of this forum, and what do they do?The moderators of this forum can be seen at the top-right of the forum at all times (except when posting a new thread or a reply). It is the moderators' job to watch over the forum, making sure it runs smoothly by enforcing the rules listed in this thread. Any questions you may have we would be happy to answer, so just drop us a PM if you want to talk. The current forum moderators are:
