This game ain't hard

Dear Devil May Community,
Lady's and gents, I am very good at the Devil May Cry series. I am quite proud to say that. And as such, I have an interesting question I'd like to ask. As some of you have probably concluded, Devil May Cry 4 didn't really deliver in the way we might have hoped (or maybe it did for you). For me, it did not, but here's why. I haven't heard much from people about the actual combo system of the game (you know, the seemingly addicting D - SSS combo system you generate as you hack away at your enemies with "style"). I have a bit of a bone to pick with that, as I have a bad taste in my mouth from trying to invent new and innovative combos. And maybe it's just me, but have you ever noticed that simply running up to enemies and dominating them with a charged rising dragon or using dance macabre makes your style meter go way up? Yet, when I jump cancel a series of helm breakers and chain it into a combo ending with the enemy in the air being exploded by missiles and Lucifer swords, it gives me just about the same style points. And the difference between Dante and Nero is that with Nero the bosses are a joke. His devil bringer is ultimately overpowering to their life bar. And yet, it's just a press of a button after weakening the boss which will inevitably happen. This is my point, things like these that make me not want to play DMC4 after mastering jump cancelling in #3, and pulling off truly you tube quality combos, which is no longer possible (I think the combos you CAN make are ugly) and not needed. And my proof is that I went through the game three times, didn't break a sweat nor die more than a few deaths (Bloddy Palace if you were wondering), rank S'd every mission, and yet you could do the same thing by spamming max leveled style moves. This game was a joke regarding difficulty after a really difficult game like Devil May Cry 3, and as a disappointed, above average player, this game was not made for people like me. Does anyone know what I'm talking about or agree? I'd love to hear from players who are known on the leader boards, because I am a raising a question right now not just in Devil May Cry but in gaming in general. Are people who are truly amazing at some video games less or more important when making a game? Are video games progressively worsening because of this? Is it really more about the gamer than the money? Thanks for reading.

Putting aside the eye watering bragging, I agree with you. I think a good action game (such as DMC1-3) has to have a whole other level of exploration for crazy hardcore fans (like me).

I personally haven't bothered making it to the leader boards in DMC4 simply cuz the game does not encourage you to play that hardcore. It's rather tedious and repetitive and by memorizing particular combos you can up your style bar to SSS and stay there and rinse and repeat in every battle, without exploring the diversity of a multitude of combos. I do play the game still, cuz it's my only game on the system but once I get some new games DMC4 is history for me

And I agree with (can't remember who said it) someone on the other thread about DMC4 being the ultimate action title for those who are new to the series. But I honestly feel neglected for the sake of newbs.

Apart from the fact u love urself i do agree the game wasnt hard, i finished it the day i baught it and wasnt even continuesly playing, to easy by far, i mean fair enough the harder difficultys were challenging but end of the day the game wasnt good enough to motivate me to play past half way through DMD and even that was achieved in less than 4 days.

Leave the poor guy alone! How horrible are you all? He just came to this forum to display what a good narcisoistic over-egoed bragger he is and you attack him like he's done something bad and/or wrong. How can you do something like that?!?!
Anyway, I must disagree with you all again. I think DMC4 was fairly chalinging. AND I AIN'T NEW TO THE SERIES! Nero's verry easy to master and his devil arm is MASSIVLY overpowered. His guns suck like hell. They're godamn slow annd weak, and I'm just about ready to puke charge shots. So here's a chalange! Do all Nero's missions on DMD/H&H/BP using ONLY Blue Rose. It's fun. Trust me.
Dante is, if you ask me, the coolest version of them all(I'm talking about previous titles' Dantes here). He's a bit harder to master than any previous one and I just LOVE ActionStyleSwith! And Gilgames is, even though a bit slower than the other weapons, the coolest ganguets in the series. Common' guys, Beowulf looked just pittyfull . Yamato was a bit of a leftdown (I missed raiped slash and Vergil's a lternative to liftoff), though you could use it whenever wich was pretty cool. Trickster could as well have some new moves (Vergil's trick away for instance). But that's all I have to say aginst the game. Regardless, Dante's missions are nice and I had a really good time threw the game. I even died a time or two against the Saviour/Silver Giga (DMD + Saviour = endless fun) and I never got the feeling DMC4 was too easy. Especially Blitz on H&H were quite something. The enemies took more hits to kill than in DMC3 as well. Some puzzles were rather frustrating, while other pittyfully easy. BP is fun, H&H is cute, Nero is fresh (though unwanted), story is OK, demons are entertaining, graphics are awsome, the Saviour's got wings and Credo's an ( ). What else could you possibly want?

You loved seeing it and you know it.

The game can be a little harder if you try avoiding using to many combos. The monsters attack faster then in DMC3 so that's a big plus. I'd say the boss fights are the hardest part, while normal fights are probably easy, particialy later in the game when you have more combos.

The thing is, if you play at the very highest level of DMC and have SS'ed every DMD mission of the previous games and all that, how challenging did you really expect this game to be? If you're that well coordinated and versed in combos and controls, there's not much Capcom can do, short of making each monster tougher and faster, or completely redesigning the game into something different. If they make it too insanely difficult, normal people (And by normal, I mean people who don't play DMC3 for 5 hours every day) will not be able to pass the first level.

For my money, DMC2 was easy. This game is not easy, but it's not as hard as DMC3 was.
