i dont think that the interview with kojima means that he will necessarily do the sequel himself, just that if MGS4 does well he wants to see another Metal Gear game, which has been the case all along.

He has always said he wants his younger staff to take the helm, and i dont think he is really saying anything different here.

Unless i hear Kojima Say, I am going to make MGS5 then i can't be sure.

Also in his interview with GameTrailers he mentioned that he isn't thinking about returning to MGS5 and instead his staff will handle the game and that he's relieved and excited now that he can focus on new ideas. He also mentioned that he's already thinking about his next game which is an action game.

Kojima has been wanting to put the Metal Gear series behind him for a long time and I really doubt that he'll be returning to MGS5 as more than a producer unless he gets heavily pressured by Konami.

Personally, even though I'm a hardcore MGS fan, I'd rather he doesn't return. At least not for MGS5, I really want to see a different game from Kojima, he's a brilliant developer and I'm pretty excited to see what he has to offer away from the MGS series. Maybe he can work on some other projects before returning to the MGS series once again..

As I've been saying for a while now, Metal Gear will continue on, don't worry, children.

I'd like for them to be done with Solid Snake after this game though. Give us some fresh characters and storylines.

The current storyline and characters are what made the Metal Gear series what it is. I really doubt that the new storyline will be half as good as the current storyline. With Kojima leaving the series I consider MGS4 to be the very last Metal Gear game to me.

If Kojima chooses to make MGS5, then I don't care what he does with it (whether he continues Solid Snake's story or not).

As long as it's a great game, I'll be thrilled.

What if they do like 3 more games on MGS with Big boss being the character you play as, in the 60's again or something, after or before MGS3 was set.

I really don't see that happening, Big Boss was part of the Solid saga. I'm sure that in the future Metal Gear games they will mention some of the characters and events from the current storyline and we might even see Solid Snake as one of the support characters on the codec or any other character from the current games. but I don't think they'll be making games which revolve around them.

I don't think they will be keeping the word Solid in the game title after this one. It's possible but it might be better to move on to another name to point ou that it's a new game with a new storyline.
