MGS4 Limited Edition Version Details

[ via GameGrep ]

It's become somewhat of a tradition now to sell two versions of the top-selling games. One version is the normal one, and the other is a 'limited edition' which is in no ways limited, besides the fact that it may limit you from buying you it, since it's slightly more pricey - however usually the extra dollars/pounds/currency you'll use to buy this game are well worth it. However, is that the case with Metal Gear Solid 4?

With both games available on the 12th of June 2008 (exclusively at GameStop in the US) which one will you be picking... here's a quick summary of the email I recieved:

Standard Edition $59.99
Metal Gear Solid 4 (Full Game - duh)
    Metal Gear Online (Starter Pack)
Limited Edition $84.99
Metal Gear Solid 4 (Full Game - again duh)
    Metal Gear Online (Starter Pack)
Collectible Packaging with Exclusive Artwork by Yoji Shinkawa
Blu-ray Disc featuring two "Making of" documentaries
Personally it reminds me a lot of the MGS2 EU pack that they came out with which although not limited, came with a documentary on the making off... personally I'm thinking of going for the first since I'm not a big Art collector, and $25 does seem quite a bit just for a documentary and Packaging with the Artwork...

I agree w/mapquest_12 of course i already purchased in full for the LE MGS4. my reason is because this is Snake last mission and Hideo's as well (witch i doubt i hope) and at that Hideo is setting the bar high for next gen. games and i want to be the one to have the LE and it's the first game that is on Blue Ray.. (and of course I'm a hardcore fan/collector of MGS)

Anyone know if Konami are planning on bringing the LE out over here in the U.K?

It looks awesome and would be lame if they didnt sell it over here

Well Europe is starting to get more and more Limited Editions, so I wouldn't be surprised if it did make it to Europe, one way or another.

Near me there's a game store that imports all of its games from America, so I'll hopefully end up getting it ^^

That is the exact same reason why I reserved the limited edition.

The LE box art is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you Kojima! Screw the other one. Its so lame. Makes the US cover of MGS3 look like the *bleep*ing Mona Lisa.

But I already reserved the LE last weekend anyways. I don't care what it comes with, I just wanted it.

I hope Europe will get the same LE as North America. Anyone who bought the DMC4 LE knows how much that sucked compared to the US! >_<

Can't really see the point in getting the LE to be honest, unless of course you're just a die hard collector who has money to spare. But personally, I don't, and I imagine we'll have to spend money on MGO to upgrade it from the "starter pack". And also, I think I'm going to have to buy a DS3 for this game as well, if they're released in the UK by then.

re: MGS4 Limited Edition Version Details

Well I'm not a hardcore collector. Actually this is the very limited edition I've ever bought of any game, and I've been playing video games for over 20 years. This just seemed automatic for me, because its Metal Gear Solid *bleep*ing 4. I had to do it right. I get the traditional Metal Gear Solid artwork on the cover, a behind the scenes Blu-Ray disc (which I always love to watch since I'm an amateur game maker), an art book, the soundtrack, a metal case, plus the DVD and beta code for ordering early. The price isn't even questionable for me.

re: MGS4 Limited Edition Version Details

I remember how limited the LE version of Subsistence was. My Gamestop only got a small handful of them and the day I went to pick it up on its release date, there were only 2 left.

But the price for me wasn't an problem (and how could it be?) and neither was the decision to get the LE. Its just a great deal considering how much stuff you get. Too bad they couldn't make something like the Legendary Edition of Halo 3 was like.
