E3 says it all : Wii is the best

I was very disapointed in all three companies. Sony continues to be the weakest link and Microsoft didn't take advantage of the chance to really step up and wow anyone.

Nintendo's effort, however, was the most disheartening to me because it seems they really were convinced they are breaking ground with the Wii and its new peripherals. Wii Fit is not a revolution, and will never be one. The Wii Zapper is pathetic. Galaxy looks great, but again, no third party support in terms of more games - and now even Project HAMMER is unofficially cancelled.

I'm all for innovation, and Wii Fit could be interesting (not awesome). But Nintendo needs to focus on getting the maximum functionality out of Wii remote. It seemed they're starting to throw peripheral after peripheral at us (none of which are new ideas, btw) as a distraction instead of building a library of great games.

I agree Nintendo's showing was incredibly weak. I agree Microsoft's showing was pretty blah (not a whole lot of new or exciting debuts - more information on already announced games). But what was so special about Sony's performance at E3? How can you justify saying Sony "massacred" Nintendo and 360?

They showed a new PSP that can output to TVs and is smaller.
They showed their online community site for Home users.
They showed Gran Turismo 5.
They showed TONS of new information about Home.
They showed TONS of new information about Singstar.
They had their top titles playable.
They showed the new MGS4 trailer.
Taking a picture on your cell phone and having it immediately appear in PS Home? Awesome.
Accessing Playstation Home on your Cell Phone?

Yawn.

OK I know we're getting into opinion territory here, but I really don't think anyone would agree the above details are exciting enough to say Sony "massacred" anyone, or even clearly beat out the competition.

Sure, Home is interesting. The same way Wii Fit is interesting. Certainly nothing to write home about.

Were there lots of interesting things at E3 this year? Sure. But ALL 3 companies had weak showings. We can argue who the winner was until we're blue in the face, since the pros and cons were much more subtle. But I really don't think anyone can fairly say that ANY of the 3 big guys massacred the other two.

I guess my point is this: The topic raised the question "Who had the best showing at E3?"

Since 360 and PS3 just showed the same games (albeit beautiful and fun looking) they've been releasing screenshots, descriptions and trailers for the past few months, I felt their showing was very weak. Why even come to the show if you aren't going to wow the press, who by-and-large have reported this may have been the least exciting E3 of all time.

So who was the winner? Wii. Why? They actually debuted some new products (not just a new color, ahem, Microsoft), and they directly addressed some of the main criticism of the system (to be fair, Sony also did this SORT OF, considering the price "drop," but this whole "ten year lifespan thing" is total spin. I can't believe they can spew such BS and keep a straight face).
