re: {GD} Nunchuck All Over Again! |
quote Steel MagnoliaIt actually works very differently. The pointer may seem a lot like the light gun, but it actually isn't at all. See the sensor bar? It's just there as an IR field, it is only connected to the Wii for power and nothing else. If you connect it to another power source, the Wiimote will work fine. The Wiimote sends out rays that bounce off the IR field and go back(think of echolocation and bats). The Wiimote has a small little camera of sorts that catches it and then maps the location accordingly. You could, if you want, place the sensor bar on the end of your bed and lie down, and it will still work. The benefit of this system is, (again) like echolocation, it senses your exact position, including distance and angle, in relation to the sensor bar. The accelerometer, on the other hand, just needs movement. Games such as Wii Sports may require standing to play properly, but you can sort of trick it with a bit of practice. Games like Zelda just need a clear path to the sensor bar and nothing else(for shooting arrows and such, not all the time). I never play Zelda standing and I don't need to. The Wiimote works on both a pointer and an internal acccelerometer. Games have the option of using either, or both. -------------------

Ah I see. Thanks for the info. I will have a think about it for sure. I have time now since every shop I looked at had sold out of the console. I thought that everywhere would have them by now but I guess a lot of people must have gone for the PSWii combo and bought them out. ------------------- ![]()

Well I am considering it. I haven't decided yet. The position of my TV still might be a problem for some games and unfortunately due to the shape of my room, I can't have the TV anywhere else. ------------------- ![]()

Yes, they can wirelessly connect just like the GBA and GC(without the wire) or the PS3 and PSP. So far, only Pokemon Battle Revolution uses it to control the game with a touch screen(to keep your moves private) and to play online(although that requires Wi-Fi and Pokemon Diamond or Pearl). Some new games might utilize it, as well, but what I'm looking forward to is downloading DS demos from the Wii to the DS. Nintendo said that it was an idea they were considering, so hopefully we'll get it soon. -------------------

I also may be considering to get a handheld console - probably the DS Lite since I have a Wii and the two of them go pretty cool together. I don't know if I should though, although I am considering it.

I love my DS Lite. If someone didn't steal my first DS, I would never have gotten a Lite. Games that sound so stupid, like lawyer games or secret agent cheerleader games, work so well only on the DS. ------------------- What a shame to judge a life that you can't change. Baseball isn't a sport. It's just an imaginary thing that parents use to scare their kids like the Boogeyman or Tom Cruise. ------------------- What a shame to judge a life that you can't change. Will you give a man his wings...

The problem with baseball is that there are so many other, better sports to watch. Basketball, Football, Hockey, all are so much more enjoyable and entertaining, mainly because they involve more than a few guys standing around a couple of hours, maybe catching one or two balls. -------------------
